Sagaing’s Budalin Township Police Station attacked with heavy weapons

Military junta troops stationed in Budalin Township Police Station, in Sagaing Region were attacked by local resistance forces with heavy artillery at around 1 p.m. on 7 May, according to an official from the Cho Mai Mai Yinmarbin-Kani Alliance.

The attack was carried out with rocket launchers and 60mm mortars. Casualty numbers have not yet been confirmed.

After the attack the junta troops reportedly set fire to the nearby villages of Tha-man-taw and Shwe  Taung, also in Budalin Township. The fires destroyed two houses.

“We only fired heavy weapons, not small arms. After our attack the dogs [junta soldiers] came to our place without firing to try and ambush us. But we had predicted their strategy and we had already retreated before they arrived. When they [the junta soldiers] couldn’t find us, they set the villages [of Tha-man-taw and Shwe Taung] on fire”, said an official from the allied forces that carried out the attack.
