Sittwe and Myauk-U register 19 new COVID-19 cases

Local transmission of COVID-19 has been found in Rakhine State since August 16 and the number of laboratory confirmed cases has reached 19 until August 21 in the morning out of which 18 are from Sittway and one is from Mrauk-U, according to local authorities.

Among the 18 confirmed cases from Sittwe, there are two healthcare workers.

Case number 395 is the EENT specialist posted in Sittwe People’s Hospital and case number 398 is the nurse from that hospital.

The authorities have brought in a lockdown to help prevent the further spread of the virus.
