Six months after Myanmar coup, pandemic has 'paused the resistance': analyst

"The pandemic now has really paused the resistance" says Manny Maung, a Myanmar researcher for Human Rights Watch, six months after the military seized power.

Muang says: "People don't have the economy or the budget or the money to keep going and now many of them are sick."

As the coronavirus pandemic wrecks havoc in Myanmar, she fears "that the Myanmar people are going to slide more and more into devastation and poverty as this country becomes more of a pariah state.
