The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Friday, there was a meeting between U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights-NUG, and Isobel Coleman, Deputy Officer of the US Agency for International Development-USAID.
  • According to the U.S. Asia Pacific Media Hub, there was a meeting between Counsellor of the US Foreign Ministry and the delegation led by Minister of Human Rights and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG.
  • Ministry of Defense-NUG announced that they had spent (60.09%) of the money they earned (worth of 30 million USD) on the procurement of weapons.

Revolution Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Kyaungsu Village on Monywa-Amyint Road at 11:30 pm Friday and set fire to 6 houses and huts.
  • In Monywa, a combined force of 3 local guerrillas conducted attacks on the KBZ Bank, Kyaukkha Traffic Lights and a school with the junta armed forces at 11:00 am Saturday.
  • As a 395-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Ayadaw Township, a rally of villagers marched against the military dictatorship, chanting slogans against the junta water festival.
  • Starting from 9:30 am Saturday, there were battles between the junta armed forces and local PDFs in some wards of Kalay.
  • As a 426-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting slogans against the junta water festival.
  • In Sagaing Township, there was a fighting between the junta army and local PDF near the school in Thazi Village at 3:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, 6 PDF members lost lives.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army raided Myitphya Village on Friday. Reportedly, 86 houses were set on fire and 4 villagers were shot dead.
  • In Pauk Township, 3 military trucks carrying raw materials for weapons were confiscated. In addition, a military officer died in the incident. Reportedly, his rank badge was taken off from his shoulder and put on the underwear of a PDF captain.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, Ba-Ka-Tha Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday, raising a banner - ‘Wash your feet with the blood of Fascists’.
  • According to Octopus, they, in cooperation with the public, shared leaflets of the revolution Thingyan in 6 townships of Yangon Region on Saturday.
  • In Mandalay, the junta army shot at revolution comrades in a raid. Reportedly, no less than 2 PDF members were hit with bullets.
  • In Madaya Township, the junta army set fire to 5 houses in Kin Village at 11:30 pm Friday.
  • In Dawei District and Kawthaung District of Taninthayi Region, revolution forces called on the public to conduct a silent strike on the first day of Thingyan on 14 April.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Phapun District under the control of KNU Brigade (5), there were 10 battles between the junta armed forces (including BGF) and KNLA within 3 days. According to Mutraw Newsletter, at least 6 junta soldiers died and no less than 5 others were injured.
  • In Titain Township of Chin State, CDF – Hualngoram destroyed poppy farms near Htinhlay Village on Friday morning.

The Military Council

  • The junta Municipal Department announced that they would supply water to some townships of Yangon Region in turns between 13 and 16 April, the water festival period.
  • The junta Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture announced that the public were not to make Thingyan slogans which would defame others (people or organizations).
  • In his tour to the junta armed forces, the second junta leader said that they must live in unity due to division.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health, application for medical universities got started for the students who had passed 2020 matriculation exam in remote areas and 6 self-administered ethnic areas.
  • On Friday, Dr. Aung Moe Nyo, Magwe Regional Chief Minister, was sentenced to one more year in prison under the section of the election law.
  • Reportedly, there were discussions among responsible personnel for direct payment of Indian rupee and Myanmar kyat in the trade between India and Myanmar.
  • According to Notification (12/2022) of the junta Central Bank, foreigners were not included in new control measures of the foreign currency.
  • The junta Myanmar Embassy in Thailand announced that if Myanmar people in Thailand keep on collecting and donating money for revolution forces, legal action would be taken against them under the anti-terrorist law.

Summary on 9 April

  • In Sagaing and Magwe regions, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and local PDFs. As usual, junta soldiers with a great loss set fire to villagers and killed civilians. The public must make an effort to take action against those with war crimes.
  • The military junta made arrangements for the water festival to show as if they could rule the country. On the other hand, local PDFs called on the public to keep away from the junta armed forces as they would raise their urban guerrilla attacks.
