The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At a NUG meeting on Tuesday, Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than said that Ministry of Home Affairs had drawn up the draft police law for the interim administration.
  • In a meeting with CRPH on Tuesday, the Committee on International Parliamentary Cooperation of the Indonesian Lower House said that they would support the MPs elected by the Myanmar people and help resolve Myanmar’s political crisis.
  • Federal Health Council announced on Tuesday that strong action would be taken against the Chair and EC members of the junta Myanmar Medical Council, who had been oppressing doctors and health staff by abusing their authority.
  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN, called for humanitarian assistance worth over 150 million USD for children in Myanmar.

Revolution Activities

  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, the junta-appointed administrator of Thingangyungyi village was shot dead on Wednesday morning.
  • In Thanlyin Township, Urban Guerrilla Force - U.G.F Thanlyin conducted a bomb attack at the house of deputy police officer Kyaw Moe Kyi, chair of township former soldiers association and former member of Yangon Regional UEC, at about 7:50 pm Tuesday.
  • In North Okkalapa Township under the military administration, youths conducted an anti-junta movement at BEHS (6) Shwepaukkan on Wednesday morning.
  • In North Dagon Township, the junta army shot dead Ko Kaung Htet Paing, who had made a 3-finger salute against the military dictatorship, at about 10:00 am Wednesday.
  • In Bazundaung Township, the junta armed forces arrested Director Wine at his apartment on Wednesday morning, saying that he was involved in anti-junta movements.
  • As a 336-day protest, a combined rally by residents of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Monywa in Sagaing Region, Chindwin Attack Force released a warning to private banks putting pressure on CDM members, on Tuesday.
  • On Wednesday, Dibeyin PDF expressed their objection to the military dictatorship, in memory of Ma Mya Thwet Thwet Khine, who had been shot dead by the junta army the previous year.
  • In Khin-U Township, there was a fighting between the the junta army and a local PDF Madaungyi village on Tuesday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and 2 civilians were shot dead.
  • At about 10:00 pm Tuesday, the junta armed forces set fire to 5 houses in Seikkun village of Shwebo Township.
  • In Tantsi Township, the junta army set fire to Paychaung village at 4:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of villages marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, local guerrilla conducted 5 attacks via drone against the junta armed forces stationing in Beelone Township from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday evening, a military convoy was attacked with mines on the Yinmabin-Pale road. Reportedly, 16 junta soldiers died and 22 others were injured.
  • In a village of northern Yinmabin Township, a LGBT rally led a protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday morning.
  • On Wednesday, Dimawso PDF announced that they had bought a RUGER PRECISION RIFLE, which could be used to shoot at aeroplanes and tanks.
  • In Mandalay, there was a guerrilla protest, led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw, on Wednesday.
  • According to (VOMDY), an ATM machine owned by the junta controlled KBXZ Bank was burnt and destroyed by burning on Wednesday morning.
  • In Kyaukse, local PDF carried out a grenade attack on the township electricity office on Wednesday afternoon.
  • On Monday, the junta army sealed off seven houses of anti-junta people in Kyaukse.
  • In Bago Region, local PDF attacked a Pyusawti camp on the border of Gyobingauk and Oatpho. Reportedly, 5 Pyusawti members, including 3 leaders, died.
  • In Pwint Phyu Township of Magwe Region, a local PDF fired an M79 bomb launcher at Mezale police station at about 7:29 pm Tuesday.
  • U Min Ko Naing, one of the 88 leaders, called on Myanmar people in the international community, including Chin ethnics, to provide assistance in Paletwa Township, an important area in terms of military strategy.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, there was a protest against the military dictatorship on Wednesday. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Kyaikto Township, U Khin Tun, a junta-appointed administrator of Boyagyi village, was shot dead at 5:45 pm Tuesday.
  • In Yay Township, a former army officer was shot dead on Wednesday morning.
  • In Kyaikto, a military convoy was attacked with mines on Wednesday morning. In Saw Township of Magwe Region, the local public administration announced on Tuesday that an interim police force had been established with CDM police members.
  • On Wednesday, Shan social organizations called on Shan revolutionary forces not to attend the Union Day ceremony and peace talks, which would be organized by the military junta.
  • In Ywangan Township of Shan South, an alleged junta informer was shot dead in Nabangyi village on Tuesday evening.
  • According to People’s Destination on Wednesday, two soldiers from the junta army based in Moe Hne joined the CDM.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Hpa-An Township in Kayin State, the KNLA attacked a camp of 30 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members at about 9:30 am Monday. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured.
  • In Phapun District under KNU Regiment (5), there was an announcement telling junta staff to leave the area. Reportedly, over 100 people did so before the deadline.
  • In Hpa-An Township, KNU Regiment (1) called on Border Guard Force and People’s Army to resign and not to join hands with the junta army.
  • The CNF/CNA announced that they would not attend peace talks held by the military junta.
  • The KNPP called on the international community, including ASEAN, to help with legal action against the military junta for their violent activities, rather than political dialogue.
  • In Kutkai Township of Shan North, there was fighting between the junta army and MNDAA on Tuesday night.
  • In Yatsaut Township of Shan South, there was a battle between Shan EAOs; SSPP and RCSS on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, local people were anxious.

The Military Council

  • On Wednesday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing was in Magwe Region. According to local people, there were tight security measures in town and near-by places.
  • The military junta announced on Tuesday night that Yar Pyay, the junta minister of the union government office, had been appointed to be a member of the military junta.
  • On Tuesday, Wunna Mg Lwin, the junta foreign minister, explained the current situation to ambassadors and UN representatives based in Yangon. Reportedly, only 3 diplomats joined the event.
  • The junta ministry of health announced on Wednesday that emergency response teams had been established in 4 districts of Yangon Region due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
  • The junta UEC announced that they would inspect the NLD and SNLD from 14th to 18th February.

Summary on 9 February

  • According to sources, only 3 diplomats joined talks by the military junta on current affairs. So, it could be said that the military junta despite their efforts, do not have legitimacy. As for the international community, they were not willing to cooperate with them.
  • Most EAOs said that they would not attend the peace talks with the military junta. It highlights their lack of trust and lack of willingness to join hands with the junta.
  • Despite a year of the coup, the military junta could not control many parts of the country. On the other hand, the revolution gained momentum, causing a great loss for the military junta.
