The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (10/2023) between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District People’s Administrative Teams.
  • The Union Prime Minister of the NUG instructed members to continue the necessary responses to the Myanmar crisis on various levels such as political, military and diplomacy.
  • To help resolve Myanmar’s crisis, Acting President of the NUG met with the Special Envoy of the European Union-EU to Myanmar.

Revolution Activities

  • Freedom House, an international human rights organization, stated that since the coup, the military junta has been carrying out inhumane and ruthless violence against the people in Myanmar.
  • In Kayin State, Phayar Thonesu Township General Strike Committee expressed their desire on Friday for sanctions on Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, an income source of the military junta.
  • In Wetlet Township of Sagaing Region, Tamar Yinkwin Social Group provided the IDPs with money and food on Friday.
  • In Monywa Township, there was a mine attack on a convoy of the junta army. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • On Monywa-Mandalay Road, there were four mine attacks on a military convoy carrying copper. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of villages from Yinmabin and Salingyi marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on three junta soldiers on secret in the Industrial Zone. Reportedly, two of them died.
  • In Kantbalu Township, a rally of villagers protested against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Longlone of Taninthayi Region, youth marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, local PDF attacked a junta army camp near Kanthin Bridge on Friday morning. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yangon Region, North Dagon Myothit Township Students Union led an anti-junta movement.
  • According to a focal person on Friday morning, the members of PDF were not arrested in their attack on No. (11) weapon factory of the military junta in Tightgyi Township.
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, PDFs attacked the junta army stationed in Phonekan Village. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • The US Office of Director of National Intelligence-ODNI claimed that as the fighting has been heavier in Myanmar, it is not likely there will be negotiations between the two sides.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Thatone District under Karen National Union- KNU Brigade (1), two local children lost lives as they were hit with the mortars fired by the junta army.
  • According to an officer of Shan State Progressive Party- SSPP, it was just a rumor that one of their officers had been arrested for drug case.
  • In Karenni State on the border of Thailand and Myanmar, Karenni Forces attacked the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (510) three times. Reportedly, 8 junta soldiers died.
  • In Paletwa Township of Chin State, there were ambush attacks on the junta army for two consecutive days. According to local CDF, 13 junta soldiers died.
  • In Ponnagyun Township of Rakhine State, a drunkard set fire to his own house in Poeshwepyin Village at about 12:00 pm Thursday. Consequently, 3 houses were burnt down to ashes and the perpetrator was arrested by the ULA/AA.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that 3 PDF members had been arrested together with a large number of weapons in Ywangan Township of Shan South.
  • In a meeting in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday, the second junta leader Soe Win claimed that the procurement of luxury items would not be allowed in the governmental departments to avoid high costs for 2023-24 fiscal year.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win stated that the governmental departments must be thrifty with the use of fuel oil for administration and operation in the 2023-24 fiscal year.
  • The online booking system for passport application was reopened on Wednesday. Reportedly, the server went down and it had to be closed for two weeks for maintenance.

Summary on 11 March

  • Even amidst inhumane violence of the junta armed forces throughout Sagaing Region, local people have continued their protests against the military dictatorship.
  • In Karenni State, the junta armed force units have been controlled one after another. As for others, they have had difficulty accessing rations. Consequently, the military junta is likely to conduct a heavy invasion into the area.
