The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The 53 rd meeting of the NUG was conducted at 10:00 am on Tuesday. The Acting President, Union Prime Ministers, Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers attended.
  • The NUG Union Prime Minister said that it was necessary to make an effort in various ways to demolish the military junta, which is on the verge of collapse.
  • Spring University for Teacher Training announced on Monday that Dr. Thein Lwin had been appointed to be their very first Dean.
  • On Monday, the NUG Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the exclusion of the Special Representative of the United Nations to Myanmar from the consultative meeting of ASEAN on Myanmar held in Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

Revolutionary Activities

  • According to PDF sources, three police officers from Indaw Police Station in Sagaing Region joined the CDM, bringing a large number of weapons and bullets.
  • South of Kalay Township, there were battles between the junta armed forces and PDFs. According to CDF KKG, 106 houses and 11 barns in Sharpho Village were burnt down by junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members.
  • In Shwebo Township, there were battles between the junta armed forces and local PDFs from 5 to 7 May. Reportedly, about 17 junta soldiers died. As for the PDF, they lost three members and two others were missing.
  • On their 426 th day of protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Monywa Township, youths from the Basic Education Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship, placing an anti-junta banner at Htanzaloat Waterfall.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of villagers marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Myinmu Township, the junta army raided a camp of the Black Eagle Defence Force-MMU near Peku Village on Monday. Reportedly, eight PDF members lost lives in the incident and one of them was Ko Wai Yan Phyo, the Communications Officer of Sagaing University Students’ Union.
  • In Amarapura Township in Mandalay Region, the military junta forced 13 villages to hold a Banyan Tree Watering Ceremony at Shwegetyet Pagoda and gave a 5 to 7 lakh MMK financial incentive to each village.
  • In Thabaitgyin, a local guerrilla force conducted a bomb attack via drone on the compound of the Combined Offices in Kwetthit Ward.
  • In Tilin Township in Magwe Region, YDF attacked the junta army chasing domesticated chickens in Pazinchaung Village at about 6:30 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among the junta soldiers.
  • In Minhla Township, a sergeant clerk from No. (10) Weapon Factory joined the CDM, according to Loikaw PDF.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday, members of Mingaladone Township Students’ Union in Yangon protested against the military dictatorship and the junta slavery education on YBS.
  • Somewhere in Yangon, a combined rally of LGBT Yangon Community, SC Strike, Octopus Social Network and AYF hung an anti-junta banner on Tuesday.
  • In Phyu Township in Bago Region, a military officer in chief of the junta army Ka-La-Ya (5) and an officer of Nyaungbintha Police Station have been accepting bribes and allowing illegal timber production and transportation.
  • In Nyaungshwe Township in Shan South, a local guerrilla force shot dead Ye Myint, the junta people’s army leader, and his son-in-law at Thandaung Market on Monday morning.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, local people carried out an anti-junta demonstration on Tuesday morning.
  • In Tanintharyi Township, in Myeik District a PDF group announced their sorrow for the loss of a member named PK (CDM) in the raid on Tonekha Detention Center.
  • In Longlone Township, there was a powerful protest against the military dictatorship at a market on Tuesday morning.
  • According to Media Monitor Collective, the junta armed forces led by Min Aung Hlaing killed 2,961 people and set fire to 13,266 houses from February 2021 to April 2022.
  • In Pindaya Township in Shan South, U Shwe Pe, the junta administrator of Pansit Village, was hot dead at about 7:00 am Tuesday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On Monday, the Karen National Union (KNU), the Karenni National Progressive Party-KNPP/KA and Chin National Front- CNF/CNA released a joint statement calling on the military junta to conduct an all-inclusive discussion and stop all invasive attacks as soon as
  • possible.
  • In Kyaikto Township in Mon State, a military convoy carrying rations was attacked with mortars and mines by a combined force of the KNLA on the highway to Mawlamyein from Yangon.

The Military Council

  • The junta Union Election Commission announced that they had suspended the registration of Myanmar New Society Democratic Party for one year due to their refusal to allow an inspection of the party’s funds and other assets.
  • On Monday, the junta Central Bank announced that legal action had been taken against 158 companies for their failure to follow the foreign currency rule related to their exports. 
  • Regarding peace discussions, the junta propaganda leader said that seven ethnic armed organisations that signed the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), and three others had registered to join the discussions.
  • In Namkam Township in Shan North, two military officers from the junta army (144) stationed in Mantat Village ran away on 20 April, taking the soldiers’ salaries with them.
  • After the junta propaganda MRTV Application was removed from the Google Playstore and Apple Store, the junta minister of information has been putting various restrictions on media outlets.
  • The junta Mayor of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area said that 5 lakh MMK of support had been given to each university and degree college.

Summary on 11 May

  • Reportedly, ten ethnic armed organizations would attend the peace discussion by the military junta. However, they were not from the states with heavy battles such as Kachin, Karenni, Kayin and Chin as well as Rakhine State with high military tension. Therefore, the military junta would not be able to reduce their battlefronts through discussion.
  • As for the junta armed forces, they had a great loss in frontline battles, especially the ones in Sagaing Region and Karenni State. Because they are depressed more and more of their members are running away, joining the CDM and getting arrested on a daily basis.
  • To try to demonstrate that they can rule the country, the military junta has been forcing villages and towns to hold pagoda festivals. As for the public, they need to take great caution not to fall into their trap.
