Yangon Region

  • In Sanchaung Township, the junta armed forces arrested no less than 18 young people on Monday night, accusing them of taking part in protests.
  • At about 11:00 am Tuesday, the junta armed forces inspected some ordinary cars near Sule.
  • According to residents, there were bomb explosions near a traffic police office in the downtown area of Yangon, near the post office on Strand road and at Bazundaung YMBA on Tuesday afternoon.
  • In commemoration of 46th Kachin Martyrs’ Day which fell on Tuesday, Insein Basic Education Students’ Union (Ba-Ka-Tha Central) made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship, raising Kachin Flag and holding signs- “Get rid of nationalism. There are more than 9 martyrs”.
  • In South Okkalapa Township, B.E.H.S (1) Basic Education Students’ Union protested against the military dictatorship on Tuesday evening to commemorate Kachin Martyrs Day, “Get rid of nationalism. There are more than 9 martyrs”.

Mandalay Region

  • On Monday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public as usual and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • Amidst tight security measures by the junta armed forces, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools managed to march against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • To commemorate Kachin Martyrs’ Day, Myingyan District Students’ Union and Myingyan Technological College Students’ Union expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship, hanging posters on Bogyoke Road- “Get rid of nationalism. There are more than 9 martyrs”.
  • On Tuesday morning, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools marched against the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Tuesday morning, Kyaukse General Strike expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday morning, Ba-Ka-Tha students from Kyaukse General Strike conducted protests in the villages, organized round-table discussions and distributed 8888 newsletters.
  • On Tuesday, a rally of Mandala University Students expressed their disapproval of the military watchdog.

Sagaing Region

  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta armed forces entered Myintant village at about 7:30 am Tuesday and destroyed houses by setting them on fire.
  • To mark their 184-day protest, the students and the public went around Kalay and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Pale Township, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and PRA near Khin-Aye Nattaik at about 10:30 pm Monday. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died and a member of PRA was injured, but not seriously.
  • In Monywa-Amyint roadside community, there was a night strike against the military dictatorship in a village, banging pots and pans.
  • In Ye-U Township, residents made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In commemoration of Kachin Martyrs’ Day, Monywa General Strike expressed their desire against the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Kalay Township, the junta armed forces came to Tautjant village at about 2:00 pm Tuesday, with the excuse to look for weapons. They made enquiries about Maung Phyu and arrested his parents-in-law as he was not there.

Taninthayi Region

  • In the eastern area of Dawei, residents made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, Dawei General Strike, in cooperation with a rally of students/youth marched against the military dictatorship, “Only NUG is our government. Drive away the military watchdog”.
  • In the eastern area of Dawei, young people expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, a rally of youth in Longlone Township marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township, there was an anti-junta movement in Nyinmaw village on Tuesday evening.

Magwe Region

  • In Myaing Township, the junta armed forces in an ordinary car opened fire and tried to arrest Mg San Ko, allegedly protest leader in Paitthin village, at about 2:00 pm Monday. As he escaped, those junta soldiers shot another villager Mg Aung Zayya to death for no apparent reason.
  • In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from the northern zone conducted a motorbike protest against the military watchdog on Tuesday morning.

Shan State

  • According to Southern Shan State PDF, a captain and two junta soldiers were killed in an ambush at about 5:30 pm Monday as they were on their way to Namsam from Taunggyi to serve their duty.
  • In Lasho Township, the junta armed forces confiscated some houses in Lwelan village without prior notice for cattle farming projects.

Kachin State

  • In Pha-Kant Township, Lonekhine residents went around the village on Tuesday morning and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • In Moenyin, youth and students led a protest at dawn on Tuesday, singing revolution songs to keep the public’s revolutionary spirit alive.
  • In the statement sent for Kachin Martyrs’ Day on Tuesday, the Chair of KIA said that they had been working hand-in-hand with Burmese people and organizations to uproot the military dictatorship with nationalism.

Kayah State

  • On Monday, the battle continued between the junta army and a combined force of KNPP-KA/KNDF. According to KNDF, there were deaths and injuries among junta soldiers.

Chin State

  • CDF-Mindat announced on Tuesday that 5 million Kyats would be awarded to junta soldiers if they ran away from their army taking weapons together with them.
  • On Monday and Tuesday, the junta armed forces shot gunfire and mortars into the villages of Phalan for no apparent reason. According to CNO, a woman died, two others were injured and some villagers were arrested.

Mon State

  • In Mawlamyein, young residents made a motorbike protest around the city and expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.

Bago Region

  • Starting from May, Bago public were forced to take security at the schools. If they could not do so, they had to pay security fees. In recent days, they had to pay more.

Summary on 11th August

  • In commemoration of Kachin Martyrs’ Day, there were many anti-junta movements. In addition to blocking off streets and conducting arrests in Yangon, the junta armed forces raided some houses and arrested people. Despite such incidents, there were still protests and guerrilla revolutions.
  • Despite arrests in Mandalay, there were more and more rallies. It seemed likely that armed revolution would gain momentum there.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta army oppressed local people with too much force. They arrested and killed some people who had nothing to do with the revolution. There might be more IDPs.
  • In Chin, Kayah and Kayin states, the battles might continue as the junta armed forces made attempts for invasion. Consequently, the number of IDPs might increase.
