Spring Revolution Daily News for 12 March 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Regarding their discussion with Township Education Boards, the Education Committee under Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) met with Ministry of Education-NUG on Friday afternoon. 
  • In a statement by the Ministry of Defence-NUG, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance-MNDA was established on 11 March 1989 and it marked its 34th anniversary on Saturday. They also congratulated the MNDA for its strong existence amidst hardships. 
  • At 1:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting via video conferencing between the Ministry of Judiciary Affairs-NUG and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG. 
  • At 9:00 am Friday, there was a meeting (1/2023) between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and People’s Administrative Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region. 
  • Ministry of Human Rights-NUG announced that they had opened a Telegram Account so that the public can report the human rights violations against Myanmar people by other social organizations and armed forces in the country, in addition to those by the military junta. 
  • Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Risks Management-NUG announced that they had provided the humanitarian assistance to the people who have had to flee their homes due to the junta armed forces. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, 50 junta soldiers and Pyusawti raided Panyit Village at about 8:00 am Friday. Reportedly, they set fire to some people’s houses. 
  • In Magwe Region, Myaing Township General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday. 
  • In Magwe Township, the Bomahta PDF managed to produce 10 kinds of hand-made guns on 10 March. 
  • In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army raided Latkarbin Village and arrested Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw along with some young people. According to Khit Thit Media, the junta soldiers killed the monk. 
  • In Butalin Township, the junta armed forces have been raiding local villages. Consequently, more than 8000 people from 8 villages have had to run away. 
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for immediate sanctions on the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise, the income source of the military junta. 
  • On Saturday, Taze Township General Strike marched for sanctions on the MOGE making money for the military junta. 
  • In Sagaing Township, Nay Linn, allegedly a junta informant, was shot dead in Kyaukse Village. 
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship. 
  • Starting from the morning of Friday, the junta armed forces have been carrying out an invasion into Butalin Township. Consequently, about 9000 local people have had to flee their homes. 
  • In Moekaung Township of Kachin State, Captain Zin Min Oo from Ka-La-Ya (74) was seriously injured as he was on his way out in disguise. 
  • In Pinlaung Township of Shan South, the IDPs have been in need of medicine and other assistance. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • The alliance of forces sent statements on the 34th anniversary of Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army founded by U Pheung Kya-shin on 11 March 1989. 
  • At about 12:30 am Friday, the junta army made a bomb attack via fighter jet on the camp of Regiment (6) under the Brigade (9) of Kachin Independence Army- KIA based in Hpakant Township. 
  • In the eastern part of Dimawso in Karenni State, there were 3 battles on Friday alone. Reportedly, no less than 16 junta soldiers died and many others might have been injured. 
  • The AA and the TNLA claimed that they would stand by the MNTJP/ MNDAA until the force can fully control Kokang Special Area (1) in Shan North again. 

The Military Council 

  • The military junta stated that they would not allow the import of fuel oil as much as needed and they would first make the review. Afterwards, the junta committee announced that there would be action against those doing unfair sales and monopolizing the market. 
  • In Indaw of Sagaing Region, the military junta arrested 3 women including a CDM teacher and charged them under the anti-terrorism law. 
  • As a pilot project, the military junta has been arranging to install smart meters in 500 City Taxi running in Yangon. 
  • The second junta leader Soe Win said that building new offices and staff housing would not be allowed under normal circumstances and it would depend on local concerns and security reasons. 
  • For the establishment of Marya Visaya Buddha Image in Nay Pyi Taw, U Myint Swe, the Chair of Kokang Self-Administrative Region, and his family donated 1500 lakh MMK to the junta army. 
  • The junta Minister of Information called for contribution to the Academy Award Event as it can bring back life to the artists from motion, music and traditional arts. 
  • The military junta announced that they had arrested a woman taking money for passports in Pyinmanar Township of Nay Pyi Taw. 

Summary on 11 March 

  • Starting from March, a large number of the junta armed forces have been invading Sagaing, Magwe and Chin. They have been constantly burning villages and killing people in groups. Recently, they have done the same in Karenni State and Taninthayi Region. Consequently, there might be heavy battles, which end up with more IDPs and their need for assistance. 
  • Doing violence in small towns, the military junta has been conducting various kinds of events in big cities like Yangon to distract the people from the revolution. They have been arranging to hold a motion picture academy award event and they have been calling for contributions from the artists.
