The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • At 10:00 am on Monday, there was an online meeting of the Union Resources Management Team and it was joined by the Chair of the team and the NUG Union Prime Minister.
  • At 2:00 pm on Tuesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Union Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation and CDM staff.
  • The NUG Union Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment said that within five days, they had earned up to 3 million USD from the sale of shares for the property at No. (14) on Inlya
  • Road, confiscated by the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • On 7 May, there was a meeting between families in Japan supporting the Spring Revolution and a delegation led by the NUG Union Minister of Economics and Commerce.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Tuesday, the National League for Democracy (NLD) officially stated that the military junta was involved in the activities of some terrorist organizations like the Thwe Thaught Group
  • killing NLD members and pro-NLD people as well as anti-junta people.
  • In Mayangone Township in Yangon Region, the Urban Guerrilla Force conducted an attack at the junta administration office in Ward (3) on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, a 100-
  • household leader died and two people; the administrator and a firefighter; were injured.
  • In Thanlyin Township, Zaw Tun, a member of the junta military security force, was assassinated by local PDF on the road near WH Hotel at 7:05 am on Wednesday.
  • On Wednesday morning, the South Okkalapa Township Students’ Union carried out an anti-junta movement, hanging a banner protesting the military dictatorship and burning a photo
  • of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • Over 300 local people detained since the attack on a military convoy in Kawhmu Township have not been released yet.
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, a local PDF set fire to the house of the junta administrator in Pedak Village, two houses of Pyu Saw Htee members and an office at
  • 6:30 am on Wednesday. In addition, they blew up a MyTel telecom tower owned by the family of the junta leader.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of students and local residents marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Karenni State, local people have had to hide in forests and they have been in need of daily basic items such as food, shelter and water at IDP camps due to the junta armed forces
  • invading the area, setting fire to houses for no apparent reason and ill-treating or killing civilians.
  • At about 6:00 pm on Tuesday, Mg Myo a.k.a. Mg Mg Myo, a freelance journalist sending news to media outlets including Mekong Media, was arrested by the junta army at Thanlwin
  • Bridge in Hpa An.
  • On the 427 th day of protest, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, with a banner that said ‘Uproot the
  • common enemy’.
  • In Shwebo Township in Sagaing Region, a rally of villagers marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Kani Township, a local PDF attacked and took control of a camp belonging to junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members in Alegyun Village on Tuesday morning.
  • During the clearance operation by local PDFs in the area along the Chindwin River, four speed boats going from Monywa to Hommalin were found to be carrying fuel oil for the
  • junta army and thus, they were captured on Tuesday.
  • At about 11:00 pm on Tuesday, a combined force of local PDFs conducted a guerrilla attack with mines on a military convoy heading for Yinmabin Township.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township in Mandalay Region, the junta police and soldiers started to destroy people’s houses in Yebaw Kwetthit Ward at 9:00 am on Wednesday.
  • In Taunggyi in Shan South, the Shan Youth's Federal Democratic Army (SYFDA - Rangers ) warned the Royal Taunggyi Hotel to close their Play House Bar and Club that distracts
  • youths from the revolution.
  • The Shan Human Rights Federation released data it collected about human rights violations by the military junta in Ywangan Township in the Danu ethnic self-administered area and on
  • Wednesday.
  • On Tuesday, Poet Myo Tayzar Mg was sentenced to two years in prison under Section 505 (a) at the junta court in Nay Pyi Taw’s Dakkina Prison.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In an interview with the PVTV, the officer of Cobra Operation said that the junta armed forces had suffered great losses in the People’s Defensive War as they are forced to fight and
  • are controlled and under pressure.
  • Somewhere in Kutkhine in Shan north, there was fighting between the junta army and the MNDAA on 8 May. According to the Kokang, four junta soldiers died and sevn others were
  • injured.
  • According to the Chin National Organisation/Chin National Defence Force (CNO/CNDF), there were 13 battles between them and the junta armed forces in March and April.
  • Reportedly, 105 junta soldiers died.
  • On Tuesday night, the CNDF conducted a surprise attack on the junta army stationed in the staff housing in Taungphila Ward in Kalay. According to CNO on Wednesday, about six junta
  • soldiers might have died.

The Military Council

  • In Hakha in Chin State, the house of U Shan Man, an MP for the Chin National League for Democracy- CNLD, was sealed off on 12 January. However, it was given back on 10 May.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that they would focus on the peace process and give priority to the registered ethnic armed organisations when they start discussions.
  • According to the military junta, U Bo Bo Nge, the Vice-Chair of the Central Bank, was charged at Phayagone Police Station in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday after an investigation by the Anti-
  • Corruption Commission.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that 10 ethnic armed organisations invited by the junta leader himself had registered to attend the peace discussions. He also criticized
  • the others that would not join them.

Summary on 12 May

  • In Yangon, protests and guerrilla revolutionary activities, which had not been visible for a time, resumed. Throughout the country, there were many kinds of anti-junta movements.
  • In Sagaing Region, there were heavy battles between local PDFs and junta armed forces. Despite the loss of members on both sides, there were more casualties among the junta
  • soldiers.
  • In Kayin State, the members of the junta armed forces could not compete against the defensive war of more determined local defence forces. Consequently, they suffered great
  • losses there. Even in the Kokang area which had been silent for a long time, there was fighting again.
  • In Karenni State, local PDFs got the better of the junta army which suffered great losses. The same was true in Chin State.
