The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the Ministry of Defence-NUG, there were attacks on four camps of the junta army and Pyusawti in Ye-U of Sagaing Region were fired on at about 6:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, about 10 junta members including 2 officers died.
  • On 6 May, the Minister of Defence- NUG and the Minister of Information, Communication and Technology- NUG met with the members of Federal Wings.
  • On Wednesday, the ethnic revolution organizations and the NUG released a joint statement calling on ASEAN to join hands with outside partners including the United Nations when providing humanitarian assistance.
  • At 1:00 pm Wednesday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Township People’s Administrations from Mandalay Region and Magwe Region.
  • In Pulaw Township under martial law in Taninthayi Region, Myeik District Defence Force Regiment (1) completed their basic military training Batch (7) on Tuesday.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Butalin of Sagaing Region, there was a battle between the junta army and local PDF at about 9:00 am Thursday.
  • In Pale, the PDFs attacked the junta army stationed in town with heavy artillery on Wednesday night. Reportedly, 9 junta soldiers were seriously injured.
  • In Pale Township, there was an attack on the junta army stationing in Kandauk Police Station on Wednesday night. Reportedly, no less than 10 junta soldiers died.
  • On the Monywa-Mandalay Road, there were mine attacks on a convoy of 14 military trucks at about 2:00 pm Wednesday. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Khin-U Township, 2 junta soldiers were killed and their guns were confiscated at 12:40 pm Wednesday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta armed forces set fire to two local villages at about 6:00 am Thursday.
  • In Monywa, anti-junta youth protested against the Chinese Government on Thursday, burning Chinese flags.
  • In a local village on the Monywa-Amyint Roadside, a combined rally conducted a public talk on the current situation of the revolution on Thursday.
  • In Myinmu Township, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy at about 6:00 am Wednesday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Banmauk Township, PDFs conducted a burial for the 6 members of the SNA who had died in a local battle.
  • In the west of Banmauk Township, the junta army and the SNA have been recruiting by force at the rate of one person per household.
  • In Myaung Township, there was an attack using 40mm grenades on Kyaukyit Police Station at about 3:00 pm Tuesday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died.
  • Thway Thauk Revolutionary Force and Yesagyo people called on Captain Saalone to give back 1.7 million baht which he had taken to buy weapons for Pakkoku PDF of Magwe Region.
  • On Thursday morning, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township of Bago Region, local PDFs caught 11 junta officers and soldiers in their army based in Mone at about 5:00 pm Wednesday. On the way, a junta soldier was shot dead as he tried to run away.
  • In Moekaung in Kachin State, there was a bomb explosion near General Administration Office on Wednesday night.
  • According to Justice for Myanmar, Mexico appointed Sit Tai Aung, a Myanmar crony and arms dealer, to be the honorary consul.
  • The IDP Rescue Network conducted a 1,000 lakh MMK challenge to provide rice and water for the IDPs in Karenni State.
  • After the ASEAN Summit on Thursday, the President of Indonesia claimed that the human rights violations of the military junta in Myanmar are unforgivable and that it is necessary to stop violence to protect the people.
  • According to Blood Money Campaign- MM, they will send an open letter containing the voices of Myanmar people to The G7 Meeting to be held in Japan from 19 to 21 May.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Hakha Township of Chin State, the junta army conducted aerial bombing on the headquarters of CDF-Sentang and Kwarpi Village on Thursday morning.
  • In Hakha Township, two members of the CDF lost their lives as they stepped over a mine set by the junta army in Kyunggyone Village on Tuesday.
  • In Kawthoolei Administration Area under Karen National Union, the junta army burnt over 40 houses including a school and a church.
  • In Mutraw District under KNU Brigade (5), 90 junta soldiers including officers died and 60 others got injured in local battles in April.
  • In the Kawthoolei Area, 1736 junta soldiers including military officers died in local battles over four months.
  • The Chair of the KNU Brigade (6) stated that the dialogue would be much better than the current armed attacks.
  • The Karenni National Defence Force claimed that it would investigate the case of people demanding money using their logo.
  • The New Mon State Party submitted an application to resign from the PPST consisting of the EAOs which have signed the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement.
  • The SSPP/SSA confessed that it had investigated the case of a man who was tied up with rope and burned.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that development in agriculture would assist the GDP growth.
  • The junta Union Election Commission announced on Wednesday that they had rejected the registration of the Wuntharnu Political Party.
  • The team led by the junta Navy Chief joined the online meeting of ASEAN Navy Leaders hosted by the Philippines.
  • On Wednesday, the junta Minister of International Cooperations, the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Saudi Ambassador to Myanmar discussed promoting cooperation between the two countries.
  • The junta Ministry of Energy decided to suspend issuing and renewing the licenses of oil wells and mines in Magwe, Sagaing, Mandalay, Bago and Ayeyarwaddy as those businesses are under control of the PDFs.
  • The junta Education Department announced that heads, teachers and education staff are not to accept any money from students.
  • The military junta announced that it would identify and take action against people with weapons that are not registered within the specified period.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Health on Wednesday, 254 more people tested COVID-19 positive and a patient died.

Summary on 12 May

  • The junta leader claimed that the GDP would be improved via the agricultural sector. However, in reality, the input resources such as chemical fertilizer have been expensive and farmers have had to run away as the junta armed forces have been burning villages.
  • At the ASEAN Summit, it was stated that the human rights violations of the junta army could not be forgiven and there must be a stop to the violence. Consequently, the military junta might have to face with more international pressure.
