The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Union Day which fell on Saturday, the NUG organized a ceremony themed 75th anniversary of Panglong Agreement via video conferencing and present on the occasion were representatives from 24 countries.
  • At the ceremony in honour of 75th anniversary of Panglong Agreement, Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that it was the time of strength via unity of ethnic people to put an end to the military dictatorship, like they had done to colonial rule.
  • On Saturday, KPICT, a leading political organization in Kachin State, sent a statement welcoming the inclusion of the Panglong Agreement and the Panglong Commitments in the action plans of the NUG.
  • In the statement on Union Day, the 88 Generation expressed their congratulations to the NUG and NUCC on celebrating the historic 75th anniversary of Panglong Agreement. They also stated that they would join hands for a true federal union.
  • On 75th Union Day, the NUCC stated that they would be devoted to the end of all forms of military dictatorship, implementation of Panglong Agreement and Commitments, and establishment of a federal democratic union in accordance with the aspirations of the public.
  • In the statement to 75th anniversary of Panglong Agreement, CRPH said that with the appreciation for the public’s mandate, they would keep their commitments to building a federal democratic union which could guarantee equality and self-determination.
  • In a weekly meeting on Friday, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG said that CDM play a leading role in the revolution and it was such a source of inspiration.
  • On Friday, Tantsi Township Public’s Administration- NUG announced that staff members in Tantsi Township of Sagaing Region were to resign from their positions and join the CDM by 21st February at the latest.

Revolution Activities

  • In Tamway Township of Yangon Region, youth expressed their desire against the military dictatorship and artificial celebration of Union Day by burning tyres at 10:00 am Saturday.
  • In Insein Prison, political prisoners would be on a hunger strike for 3 days, starting from Saturday.
  • On Saturday, Shwepyitha youth conducted a Black TV Day against the faked celebration of Union Day.
  • In Insein Township, there was a bomb explosion at Mudita Housing (2) at about 7:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, a woman was injured.
  • In Hlaingthaya Township, a military car on patrol was attacked with mines by From Zero To Hero at about 5:00 am Saturday.
  • In Tontay Township, there were explosions at 3 township departments on Friday and Saturday.
  • On a YBS bus, youth and students carried out a talk against the military dictatorship and the faked ceremony of Union Day.
  • In Kyimyindine Township, there was an explosion in Thayettaw (South) Ward on Saturday morning.
  • In Thanlyin Township, youth protested against Union Day celebration by the military junta on Saturday.
  • In Kalay of Sagaing Region, local people stepped over the photos of Min Aung Hlaing on streets and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Monywa, Latbadaung Strike Committee conducted a Black TV movement on Saturday.
  • As a 370-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin, Sayar San PDF demolished a MyTel telecom tower at 10:00 am Friday. Reportedly, they said they would use it for weapon production.
  • In Tantsi Township, the junta armed forces raided Karbaunggya village at about 4:00 pm Friday and set fire to houses.
  • In Wetlet Township, 4 young people were arrested two weeks ago, with the accusation that they had taken PDF training. So far, they have been out of touch with their families.
  • In Dawei of Taninthayi Region, youth conducted an indoors strike against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, youth and students conducted an anti-junta movement on Saturday.
  • In Pyinmanar Township of Nay Pyi Taw, local PDF carried out bomb attacks at Myawaddy Bank and Yautthwa-In administration office on Saturday morning.
  • In Nay Pyi Taw, local PDF conducted bomb attacks on the No. (3) police station and oil storage house on Friday night. Reportedly, 2 junta policemen died.
  • In Phakant of Kachin State, a rally of 500 people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday. They also expressed their support for the KIA, PDF and the NUG.
  • In Madaya Township of Mandalay Region, a military convoy was attacked with 8 mines by a local PDF on Friday.
  • In Sintkai, a local PDF conducted a remote bomb attack on a township administration office, where the junta army had been stationing.
  • At about 6:00 am Saturday, two bombs exploded in front of township combination office in Phakant.
  • In Myitkyina, youth hung an anti-junta banner in front of Sitapu high school on Saturday.
  • In Phakant, a rally of multi-ethnic women marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Pindaya Township of Shan South, U Phay Win, a pro-USDP man in Nyaungkaut village, was shot dead on Friday evening.
  • In Phyapone, Kyaiklatt and Ataung of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there were 3 bomb explosions on Friday night. Reportedly, a non-CDM staff member was injured in Ataung.
  • On Saturday afternoon, the junta army shot 2 young motorbikers in Pathein. Reportedly, a young man was injured.
  • In Taungoo of Bago Region, a staff member of the junta electricity department was shot dead on Saturday afternoon.
  • In Bago, university students conducted an indoors strike against the military dictatorship on the 75th anniversary of the Panglong Agreement.
  • According to People’s Destination, 2 staff members of the junta air force joined the public as they could no longer stand air strikes on civilians.
  • UNHCR announced on Friday that they had to carry out more activities in terms of emergency response after a year of the military coup.
  • In Norway, CRPH Support Group led a protest against the sale of shares from Norway-based Telenor to the military junta on Friday.
  • On Saturday, India for Myanmar sent an open letter to the Myanmar Embassy in New Delhi, calling on Ambassador and embassy staff to stand with the public.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In the ceremony on the 75th anniversary of Panglong Agreement on Saturday, Chief Military Officer of the KIA said that the NUG must lead national unity contained in the Panglong Agreement and all ethnic people were to join hands for it.
  • According to the military junta, 11 EAOs attended the diamond jubilee of Union Day celebration.
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, local CDF attacked Hteway camp of the junta army. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.
  • In Phalan Township, CNDF announced on Friday that 5 junta soldiers had died in an ambush on a military convoy.
  • In Tamu of Sagaing Region, the junta army was attacked with mines by a combined force of PDF and ABSDF on Friday evening. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • On 75th Union Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that ethnic people were to help each other and build a union based on federal and democracy.
  • At the time of the COVID-19 4th wave, the military junta organized a grand ceremony on 75th Union Day with over 5000 people.
  • On Saturday, the military junta announced that half of the prison sentence was reduced for Daw Nang Khin Htwe Myint, Karen State Chief Minister who had been sentenced to 80 years.
  • Reportedly, 814 prisoners were released all over the country, on condition that they would have to serve the remaining sentence, together with the new one, if they commit something wrong again.
  • The military junta announced that 7 prisoners from Sri Lanka had been released and deported. In addition, legal cases were closed for 46 people in relation to the AA.
  • Among over 800 prisoners who were released all over the country, 100 people were from Insein Prison in Yangon. Reportedly, there was no political prisoners among them.
  • On Saturday, People’s Party led by U Ko Ko Gyi released a statement, calling for efforts in a political way to implement democracy and federalism in accordance with the aspirations of the public.
  • According to mobile operators, the military junta instructed a nationwide internet blackout from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm Saturday.
  • According to confidential documents of the military junta, the amount of fuel oil has been reduced for cars of the junta ministers and chief ministers.
  • On Saturday, the junta union government office instructed an educational campaign for the public to be thrifty with electricity and water in summer.

Summary on 12 February

  • Saturday marked the special occasion in which national leaders decades ago had signed Panglong Agreement. In many parts of the country, there were still heavy battles after the military coup. Despite an invitation of the military junta to the Union Day ceremony, only 11 EAOs attended it.
  • On Union Day, the military junta declared amnesty of 800 prisoners all over the country. However, they were just criminals sentenced for theft and drugs. There were criticisms on exclusion of political prisoners and those who had been unjustly arrested after the military coup. According to political analysts, it was not compliant with the ASEAN consensus for the release of all prisoners.
  • On Union Day, the military junta violated the right of information, internet freedom and human rights by an internet blackout from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm.
