The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Friday, Acting President of the NUG expressed his disappointment, via Twitter, about the remarks of Cambodian Prime Minister, Chair of ASEAN, on the Myanmar people.
  • On Friday, there was a meeting between the delegation led by Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG and the Deputy Foreign Minister of the US in Washington D.C.
  • The Deputy Foreign Minister of the US said that they would keep close cooperation with partners in ASEAN to resolve the issue of Myanmar.
  • In an exclusive interview with RFA, Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG said that it was a one-sided attitude of the ASEAN Chair holding the view that they would not do what the military junta dislikes.
  • On Friday, there was a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs NUG and Director of Democracy and Human Rights of the US President.
  • Reportedly, there was a meeting between the Minister of Human Rights-NUG and the MPs who would be able to help with Myanmar’s affairs at the Parliament in the Czech Republic.
  • On Friday, the interim Chin National Consultative Council announced that in cooperation with Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment-NUG, they had been making arrangements for the sale of Spring Revolution special bonds for the Chin areas.

Revolution Activities

  • In Thandaung of Kayin State, a man named U Kyaw Nyein was shot dead at about 10:30 am Thursday. Reportedly, a school teacher near him was hit with a bullet and died as well.
  • In Hpakant of Kachin State, local people marched for the KIA, PDF and NUG on Friday. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mawlamyein of Mon State, local PDF conducted a sound bomb explosion as a warning to Glow Bar on Thursday night.
  • According to Shan Youth's Federal Democratic Army (SYFDA Rangers), they arrested a junta soldier on patrol near Play House Club of Royal Taunggyi Hotel in Shan South. As they were preparing for an investigation, that soldier tried to run away and thus, he was shot and lost his life.
  • On Friday, Shan Youth's Federal Democratic Army (SYFDA Rangers) announced that they had closed all the streets in Taunggyi for a day.
  • In South Dagon Myothit Township of Yangon Region, 2 bombs exploded at the house of U Saw, administrator of Ward (25), on Friday morning. After that, there were 3 bomb explosions again at the time of inspection by the junta army.
  • On Friday morning, youth and strike committees marched against the military dictatorship in the downtown area of Yangon, raising a banner- ‘The Full meaning of Survival, We will only get it from Revolution’.
  • On Friday, youth, students and DPNS conducted a protest against the military dictatorship on Friday in memory of Ko Zin Ko Tun, a member of Myingyan Ba-Ka-Tha, who lost his life last year.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks Union protested against the junta rice-offering ceremony on Kasone Full Moon Day.
  • In Chanaye Thazan Township, a man was shot while riding a motorbike on Thursday afternoon.
  • In Ye-U Township of Sagaing Region, nearly 40 people including 3 monks were arrested by the junta army in Monetaibin Village as hostages on Thursday. The following morning, 20 dead bodies of these villagers were found.
  • In Khin-U Township, junta soldiers set fire to 20 houses in Magyioat Village at about 2:00 pm Thursday.
  • In Yinmabin District, a convoy of 10 military trucks was attacked with mines by a local PDF at about 9:00 am Thursday.
  • On Thursday, there were attacks on Pale Police Station and the junta armed forces in town. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and no less than 10 others were injured.

  • In Myinmu Township, Black Eagle Defence Force announced on Thursday that there had been a raid into a camp of local PDF on the morning of 9 May and 8 members had lost their lives.
  • In the east of Shwebo Township, PDFs attacked with 18 frontline mines against the junta army setting fire to villages on Thursday morning. Reportedly, there were casualties among 11 soldiers.
  • In Kani Township, there were battles against the junta armed forces on Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa road section for 2 days last year. In memory of PDF members and local people who lost their lives then, Kani People’s Defence Force -KPDF organized an event on Thursday.
  • On Friday, Kalay General Strike marched against the military dictatorship, raising a banner - ‘Let’s fight together with the PDFs to end the suffering of the IDPs’.
  • On Friday, youth from Latbadaung Area took part in a photo campaign against the blood-stained money of the military junta.

  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of villagers marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • As a 429-day protest, a powerful rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Myanaung of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there were bomb explosions in the compound of the municipal office and in front of local police station on Friday morning.
  • On Friday, Myohla PDF announced that gold rafts along Ayeyarwaddy River had a terrible effect on the environment and thus, the people working there were to leave the area within 24 hours or else they would be shot.
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, a convoy of 7 military trucks with 100 junta soldiers was attacked with mines by local PDF on Thursday evening.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, women and youth conducted an anti-junta movement on Friday morning, calling for the public’s participation in the revolution.
  • In Nattalin Township of Bago Region, local PDF carried out a guerrilla attack on the junta army at about 8:00 am Friday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Pulaw Township, military convoys were attacked with mines twice near Pawutgone Village on Thursday night and Friday morning. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among the 40 junta soldiers.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • Lahu Democratic Union-LDU announced that they would take action against their secretary for saying without their permission that LDU would attend the junta peace discussion.
  • On Thursday, Pa-O National Federal Council- PNFC announced that to build a union of federal democracy with true peace, all forces related to Spring Revolution, including the NUCC, CRPH, NUG and PDF, must be involved.
  • On Friday, Karenni National Defence Force Brigade (3) Pekone Zone warned the Pao People’s Army that they would fight against them as the enemy if the latter continued to cooperate with the military junta.
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, a military convoy was attacked with mines on Thursday. According to local CDF, 10 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • From 3 to 9 May, CDFs attacked the junta armed forces on Hakha-Phalan-Kalay and Matupi- Mindat road sections. According to the Chin National Front, 68 junta soldiers died.
  • In Beelin Township of Mon State, a combined force of KNLA and PDF conducted an attack with mortars on the local police station on Friday morning.
  • In Beelin Township, 92 people, including the children under 18, were arrested at the camp of the junta army and Border Guard Force in Laykay Village, according to the KNU.

The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing falsely claimed that the ethnic armed organizations did not attend the peace discussion as they were related to the PDF and CRPH or they were in relations with foreign countries.
  • According to local sources, the military junta has been strengthening their armed forces and rations in Putao Area.
  • On 26 May, there will be a hearing at court regarding the charge under the Secrets Act against Australian Professor Sean Turnell, State Counsellor and three ministers.

  • According to sources from Ministry of Communication, the military junta would keep tighter control of privacy by collecting taxes on IMEI of mobile handsets with 3 USD or 6000 MMK for each.
  • According to the junta media, the junta Ministry of Immigration and Population has been making arrangements to reissue Tourist Visa via the Online e-Visa system.
  • The junta Ministry of Health announced that 1,222 medical graduates in 2020 and 2021 would have to be government employees for 3 years.

  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the junta peace committee and Karen National Democratic Party for the election with proportional representation.
  • The junta Central Bank announced that they had been arranging for action against 19 companies for their failure to enter export earnings and directors of those companies had been blacklisted.
  • For the rice-offering ceremony to over 10,000 monks in Mandalay, the military junta has been making arrangements with temporary monks.
  • In Kawthaung of Taninthayi Region, the junta army arrested no less than 40 civilians on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, junta soldiers at Thayettaw Inspection Camp made all passengers get off buses and walk. They also inspected their national registration cards-NRC and threatened those without NRC that they would shoot them dead.

Summary on 13 May

  • Hopefully, the meeting between the NUG and Deputy Foreign Minister of the US will bring positive outcomes and the US government will support more for Myanmar’s affairs.
  • In Sagaing Region with a powerful revolution, the junta armed forces have been setting fire to whole villages and committing mass murder. Despite their propaganda, local people do not trust
  • them at all.
  • Throughout the country, PDFs became powerful and the military junta had a great loss. In the near future, local PDFs might be able to conduct invasive attacks to take control of camps and
  • towns.
  • Like activities of armed revolution, protests against the military dictatorship were still in great momentum.
