Spring Revolution Daily News for 14 September 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • The NUG Ministry of Electricity and Energy announced on Monday that the public could pre-pay for power bills. 
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence announced that during a year of the People’s Defensive War, over 3,000 civilians had lost their lives due to the violent activities of the junta army, mostly in Sagaing Region. 
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence published a report on the actions taken for the case where 10 people had been murdered in Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region. Reportedly, a military court will be set up as soon as possible under the instruction of the People’s Security and Defence Council to investigate the perpetrators. 
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Labor, it is trying to resolve the issue of over 200 Myanmar workers who were dismissed for no apparent reason in Thailand and is making some progress. 
  • Tamu Township Public Administration announced that non-CDM staff should resign as soon as possible or else they would be punished severely. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • To raise funds for the revolution, Daw Thant Wai Kyaw, MP of Sagaing Region, sold her ruby ring and locket in an auction. 
  • In Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region, local people peacefully expressed their desire by chanting slogans on Tuesday for the recognition of the NUG and for the United Nations to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador,. 
  • On their 551st day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday. 
  • In Kani Township, a combined rally of six villages protested against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding signs for democracy. 
  • In Monywa, local PDFs fired mortars at the junta Ma-U gate on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died. 
  • In Monywa Township, a member of the junta police was caught on Monday. According to a PDF, the policeman tried to fight back and run away. Consequently, he was shot dead during the chase. 
  • In Myinmu Township, a troop of junta soldiers on foot was attacked with mines by local PDFs on Monday. Reportedly, 15 members of the junta army died. 
  • In Kawlin Township, the junta army arrived at Zeegone Village on Monday evening and killed two men. 
  • In Monywa, PDF members arrested the car driver Myo Chit who was doing all sorts of bad things in the area. On Tuesday, the Township Public Administration published a video of his statements related to crimes he committed in the town. 
  • In Tamu Township, a local PDF confiscated alcoholic drinks for the junta army and illegal drugs from some youths in a car. Reportedly, they burnt them all on Tuesday. 
  • In Pale Township, the junta army set fire to Mwaytone Village for a third time at 8:15 am on Tuesday. 
  • In Mingaladone Township in Yangon Region, the Yangon UG Association (YUA) conducted bomb attacks on the junta recruitment force and engineering force at about 7:00 pm Monday. 
  • In Insein Township, there was a grenade attack on the junta army gate at the corner of City golf course at about 6:00 pm on Monday. 
  • On Tuesday morning, a monk expressed his desire at Mandalay Zaycho Market for the United Nations to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as the Representative of the Myanmar people at the United Nations and to reject the military junta’s candidate for the job. 
  • In Nganzun Township in Mandalay Region, a local guerrilla force attacked Pyu Saw Htee leader Nga Moe and his five followers in Phaunggadaw Village at about 8:30 pm on Sunday. 
  • On Tuesday, a rally of anti-junta monks led a movement for public participation in the revolution. 
  • In Myaing Township in Magwe Region, a local PDF announced that non-CDM staff in the area were to resign by the end of September at the latest. 
  • According to Myaing PDF, Asean Hein, a policeman from Pauk Township Police Station, joined them together with some weapons and a set of handcuffs. 
  • In Htilin Township, the public has cooperated well at the PDF inspection points. According to YDF Htilin PDF, it has been implementing the rule of law in the area. 
  • In Pakkoku Township, 60 lakh MMK was collected within three days via the campaign of Comrade Putu who was involved in the attack at the junta inspection gate on the Ayeyarwaddy River Bridge. 
  • In Pakkoku Township, two PDF members escaped from the local prison. Reportedly, they arrived back at their force and they would continue their service. 
  • In Daungnay Prison in Magwe, prison authorities have been violating the human rights of political prisoners. 
  • Somewhere on the Dawei to Htiki road section, the junta army was attacked by a combined force of PDFs and the Kawthoolei Army on 6 September. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers, including an officer, died. 
  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, Mg Yu, a former soldier and the junta administrator of Taungyarkan Village, was shot dead at about 4:00 pm on Monday. 
  • In Longlone Township, there was a guerrilla attack on a car carrying Pyu Saw Htee members on Monday. Reportedly, two of them died and two others were injured. 
  • In Longlone Township, there was a campaign on Monday evening for members of the junta armed forces to join the CDM. 
  • In Dawei Township, the junta army arrested two young men, including a former political prisoner, on Monday evening. 
  • In Muse Township in Shan North, there was gunfire in front of the KBZ Bank in the compound of the Thein Than Chi bus terminal at about 1:30 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and another one was injured. 
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, a rally of gems mine workers expressed their objection to the Shanni National Army (SNA) in cooperation with the junta army. 
  • For a self-help high school and library in a village of Kayin State, Yangon Western University Students’ Union and the Maesu Library donated books and stationery. 
  • In Ye Town in Mon State, an unexploded parcel bomb was found at the entrance to the junta interrogation office on Monday morning. 
  • On Tuesday, Putao Township PDF announced that it had joined the refresher course on technology for battles in town. 
  • According to the team leader of the United Nations Investigation on Myanmar, Facebook provided millions of pieces of evidence which would support legal action against Myanmar military leaders for their genocide and war crimes. 
  • On Tuesday, Human Rights Watch published a detailed report on human rights violations and the inhumane activities of the military junta in Myanmar. 

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • On Monday, responsible personnel from the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) attended the opening ceremony of the Kachin State Comprehensive University. Reportedly, NUG leaders were pictured at the event. 
  • According to DVB, five members of the junta Border Guard Force (BGF) and junta soldiers in Rakhine State joined the Arakan Army (AA) on Monday. 
  • In Mone Township under the Karen National Union (KNU), a junta captain told local people from two villages to leave the area. According to KNU Central, he also threatened that the villages would be burnt down if the villagers failed to do as told. 
  • In the area under the control of KNU Brigade 6, some junta soldiers were caught by Cobra Troop. Reportedly, those prisoners of war requested not to be sent back home. 
  • With the arrangement of the KNU, children of CDM soldiers started their schooling. 
  • According to the Karenni National Defence Force (KNDF) on Tuesday, there were casualties among no less than four junta soldiers, including a captain, in fighting in Loikaw and Dimawso. 
  • CDF-Matupi Fundraising Committee announced that it had started selling tickets for the fund. 

The Military Council 

  • In an interview with RIA, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was not possible to build a Russian base-camp in Myanmar. 
  • In an exclusive interview with RIA, Min Aung Hlaing said that it was still early to say whether the election would be cancelled and the decision would depend on the situation. 
  • The junta leader claimed that COVID-19 cases were now under control in the country. 
  • In a statement on the 7th anti-human trafficking day, the junta minister of home affairs mentioned that most cases of human trafficking in Myanmar were forced ones. 
  • The junta Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that U Min Thein, the junta representative to the UN and international organizations, had attended the IAEA General Conference in Vienna, Austria. 
  • The junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce announced that mineral exports were worth over 160 million USD for the first five months of the current fiscal year. 
  • According to the junta Union Supreme Court, there would be a hearing for the appeal of State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi on 6 October. 
  • In Aunglan Township in Magwe Region, the military junta confiscated 78.74 acres of land for the Myanmar Economic Corporation No. 1 iron factory.
  • In Hinthada Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta forced village administrators to go on night patrols in the area. However, no one has done so. 

Summary on 14 September 

  • The junta leader tends to promise local and international community every now and then that an election will be held. 
  • However, he was not sure about it in an interview with Russian media. In other words, he has been arranging to extend the lifespan of the military dictatorship. As for the general public, they will surely continue with the revolution. 
  • In a year of the People’s Defensive War, more than 3,000 people have lost their lives due to the violent activities of the junta armed forces. The figure might be higher than that as they tend to do such unlawful things in secret.
