Spring Revolution Daily News for 15 April 2023 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Minister of Defence-NUG claimed that the opening ceremony of the administration office in Pazigyi Village, on which the junta army had conducted airstrikes, was a community event, not a secret military meeting. 
  • At 3:00 pm Thursday, there was a meeting (14/2023) between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration-NUG and District Public’s Administration. 
  • In the joint press conference by the UK Ambassador to the UN and Myanmar Ambassador to the UN, the loss of 168 people in the junta’s airstrikes in Kantbalu Township was called a war crime as well as a violation of international laws. 

Revolution Activities 

  • Citing the report by the UN experts, Justice for Myanmar stated that the military junta had secretly bought weapons from North Korea in 2022. 
  • In an interview by Mizzima, Mg Si Thu Hlaing, a junta soldier from Ka-La-Ya (247) who was arrested by a Karenni Revolution Force, confessed that they had carried out a massacre of over 30 people in Nam Naing Village of Pin Laung Township in Shan State. 
  • In Sagaing Region, Taze Township General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on the second day of Thingyan. 
  • For the occasion of Thingyan in the revolution period, Chaung-U Township Youth Association created slogans with the content and constructive feedback related to the revolution. 
  • In Kani Township, there was an anti-junta march on Monywa-Yagyi-Kalaywa Road, in memory of the 10 martyrs who lost lives in the revolution two years ago. 
  • In Salingyi Township, over 5000 people from the local villages on the western bank of Chindwin River had to run away in the nighttime due to an invasion of the junta army during Thingyan. 
  • To support the victims in Pazigyi Village, the members of Yinmabin and Salingyi Committee have been making a collection by performing Thingyan slogans. 
  • A combined rally of local villages on the Chindwin River Bank marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, raising an anti-junta banner. 
  • In Kawa Township of Bago Region, local PDF flew their flag at half-mast to express sorrow for the loss of more than 150 people in the junta’s airstrike on Pazigyi Village in Kantbalu Township. 
  • In Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a military car, killing four junta soldiers. 
  • In New York of the United States, there was a protest against the inhumane aerial attacks of the military junta on Pazigyi Village, where over 160 people including children and women had lost their lives. 
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe protested against the military dictatorship, chanting Thingyan slogans. 
  • In Pwint Phyu Township of Magwe Region, allegedly a Pyusawti leader, who had been organizing gambling events, was shot dead on Thursday. 
  • In Myinmu, there was a grenade attack on the junta army stationed in No. (1) Basic Education High School. Reportedly, there may have been casualties. 
  • On Thursday, PDFs conducted attacks via drone on the police station in Yinmabin Township and Kyardat Police Station in Salingyi Township. 
  • In Pauk Township, the PDFs attacked a junta army camp in Shwe Bone Thar Village on Friday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers including a captain died. 
  • According to the information and communication team on Friday afternoon, a PDF regiment was established in Ayeyarwady Region. 
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, the Rural Land provided IDPs with food and drinking water. 
  • In Kyimyindine Township of Yangon Region, the military junta instructed the departments to send two staff members per day to the pandal in Zaygyi Ward in Thingyan. 
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, there was a protest against the junta’s Thingyan with anti-junta text on Myeik-Dawei Union Road on Friday. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Tandabin Township of Bago Region, there was a battle between the junta army and a combined force of the KNLA + PDF in the east of Kayinnigone Village. Reportedly, there were a large number of casualties among junta soldiers and three guns were confiscated. 
  • According to Cobra Column, 19 junta soldiers died and 11 weapons were confiscated in the battles near Myawaddy for three days. As for the revolution force, they lost four comrades. 
  • In Hakha Township of Chin State, an alliance of Chin National Army managed to destroy military vehicles including two armoured ones near Chunkyone Village on Falam-Hakha Road. 

The Military Council 

  • To please the military junta, Yangon Media Group wrote that the downtown area of Yangon was crowded with people enjoying the water festival. 
  • In Sittway of Rakhine State, a traditional scented wood grinding competition was organized at U Ottama Hall on the very first day of Thingyan. Reportedly, present on the occasion were the junta Chief Minister and Western Regional Military Officer, together with their wives. 
  • There was high criticism of the artists such as Paing Dagun, G Fatt and Floke Rose, who performed at the pandal of the junta armed forces in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. 

Summary on 14 April 

  • The military junta has been making their Thingyan crowded by summoning the staff by force. 
  • In Chin State, the junta army had a great loss and even their armoured vehicles were damaged. As usual, they will conduct airstrikes on the civilians.
