The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Acting President of the NUG said that they had focused on formation the previous year and thus, 2022 would be the time for strengthening military and other affairs. According to him, there are 257 brigades of the People’s Defence Force-PDF and about 500 local PDFs in cooperation with Ministry of Defence-MOD.
  • At the 58 th meeting of the NUG, Acting President said that it was necessary to get ready for the fight against the enemy.
  • At the government meeting, Union Prime Minister of the NUG called on the Ministry of Defence to seek ways and take effective action as the junta armed forces have been setting fire to villages in Sagaing Region on a daily basis.
  • Reportedly, JCC Strategy, a coordination committee of the NUCC, has been writing up strategies for the revolution. As for responsible ministries of the NUG, they are to carry out activities based on those strategies to end the revolution successfully and quickly.
  • In the meeting with Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General to Myanmar on Monday, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN warned that all the quick fixes just make the military dictatorship long lasting and create the vicious circle of violence and instability.

Revolution Activities

  • A US Representative to the United Nations said that the military dictator in Myanmar had been stepping over the lives of the people to hold onto the power and the lives of women throughout the country were more and more at risk due to violent activities.
  • On Tuesday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army arrested a family from Ohnchaw Village as hostages. The woman lawyer from that family committed suicide by drinking pesticide. Reportedly, she passed away on Tuesday evening.
  • In Lewe Township of Nay Pyi Taw, there was a mine explosion at the traffic lights near Bawzigone Village. Reportedly, the car of the traffic police got damaged.
  • In Sagaing Region, Kalay General Strike hung a banner against the military junta at a bridge in town on Tuesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, the junta army ruthlessly killed 8 people from Taohn Village for no apparent reason.
  • In Myinmu Township, PDF conducted a bomb attack via drones on the junta police camp in Tawchaung-U Village. Reportedly, 2 members of the junta armed forces died.
  • In Myinmu Township, a convoy of 6 military trucks was attacked with mines at two different places on their way from Sagaing to Monywa.
  • Reportedly, the junta army arrested the elder brother of Ko Saw Yan Paing, editor of Sagaing-based Zayyar Times.
  • In Thaketa Township of Yangon Region, a combined rally of local students’ union and RGY conducted a movement against the junta education in front of No. (3) High School.
  • Yangon Strike Committees stated that strike members were to take special caution as a large number of anti-junta activists in Yangon had been arrested.
  • According to Urban Guerrilla YPDF, they managed to attack 91 targets within 60 days as a part of the Nan Htike Aung military operation.
  • In Gyankhin Township of Ayeyarwaddy Region, young people carried out a campaign against the military dictatorship and the junta education at the high school in Yenantaung Village and the primary school in Nyaung Village on Tuesday.
  • In Ngaputaw Township, there was a fighting between the junta army and local PDF in the forest near Hsinngan Village. Reportedly, there were no casualties on both sides.
  • In Latbadan Township of Bago Region, Myint Shwe, administrator of Kyunggale Village, was assassinated by a local PDF at 11:25 am on 11 June.
  • According to township administration on Tuesday, local people have had to run away in Kanpetlet Township of Chin State due to the invasion of the junta army and they are in urgent need of help.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In a press conference on Tuesday, the Spokesperson of Arakan Army-AA said that hundreds of junta soldiers had joined them.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, local CDF attacked the junta army stationed at the town’s entrance at about 7:00 am Tuesday. They also did the same to the junta supporting troops.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, a combined force of Karen National Defence Organization-KNDO attacked the junta police camp in Wawlaymyein Sub-Township on Monday morning. Reportedly, they managed to rescue 9 PDF members in detention. They
  • also caught 5 police members alive.
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State, there was a fighting between a combined force of KNLA + PDF and the junta army in Guku Village. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and injured ones were carried away in 3 ambulances.
  • Spokesperson of the AA said that there had been activities carried out by the military junta seeking to create another war in peaceful Rakhine State.
  • In Fruso Township of Karenni State, there were heavy battles from 10 to 13 June. According to the KNDF, no less than 10 junta soldiers died and a large number of weapons were confiscated.
  • After the military coup in Myanmar, the number of students has increased at self-help schools in the areas under the control of Karen National Union-KNU.
  • On Sunday, the Chin Relief Funding Program (CRFP) announced that they had earned funding from the Tumi Lottery for the Chin National Revolution and provided it to 2 Chin defence forces.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that there would be worthwhile reward for information with regard to the NUG and PDF.
  • The junta Ministry of Education announced that students could enroll at universities of distance education for the 2022 academic year.
  • The second junta leader Soe Win urged responsible personnel from Rakhine State government and ministries to be free from corruption down to the grassroots level.
  • In Patheingyi Township of Mandalay Region, there was an argument among police members at Shwesayan Security Police Force on Sunday night. Reportedly, sergeant Soe Tint, who had shot dead second sergeant Wayan Phyo, was charged with murder at the local police station.
  • In Ayeyarwaddy Region, student enrollment at Hinthada Technological University is less than 10% and thus, the military junta has been calling parents of the students for a meeting since 11 June.

Summary on 14 June

  • The military tension has been heightening between the junta army and Arakan Army-AA. Consequently, there might be battles in the area anytime. According to the junta media, the second junta leader had visited the junta armed forces in Rakhine State for encouragement. At the same time, the AA stated that a large number of junta soldiers had joined them. Judging from that, members of the junta army have been discouraged without unity.
  • Due to the instruction of the NUG Acting President to fight the enemy, there might be heavy battles in the days to come.
  • As for Sagaing, Magwe, Chin, Karen and Kayin, there have been ongoing battles. Reportedly, the junta army has had a great loss there. It can be said that junta soldiers have war-fatigue with poor military performance and they are down-hearted.
