The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The National Unity Consultative Council-NUCC announced that a Myanmar Task Force, which would cooperate with ASEAN for the humanitarian assistance programme, had been established by the military junta and it did not represent the Myanmar people.
  • On Friday, International Day of Vesak 2022 was celebrated online and U Kyaw Moe Tun, Permanent Representative of Myanmar to the United Nations, delivered a speech there.
  • For harmonious cooperation between the public and Ministry of Education, a Basic Education Conference was conducted for 4 days.
  • The NUG wished Myanmar people health of body and peace of mind on the auspicious day, Kasone Full Moon Day, which fell on Saturday.
  • Daw Zin Mar Aung, Minister of Foreign Affairs-NUG, said that free and active foreign policies were not to be biased towards or against any side and they were just for political and democratic transitions as well as the establishment of federalism, the life-blood for the country.

Revolution Activities

  • The US-ASEAN Summit stated that they would keep calling for the immediate end to violence in Myanmar and the release of all political prisoners.
  • In Mingaladone Township of Yangon Region, an alliance of PDFs conducted an attack with 40mm grenades on the junta army Brigade (82) on No. (3) Road. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured.
  • In South Dagon Myothit Township, two bombs exploded at the house of U Saw, administrator of Ward (25), on Friday morning. Again, there were three bomb explosions in a row while the junta armed forces were making inspections. According to Special Task
  • Agency of Burma (STA), they had carried it out. Reportedly, a military truck was damaged and a junta soldier was injured.
  • In Hpakant, a rally of workers from various gems mines conducted a Kasone Banyan Tree Watering Protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, local PDF assassinated U Dawei, the junta administrator of Kabyagyi Village and Pyusawti leader, and his companion, a staff member from the Immigration Office at 6:00 pm Friday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, youth expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In the south of Kalay Township in Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have been dropping bombs via fighter jets, military helicopters and drones on the IDP camps.
  • As a 430-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Yinmabin Township, 3 troops of junta soldiers entered Tayawgyin Village at about 7:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, they set fire to the people’s houses.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of villagers led a march for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Ye-U Township, PDFs attacked the junta armed forces, which had been setting fire to villages, at 8:30 am Saturday. Reportedly, Mg Pyone, a PDF member, lost his life.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army raided the village of Hanlin Pyu Ancient City on the list of World Heritage on Friday and destroyed houses there.
  • As a 461-day protest, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Monywa-Mandalay Road, a military truck was attacked with mines by a local PDF. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, an alliance of 18 PDFs attacked the junta army, which had set fire to 4 villages in the area. Reportedly, 22 junta soldiers died.
  • According to local residents, there have been cases in which those under false pretence of PDFs demanded money via Viber from business owners and shopkeepers in Kalaw Township.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • Patron of Pao National Liberation Organization and a member of PPST said that the ethnic armed organizations which would attend the junta peace discussion had their own presentations as well as common objectives for the matters related to the whole country.
  • In Karenni State and Pao areas on the border, there were heavy battles between the junta armed forces and Karenni combined forces. On Saturday, Karenni State Consultation Council sent an open letter to Pao ethnic people, Pao National Organization and Pao National Liberation Organization that these battles were not intended to invade Pao ethnic and area affairs.
  • In Mindat Township of Chin State, local CDF conducted a guerrilla attack on a military convoy on Mindat-Matupi Road on Friday.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State, there was fighting between the junta army and KNLA near Mailun (Middle) Village on Friday morning. Reportedly, at least 2 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, Karenni National Defence Force, in cooperation with Rural Land Organization, donated stationery to the children in IDP camps on Saturday.
  • On Saturday morning, Mobye PDF conducted an attack on the secret patrol of the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (422) on the border of Karenni and Shan South. Reportedly, no less than 3 junta soldiers died.
  • According to Chin National Defence Force-CNDF on Thursday, they lost 5 members in Phalan Township of Chin State and Kalay Township of Sagaing Region from March to May.

The Military Council

  • There was a meeting between the junta Minister of Electricity and Energy and the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar.
  • According to the junta media, 28 people under the age of 18 were allowed to resign from the military service and they were transferred back to their guardians.
  • At 9:30 am Saturday, there was a ceremony of financial support to students from the families working for the junta election commissions in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • According to the junta media, the junta leaders encouraged junta soldiers and members of people’s army receiving medical treatment at various military hospitals.
  • There was an online meeting of the Myanmar COVID-19 Economic Relief Committee at No. (1) office building of the junta Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.

Summary on 14 May

  • With a large number of armed forces, the military junta has been making an effort to take control of Sagaing Region. However, the number of PDF members has just been on the rise due to their violent activities against local people and villages. With battles all over the area, the junta army had to use air strikes in Kalay.
  • In Karenni State, there were attacks on the junta army camps with many casualties among junta soldiers. In cooperation with the Pao National Organization, the military junta has been making arrangements to fight back against the Karenni combined forces. As it is just a plan to divide local ethnic people, PNO leaders should make reflections so that they are not used as stepping stones by the junta army.
  • As for Kayin, Chin and Magwe, they had battles against the junta armed forces. In Yangon, there were activities of guerrilla revolution and protests against the military dictatorship. As for Taninthayi Region, their revolution gained great momentum in recent days.
