Spring Revolution Daily News for 15 September 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • On Tuesday morning, the NUG conducted a meeting. There, the Union Prime Minister said that they were to make an effort in resource management as it would bring funds to them instead of the military junta. 
  • On his social media, the NUG Union Minister of Home Affairs U Lwin Ko Latt wrote that PDFs were to get ready for the Acting President’s announcement. 
  • In his weekly speech to PDFs on Wednesday, the NUG Union Minister of Defence said that people’s guerrilla attacks had been diminishing the junta army which is always disorganised. U Kyaw Zaw, an NUG spokesperson for the Acting President's Office, apologised on Wednesday for what he previously said about Rohingya people. 
  • The NUG Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that the junta armed forces had conducted over 190 attacks on schools in 13 states and regions. Reportedly, they had also stationed troops at schools and stored weapons at schools and used them as detention centers. 

Revolutionary Activities 

  • In Monywa Township in Sagaing Region, the Chindwin Attack Force announced on Wednesday that they had taken action against a local gang of criminals. 
  • In Indaw Township, five Pyu Saw Htee members, including a graduate of the Defence Services Academy (DSA), were assassinated by a local PDF. 
  • In Pale Township, there was a clash between the junta armed forces and local PDFs near Mwaytone Village at about 4:00 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and about 30 others were seriously injured. 
  • In Monywa, there was an attack at close range on junta soldiers on secret patrol near the University of Economics at 10:00 pm on Tuesday. According to Black Dragon Special Task Force, three junta soldiers died. 
  • In the west of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of local people marched for the end of the military dictatorship on Wednesday. 
  • In Khin-U Township, local people marched for the peaceful recognition of the NUG and for the United Nations to keep U Kyaw Moe Tun as Myanmar’s Ambassador, chanting slogans. 
  • On their 585th day of protest, people from Kalay marched against the military dictatorship on Wednesday, chanting slogans in support of the NUG and Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun. 
  • In Monywa Township, the junta army raided Nagardwin Village on Wednesday morning, firing mortars. They then set fire to the village. 
  • From 13 August to 13 September, Kalay District PDF Brigade 12 managed to collect over 300 lakh MMK for their drone project. 
  • In Butalin Township, the junta army attacked Pepyittaw Village at about 5:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, six people, including PDF members, lost their lives. 
  • In Sagaing Township, guerrillas donated food items to the fire victims from 18 households in Dibeyingwe Village which had been burnt by the junta army. 
  • In Myaung Township, a local education network has opened 30 self-help schools. Reportedly, they called for contributions to the education fund for those schools. 
  • On Panbingyi Road In Kyimyindine Township in Yangon Region, the junta army violently arrested participants at a demonstration calling for the United Nations (UN) to keep Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun on Tuesday evening. According to the Octopus Social Network, over 15 young people who attended the demonstration are now uncontactable. 
  • Amidst tight security measures in Yangon, the Falcon Revolutionaries Team hung a poster saying: ’We are writing the new history in blood to make the future beautiful’ on Wednesday morning. 
  • In North Okkalapa Township, two unexploded bombs were found near the junta traffic office in Ga Ward on Wednesday morning. 
  • In Mingala Taung Nyunt Township, a garage owner was shot in Kyidaw Ward on Tuesday evening. 
  • On Wednesday, a rally of anti-junta monks conducted a movement, calling for the UN to accept U Kyaw Moe Tun as the people’s ambassador and to reject the military junta. 
  • In Mandalay Region, Khine Gyi, a member of No. (10) Police Station, was shot dead by MDY PDF on the night of 8 September. 
  • At about 7:30 am on Wednesday, two members of the junta armed forces were shot dead on their patrol in Gonebo Ward of Kyauktu. 
  • According to the Htilin People’s Defence Force (YRPA), their health team provided healthcare services to 778 people from 16 villages and three IDP camps starting from June. 
  • In Pakkoku Township in Magwe Region, the abbot of Kandaw Village West Monastery was shot dead on Wednesday morning. 
  • In Yesagyo Township, a local PDF conducted an attack with six types of mines on the junta army invading the area with 50 arrested people from Waboe Village. 
  • In Dawei of Tanintharyi Region, the junta armed forces arrested five people, including a student from nursing school, for no apparent reason during their overnight guest inspection in town on Monday night. 
  • In Longlone Township, a former village administrator was shot dead at about 7:00 pm on Tuesday. 
  • In Waw Township in Bago Region, the local public administration released a statement on Tuesday that non-CDM staff were to join the public as quickly as possible. 
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, a large number of the junta armed forces raided a grocery shop in Hmawpone Village on Wednesday. Reportedly, they arrested two people including the shop owner. 
  • Based in Shan south, Force-36 Ranger/SSPDF extended their campaign to procure 16 sniper rifles for 160 lakh MMK until the end of September.

Ethnic Armed Organisations 

  • In the Kawthoolei Administration Area under the Karen National Union (KNU), there were a total of 6,356 battles from January 2021 to August 2022. According to KNU on Tuesday, 5,125 junta soldiers and members of the junta Border Guard Force (BGF) died. 
  • According to the Central Committee of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), James Lwam Daung, the former deputy officer of the foreign department, passed away in Bangkok, Thailand on Tuesday afternoon. 
  • In Paletwa Township in Chin State, a local CDF announced that there was no military tension between them and Arakan Army (AA). 
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there was fighting between a combined force of the KIA  with PDFs and the junta army in Hmawpone Village at about 5:30 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, mortars shells fired by junta soldiers fell into the village and exploded. 
  • In Namsam Township under the Ta’ang National Liberation Army, (TNLA) the administration inspected the shops in Lonekauk Village to check if they were selling junta army products. 

The Military Council 

  • In an interview with Russia-based RIA, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that ASEAN members were not allowed to go beyond the rule of law and existing laws of Myanmar in their negotiations about the country. 
  • According to Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, 3,500 companies were removed from the company registration list within eight months. 
  • The junta Ministry of Transportation and Communication announced that its staff will work at the office for two weeks and work from home for another two weeks, for a month starting from 12 September, due to the increase of COVID-19 infection among government employees in Nay Pyi Taw. 
  • According to junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce statistics, Myanmar-China border trade was worth 1.1 billion USD. 
  • The junta Ministry of Health stated that 80% of COVID-19 cases were amongst those who did not get vaccinated. 

Summary on 15 September 

  • The NUG warned people to get ready as they would raise the momentum of the revolution. Revolutionary forces managed to turn a defensive war into a revolutionary one. 
  • The junta army carried out attacks on schools and religious buildings all over the country. On the other hand, the military junta denied it. However, there is evidence of their actions that show their claims to be lies.
