The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Spring Lottery Family announced on Friday that (8721) staff members in the CDM had been financially supported up to 70% with their lottery sale until March.
  • Dr. Sasa, Minister of International Cooperation-NUG, made a Thingyan wish for freedom of Myanmar in the new year, a true federal democracy and enjoyment of all the rights which had been lost by the military junta.
  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights-NUG, said that he would like to apologize to those who felt upset about the slogan used in the meeting with Myanmar people in New York, USA and thanked people for all the feedback.
  • U Naing Htoo Aung, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Defense-NUG, said that C3C in military cooperation with ethnic armed organizations was gaining victory in battles using good strategies.
  • At the UN Headquarters in New York, the US Ambassador to the United Nations told the NUG delegation that they would maintain their support for Myanmar people.

Revolution Activities

  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, local people from the plain protested against the junta Thingyan on Friday.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on the third day of Thingyan.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East chanted slogans against the military dictatorship and the junta water festival.
  • As a 401-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Friday, holding signs - ‘We Are Wai Moe Naing’ in memory of Monywa protest leader who had been violently arrested last year.
  • In Ayadaw Township, a rally of the rural community marched against the junta Thingyan on Friday.
  • At 6:00 am Thursday, local PDF attacked the junta Pyusawti members in Myinsee Village in Shwebo Township. Reportedly, a captain and 2 Pyusawti members died, and 3 guns were confiscated.
  • On Thursday afternoon, an alliance of PDFs conducted bomb attacks via drones on 3 junta armed force positions, including the Khin-U Police Station. Reportedly, 9 police and Pyusawti members died.
  • In Kani Township, DPRA attacked a contingent of about 30 junta soldiers in Yelegyun Village at 7:30 am Thursday until they retreated from the area.
  • In Kalay Township, there was a heavy fighting between the junta army and a PDF in Pyidawtha Village and Nanchaung Village on Wednesday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died. As for the Kalay PDF, they lost 3 members and 6 others were injured.
  • On the third day of the water festival, Yangon people still protested against the junta Thingyan and did not join it.
  • On Friday, Yangon youth conducted an anti-junta movement, hanging a banner against the junta Thingyan on Pyi Road under Hledan Overpass.
  • On Friday, YGR youth hung an anti-junta banner on Baho Road near Hlaing Inspection Camp.
  • In Thanlyin Township, U Khin Zaw, allegedly a junta informer in Yenan Ward, was shot dead at 7:45 am Friday.
  • In Hlaing Thaya Township, there was a bomb explosion at the pandal near the administration office of Ward (10) at about 2:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, one person died and another one was injured.
  • In Alone Township, the military junta arrested a 4-year-old child. But, they did not disclose any information about him and thus, a focal person of Ghost Rangers said that they were very concerned about the child.
  • Octopus called for social punishment against artists who had performed at the junta Yangon Mayor Pandal on the second day of Thingyan.
  • In Mandalay, a combined rally of monks and people marched against the military dictatorship on Friday, chanting slogans against the junta water festival.
  • On Friday morning, Mandalay Ranger Force-PDF conducted a warning explosion at Zeus Bar for holding a DJ party amidst the silent strike of the public against the junta Thingyan.
  • In Patheingyi Township, there was a grenade attack on the convoy of Mandalay Computer University on their way to join the junta water festival on Thursday morning. Although there were no casualties, a car was damaged.
  • In Mandalay, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw led a night protest against the junta Thingyan on Thursday.
  • In Myingyan, 27 Revolution Force conducted an explosion with a remote mine on Central Pandal where the junta police, soldiers and Pyusawti members had been having fun.
  • In Pakkoku of Magwe Region, a rally of General Strike protested against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Gantgaw Township, a combined rally of villages, surrounded by local PDFs, marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kyauktu, the locally-based army fired mortars no less than 14 times near Mehle Hill and Hlawwa Village at 9:30 am Friday.
  • On Thursday afternoon, there was an attack on the junta security camp on Pakkoku Ring Road. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers might have died.
  • In Natmauk Township, local PDF shot dead Than Lwin, a junta-appointed Pyusawti leader, on Friday morning.
  • In Dike-U Township of Bago Region, there were exchanges of gunfire between a military officer and a second police sergeant at SP Office on Thursday night. Reportedly, the policeman died.
  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region, hundreds of people enjoyed the water festival at the pandal on Kannar Road on Friday morning. Reportedly, the local guerrilla force called on the public not to join the junta Thingyan.
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, local PDF conducted a bomb attack via drone on the junta armed forces taking security measures between the Police Station and the pandal at 8:30 am Friday.
  • In Yebyu Township, youth from Akani Village protested against the military dictatorship, calling for police and soldiers to join the CDM.
  • In Yebyu Township, youth conducted an indoors strike against the junta Thingyan on Friday morning.
  • In Longlone Township, a combined rally of basic education students, youth, women and LGBTs expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Friday, burning model heads of the junta leaders, Min Aung Hlaing and Zaw Min Tun.
  • In Pulaw Township, 2 unknown men shot dead Ko Aung Nay Zar Lin, Chair of Township USDP, at close range on Thursday evening.
  • In Hpakant of Kachin State, local people carried out a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship on Friday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Pindaya Township of Shan South, a MyTel telecom tower was blown up in Laytoegone Village at about 11:00 am Thursday.
  • According to PEN America, Myanmar is the third country worldwide with the most arrests of writers and poets after the military coup.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Karen State, there was a clash between KNLA and the junta army invading the hills under the control of the KNU Brigade (6) near Laykaykaw New Town at 10:50 pm Thursday. Reportedly, there were many casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, a combined force of KNDF and PDF attacked the junta army invading the area from 11 to 13 April. According to KNDF, they lost 4 members.
  • In Tamu Township of Sagaing Region, ABSDF attacked the junta Laymai army camp at 8:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died.
  • In honor of one-year anniversary of the Interim Chin National Consultative Council, they issued a statement claiming that they have a common goal to establish a Chin Union.

The Military Council

  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing watched the junta army families enjoying the water festival in Pyin Oo Lwin on Thursday evening.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the second junta leader Soe Win inspected the pandals of the junta armed forces in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
  • According to the junta newspaper, members of the military junta and union ministers went to the pandal of Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday afternoon and played with water there.
  • According to the junta newspaper, Daw Aye Nu Sein, a member of the military junta, went around the pandals in Sittway of Rakhine State on Thursday morning.
  • The junta Ministry of Health announced that the restriction for gathering would be cancelled starting from 17 April.
  • According to the junta communication, the military junta arrested 3 people who allegedly were involved in conducting explosions at 3 places including Yangon Zoo, together with weapons on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, one of them was shot dead during the operation to arrest the alleged culprits.
  • In Kyunghla Township and Tigyaint Township of Sagaing Region, an abbot and 2 temporary monks were shot dead on Wednesday, according to the junta media.

Summary on 15 April

  • Myanmar people continued to protest against the junta water festival. Until the third day, there were few people playing water at the junta pandals which were all silent.
  • With battlefields all over the country, the military junta had a great loss on a daily basis. There were constant bomb attacks and clearance activities to get rid of junta informers and Pyusawti members.
  • During Thingyan, armed revolution against the military junta was in great momentum and so were protests against the military dictatorship. The same might happen even after the festival.
