The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the weekly report to the public on Monday, the Second Secretary of Ministry of Defence- NUG said that ethnic and revolutionary leaders have been unitedly fighting for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • According to the Military Headquarters under Ministry of Defence- NUG on Monday, local PDFs conducted an attack via a variety mines on a troop of 30 junta soldiers, who invaded the village and opened fire, in Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region.
  • U Khun Myint Tun, the Chair of the Pa-O National Federal Council, stated that it is not possible to accept any political setting which would derail the Spring Revolution.
  • The Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG has reportedly continued to provide food to the war victims in Mandalay Region.
  • On Monday, there was a meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Mandalay Region.
  • On Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.
  • According to the focal person of the Mid-Regional PDF 1004, they attacked and took control of the junta’s Boma Thandaung Camp in Pyinmanar Township of Naypyi Taw Council Territory. Reportedly, 9 guns were confiscated and no less than 50 junta soldiers died in the battles within three days whereas 3 PDF members lost their lives.

Revolution Activities

  • In Butalin Township of Sagaing Region, the junta army set fire to Thakut Tane Exemplary Village on the evening of 12 August. Reportedly, many houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Monywa, there was a bomb attack via drone on the school near No. (2) Police Station at about 9:00 am Tuesday while the junta army officers were having a meeting there. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers got injured and the cars were damaged.
  • In Myinmu Township, there were mine attacks on a junta convoy carrying rations for two days on the Monywa-Mandalay Road.
  • At 11:00 am on 13 August, there was an attack on a junta fleet of 7 vessels in the Chindwin River near Minkin. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, ‘From the People to the People’ Group donated rice, oil and fish paste to the displaced people on Tuesday.
  • On Monday evening, there was an attack via sniper on a junta convoy carrying rations near Chaung-Oo. Reportedly, the oil van was on fire and another ration vehicle turned sideway.
  • In Kalay, there was a mine explosion near a trash bin in Tap-U Thidar Ward At about 8:00 am Monday. Reportedly, a local lost their life.
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta armed forces have been invading the area. Reportedly, they shot dead 3 people on 12 August.
  • In Ngazun Township of Mandalay Region, the junta army arrested and killed 5 displaced people at about 5:00 am on Monday. Reportedly, they have been invading the areas for 9 consecutive days and the public have had to run away.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there was a battle near Myephyu Village at 8:00 am Monday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died.
  • In Gantgaw Township, PDFs attacked 3 police stations on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, the junta army conducted a bomb attack via fighter jet.
  • In Pauk Township, the members of revolutionary forces and the public took part in the football competition for the People’s Administration Cup from 13 June to 15 August.
  • In Yebyu Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta army set fire to Akani Village on Monday afternoon. Reportedly, about 40 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • According to Institute for Strategies and Policies- Myanmar on Sunday, there were record-breaking aerial attacks in 40 townships, which had declared martial law in February 2023, from March to May.
  • On Monday, Blood Money recognized the decision of the United Overseas Bank (UOB) to cut off the banking relations with Myanmar so that the military junta cannot enter the global financial system.
  • Anti-Coup Committee (Korea) announced that they had supported 200,000MMK per house for the people whose property had been burnt by the junta army.
  • Ethnic Armed Organizations (EAOs)
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, the junta army fought hard to get back Latkattaung Camp, seized by Karen National Liberation Army and PDF, at 4:30 am Tuesday. Reportedly, the junta army constantly fired mortars and and launched bomb attacks from fighter jets.
  • According to Karen National Union Central on Tuesday, the junta army suffered great losses including captains in the battle to get back Latkattaung Tower Camp, controlled by the revolutionary forces.
  • In Thanglang of Chin State, the Chin National Army and the Chin Defence Force attacked the headquarters of the junta army regiment Ka-La-Ya 269 on Monday. According to the Chin National Front, they managed to gain control of a sub-security camp.
  • Somewhere on Thai-Myanmar border, the Karen Army raided a ration warehouse of the junta army on 13 August. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and weapons were confiscated.

The Military Council

  • On Monday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing stated at the BPI Factory that commonly used medicines are to be produced to meet the local demand as they have to imported every year.
  • The junta Central Bank revoked the foreign currency sale licences of 13 companies. So far, they have done it to 45 money exchangers.
  • The junta Union Election Commission (UEC) presented and demonstrated electronic voting machines to the junta ministries on Monday.
  • On Monday evening, the 3 junta ministers left for China to join the China-South Asia Trade Fair and related events.
  • According to the junta propaganda team, brokers are demanding a large sum of money from people applying for passports and thus, the public should be cautious about that.
  • The junta Embassy in Tokyo announced on Tuesday that over 900 Myanmar workers had been sent in August to work for Japanese companies.

  • Unable to control the high prices of dollars in the country, the military junta with less access to USD, has revoked the licenses of local currency exchange services.
  • In Kayin State and Chin State under the powerful control of the EAOs, the junta armed forces have been fighting hard. However, they have suffered great losses.
