The National Unity Government (NUG)

 

  • The 74th NUG meeting was conducted on Tuesday morning. There, the NUG Acting President stated that there had been some constructive outcomes for the NUG and Spring Revolution from the ASEAN Summit.
  • On 13 November, the NUG Acting President sent a statement to COP27: the United Nations Climate Change held in Sharm el-Sheikh in Egypt from 6 to 18 November.
  • Regarding the affirmative vote for a Moratorium on the use of the Death Penalty at the 77th General Assembly on 11 November, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN claimed that the military junta had been weaponizing local laws to engender a sense of fear in the public and to oppress the democracy movement.
  • In a report to the public, the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment stated that their NUG Pay has transferrd 4,500 million MMK.
  • The NUG Federal Council on Interim Nursing and Midwifery has been issuing licences to applicants.
  • In Tanintharyi Township in Tanintharyi Region, there were two battles between local PDFs and the junta armed forces on Monday. Reportedly, nine junta soldiers died.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Tuesday, the director Min Htin Ko Ko Gyi and the singer Saw Pho Kwar were released from Insein Prison.
  • In front of Thanlyin Township Court and District Court, an anti-junta person conducted a ‘Failed Law’ protest. Reportedly, the public and students did the same in Taunggyi and Yangon.
  • Even amidst tight security measures of the junta armed forces, Demon youth carried out a protest against the military dictatorship on Monday, hanging a banner that said ‘There will never be justice as long as the law is enslaved’.
  • At crowded places in Yangon, the Burmese Youth Network highlighted the ‘Failed Law’, calling on the public to protest against the junta’s election.
  • On their 614th day of protest, a combined rally from Salingyi and Yinmabin in Sagaing Region marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Khin-U Township, local PDFs conducted a mine attack on the junta army invading the area at about 7:00 am Tuesday. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers died.
  • In Indaw Township, there were battles between the junta army and a combined force of the KIA+KPDF on Sunday and Monday. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • Ayadaw Township PDF announced that Ayadaw-Monywa Road Section has been temporarily closed starting from Tuesday morning.
  • For security concerns, Kalay and Tamu PDFs announced that the public is not to use Kalay-Tamu Road during the week.
  • In Yinmabin Township, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members stationed in Bantbway Village suddenly raided Nabudaw Village at about 5:00 am on Tuesday and arrested four young people.
  • In Salingyi, there were attacks using mortars on the three junta posts in the town at 7:45 pm on Monday.
  • In Banmauk Township on Monday, the junta army dropped seven bombs from a fighter jet on Kangone Village, even though there was no fighting there.
  • In Kani Township, there was an attack using mortars on junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members stealing people’s crops in Alegyun Village at about 5:00 am on Monday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta armed forces have set fire to four local villages in the Pinttha area since 10 November. Reportedly, 128 houses were burnt down.
  • To uproot the military dictatorship, the Chair of Yaw PDF called for a spiritual revolution and a revolution in attitude, in addition to the armed revolution.
  • In Saw Township in Magwe Region, the junta army set fire to Latpan Village at 11:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, five local people, including a monk, were arrested.
  • In Pauk Township, the Anonymous Special Task Force attacked junta armed forces on patrol on their way out of Kukkosu Village on Monday morning. Reportedly, a junta soldier and three Pyu Saw Htee members died.
  • Mandalay Strike Leader Dr. Tayzar Sun took to the streets with the public on Monday and expressed objections to the military dictatorship.
  • In Madayar Township in Mandalay Region, Nga Kyuu, allegedly a junta informer in Phayamagone Village, was shot dead on Tuesday.
  • Even amidst tight security measures in Oatpho in Bago Region, local people took part in a ‘Failed Law’ Movement on Tuesday.
  • In Thayawaddy Township, Min Naing and Kyi Myint, junta-appointed village administrators, were shot at about 6:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, Min Naing died and Kyi Myint was seriously injured.
  • In Pathein District in Ayeyarwady Region, junta soldiers and police have been persecuting Grade (9) and Grade (10) students who are under 18 years old and from Basic Education Students’ Affairs.
  • In Kawthaung in Tanintharyi Region, a junta traffic policeman was shot dead in Badauk Shwe Wah Ward at 8:30 pm on Monday.
  • In Longlone Township, a large number of junta armed forces raided a monastery at about 3:00 am on Monday. Reportedly, five people, including two monks, were arrested.
  • In Pulaw Township, the junta army conducted a bomb attack using drones on Kade Village at 11:30 am on Monday. Reportedly, two civilians were injured and one of them was in critical condition.
  • In Mawlamyein in Mon State, there was gunfire in Zayar (3) Area at 5:30 pm on Monday. Reportedly, a junta policeman died and so did the son of a junta ward administrator. As for the Special Underground Movement Guerrillas, five of their comrades, including a woman, were arrested.
  • Tumi Lottery, a fund-raising activity for the revolution in Chin State, donated its income from Batch (6) to internally displaced people as humanitarian assistance.
  • All the tickets were sold out for the movie- ‘The Road Not Taken’ by Director Ko Pauk in North California in the United States.
  • The Malaysian Foreign Minister stated that Malaysia did not support the junta’s 2023 election.
  • On Monday, the Myanmar Special Advisory Team called on the ASEAN and the UN to put more pressure on the military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Magwe in Magwe Region, an alliance of PDFs fired three projectiles at the junta air force on Tuesday morning.
  • In KyaIn Seikgyi Township in Kayin State, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and KNLA+PDF near Lutshan Village starting from 5:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, the junta army used mortar fire and air strikes.
  • In Shwekyin and Kyaukgyi in Bago Region, an alliance of the KNLA attacked and took control of three junta army camps. Afterwards, the junta army strengthened its forces. Consequently, over 15,000 local people had to run away.
  • In Ponnagyun Township in Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) attacked the junta army at Kuntaung Train Station on Tuesday morning.
  • In Chin State, CDF – Hualngoram announced on Monday that Liando Hospital had been opened for local residents.
  • On Monday, the Peace Process Steering Team from ethnic armed organizations which have signed the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA), expressed their support for the statement by State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi that she would make public her political attitude only after she could meet with the CEC members of the NLD.

The Military Council

  • In the 2022 junta’s sports competition in Naypyidaw, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that promoting sports would protect the nation.
  • On Monday night, the military junta announced that the junta Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the junta Minister of Construction had been allowed to resign.
  • The military junta stated that the junta Minister of Cooperatives and Rural Development had been jointly assigned to be the junta Ministery of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation.
  • The military junta announced that U Myo Thant had been appointed as Union Minister of Construction.
  • The junta Health Minister claimed that a traditional medicine containing a bitter substance would be produced fto help combat5 the fever caused by COVID-19.
  • According to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, some companies and organizations have been blacklisted by ministries for failing to follow the relevant laws and directives.
  • On Monday night, the military junta announced that it had arrested two people whom it accused of detonating a bomb at Insein Prison on 19 October.
  • In Mingaladone Township in Yangon Region, the military junta has been systematically preparing to remove 1,410 households in Htautgyant Extended Ward (1), because it alleges that they are squatting.
  • In Buthidaung Township in Rakhine State, a policeman from the border guard force committed suicide using a grenade at 10:00 am on Monday.

Summary on 16 November

  • Judging by the arrival of ethnic revolutionary forces in upcountry areas and Eastern Bago, the defensive war against the military junta might be gradually extending.
  • In Rakhine State, there have been heavy battles between the junta armed forces and the AA. As the AA claimed that they would take revenge on the junta army for killing a large number of civilians, there might be heavier fighting in the area.
  • In upcountry areas, the junta armed forces have been burning local villages on a daily basis. Consequently, thousands of local people have had to run away. Reportedly, they have been badly in need of assistance.
