The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Friday, Acting President of the NUG expressed thanks to the United States House of Representatives for their adoption of the National Defence Authorization Act-NDAA containing the Burma Act.
  • On Thursday, the meeting of the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration was conducted. There, Chair of the Committee and Union Prime Minister Man Win Khine Than called for the best effort considering that the revolution was a golden opportunity for drastic change in the future.
  • Via social media, Minister of Human Rights-NUG shared information that the US House of Representatives had adopted the NDAA.
  • On Friday, Ministry of Human Rights-NUG released a statement against the forced repatriation of Rohingya people floating in the sea to the military junta in Myanmar.
  • In an interview with Spanish Newspaper EL ESPAÑOL, Dr. Sasa, Union Minister of International Cooperation- NUG, stated that the military junta in Myanmar had been turning the country into an entity like North Korea.
  • On Thursday, there was an online presentation on the activities of Committee Representing Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) to the members in Kayin State, Shan State, Yangon Region and Ayeyarwaddy Region.

Revolution Activities

  • The United States House of Representatives adopted National Defence Authorization Act- NDAA containing the points to support the NUG, NUCC and CRPH, provide technical support to PDFs and EAOs, and block the financial resources of the junta army like the MOGE. It is awaiting the signature of the US President Joe Biden.
  • In an interview with the Irrawaddy, Dr. Tun Myint, Professor of Political Science Department at Carleton College, remarked that the NDAA containing the Burma Act was the final warning to the military junta.
  • Special Advisory Committee on Myanmar released a report that the International Criminal Court-ICC should take immediate action to put an end to the freedom from punishment of the military junta for their crimes.
  • The UK-based Myanmar Accountability Project-MAP welcomed the United Nations for accepting the NUG and Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun for the representation of Myanmar in the UN conferences, and rejecting the representation of the military junta.
  • In Japan, there was a protest against the junta’s death sentence on the seven students of Dagon University on Thursday.
  • In Pyinmanar of Nay Pyi Taw, two bombs exploded near Nan Sein Bakery at about 6:00 pm Thursday.
  • In Insein Township of Yangon Region, Urban Guerrillas fired 107mm grenades into the junta army base near BPI Medicine Factory at 8:30 pm Thursday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties in the incident as ambulances went into the compound.
  • On Friday, a rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin North of Sagaing Region, there was a rally of villages against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Pale Township, Myanmar’s Royal Dragon Army attacked the junta Pyusawti camp in Zeephyugone Village at about 5:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 15 Pyusawti members died.
  • In recent days, the junta armed forces, which had burnt local villages in Htigyaint Township, entered Indaw Township. Reportedly, they set fire to Jonegya Village on Friday afternoon.
  • In Taungdwin Chaung Area of Min Kin Township, the Golden Triangle Force-GTF attacked Kyaw Village of Pyusawti members five times within a week. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta members.
  • In the north of Kalay Township, the junta army burnt Nanchaung Village and stationed there for two days. Reportedly, there were exchanges of fire between them and the Hyenas Survey Corps (HSC).
  • On the border of Kantbalu Township and Kawlin Township, the junta armed forces set fire to local villages one after another on Thursday afternoon. Reportedly, they were attacked with mines.
  • For weapons, Ranger Kalay Defence Force has been conducting a fund-raising lucky draw.
  • In Indaw Township, more junta soldiers invaded the area. On Thursday, Indaw Revolution called on the public to prevent a great loss.
  • For the procurement of weapons and other necessary items, Monywa District PDF Battalion called for the participation with raffle tickets.
  • In Tamu, some members of the CDM Support Team were arrested. Reportedly, the junta armed forces have been after the remaining members.
  • In Yesagyo Township of Magwe Region, there was a battle between the junta army and PDF on Thursday morning. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and 7 others were injured.
  • In Mindone Township, local PDFs shot at an alleged junta informer on Thursday.
  • In Htilin Township, there was a clash between the junta army and PDF near Nyaung Haung Village on Wednesday. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township of Mandalay Region, there was a grenade attack at the modern police station at about 4:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, two members of the junta police might have died.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, youth conducted an anti-junta movement on Friday morning.
  • As a part of Nan Htike Aung Operation, a combined force of Taungoo District PDF shot at Zaw Khin, the junta administrator of Zeebintha Village.
  • In Myawaddy Township of Kayin State, there was a bomb explosion at the sub-station in Thingan Nyinaung on Thursday night. Reportedly, 3 transformers were damaged.
  • In Kawkarait Township, a bridge was blown up near Kaw Nwet Village on Asia Road on Friday morning. Consequently, the cars could no longer proceed with their journey.
  • In Yay Township of Mon State, local PDF attacked the junta army of heavy artillery at about 9:30 am Friday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Aung Pan of Shan South, the junta army arrested 12 young people, accusing them of being associated with PDFs.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kawkarait Township of Kayin State, a combined force of KNLA and PDFs attacked the junta army camps on Friday morning. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers, including officers, died.
  • In Phapun District under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5), there were 5 battles between the KNU and the junta army on Tuesday. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and a military officer was injured.
  • In the battles between the junta army and Ta’ang National Liberation Army-TNLA from 7 to 12 December, 15 junta soldiers died and 2 others were captured.
  • In Namsam Township with the battles between the junta army and TNLA, some local people returned home.
  • In Dimawso Township of Karenni State, there were 3 clashes between Karenni National Defence Force-KNDF B09 and the junta army invading the area on Thursday. Reportedly, there were casualties among 30 junta soldiers.

The Military Council

  • On the 75th anniversary of the air force, the junta leader showed off the aircrafts procured from Russia and China.
  • On Thursday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing claimed that Myanmar’s Army would be able to carry out a four dimension military operation on the land, in the air, in the water and under the water.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the junta Foreign Minister and the Director of Bangkok-based UNDP for further cooperation.
  • According to the junta Department of Archaeology and national Museum, they would repair the religious and ancient buildings which had been hit by the earthquakes in Mandalay and Sagaing.
  • From 21 December 2022 to 2 January 2023, there would be daily trains between Yangon and Mandalay on a daily basis.
  • According to the junta Myanmar Pearl Department, the production of pearls would exceed the expectation for the 2022-23 fiscal year.
  • U Bo Bo Nge, the former Vice-Chair of the Central Bank of Myanmar in the administration of the NLD Government, was sentenced to 20 years in prison at the junta court in Mandalay Obo Prison.

Summary on 16 December

  • Without recognition to the military junta, the international community put more pressure on them. The US House of Representatives adopted the NDAA containing the Burma Act. Consequently, it would pose more pressure on the military dictators.
