The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Defence called for people to act as lookouts to warn of approaching airstrikes.
  • In the NUG Southern Military Region of the NUG, Red Dragon Column was supplied with arms on Tuesday.
  • In the Southern Military Region, there was an event on the completion of the refreshers’ course by the Taungnyo Column on Wednesday.
  • In New York, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the UN U Kyaw Moe Tun met with the students from Columbia University on Wednesday and talked to them about Myanmar’s affairs.
  • At 1:00 pm on Wednesday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on Interim Public Administration and Township People’s Administrative Teams from Yangon, Mandalay and Magwe regions.
  • On Tuesday, there was a meeting between the (NUG) Union Minister of Foreign Affairs and the US Deputy Foreign Minister who reportedly expressed US support for all the Myanmar people’s democratic movements.
  • In the Southern Military Region of the NUG, there was an event on the completion of PDF Training Batch 11 on basic battlefield medical care by Ziwaka Medical Column.

Revolutionary Activities

  • Yangon-based US Embassy officially announced that the United States will provide $50 million USD more to the Myanmar people for humanitarian assistance.
  • According to CDM Captain Linn Htet Aung, there are just over 50 soldiers in each battalion on the frontline in the junta’s South East Military Region that covers Kayin and Mon states.
  • Justice for Myanmar called on Rihanna, the singer who wore a Myanmar ruby ring worth $1 million USD at her Super Bowl performance, to stand with Myanmar people and support sanctions against Myanmar’s gems.
  • In Sagaing Region, the Taze Township General Strike marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Yinmabin North, local people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Kani Township, there were educational fun fairs and anti-junta talks at public schools.
  • At about 8:00 pm on Wednesday, a combined force of Monywa District PDFs conducted a surprise attack on the junta army at the entrance to the town. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Kani, junta soldiers fired between themselves at about 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Consequently, soldier Aung Toe Chit died and an armed soldier is at large.
  • In Ayadaw Township, there was a heavy artillery attack on No. (10) Training Army on Tuesday. Reportedly, six junta soldiers, including officers, died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, the junta army set fire to people’s houses in Bantbway Village at about 11:00 am on Wednesday.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army set fire to Latpanhla Village on Monday. Reportedly, they also burnt a nun to death.
  • In Mandalay Region, a rally of Pyigyi Dagun protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Thabaitgyin Township, there was a mine attack on a 12-wheel truck carrying junta soldiers on Wednesday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties.
  • In Yetashay Township in Bago Region, a child aged 4 died and 4 civilians were injured due to junta army gunfire at about 5:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, a large number of junta troops raided Kade Village at about 7:00 pm on Wednesday. After exchanges of fire, the PDF had to cede territory.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • Starting for the tenth time, the Thoo Lei Lottery, a project of the Karen National Union (KNU), changed the amount it is offering as prize money.
  • In Shan North, there was fighting for five consecutive days as junta armed forces have invaded the area where a Kachin Independence Army (KIA) camp is located.
  • In Nyaunglaybin District under the KNU, local people have had to run away because of the junta armed forces. Reportedly, two local villages were burnt down by a runaway forest fire.

The Military Council

  • In Tadgone Township in Naypyitaw, there was a celebration on the 77th anniversary of the junta propaganda media Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV). Reportedly, present on the occasion was the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • On Wednesday, there was a meeting between the junta Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar to promote cooperation in various sectors such as tourism, trade and investment.
  • The junta propaganda media announced that an armed group had conducted a mine attack on a car of students on their way back after taking an exam in Ayardaw Township in Sagaing Region on Wednesday. The attack killed a student and injured 10 others.
  • After their third meeting in Naypyitaw on Wednesday, the junta peace team and New Mon State Party signed some agreements.
  • According to the junta Department of Examinations, registration cards for the matriculation exam (2023-24 academic year) will be issued from 20 February.
  • According to the junta’s Yangon Municipal Department, the whole New Mingalar Market project will have to be completed by the end of 2023.
