The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Tuesday morning, the NUG Commission on Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Response conducted its second meeting to carry out rescue activities in storm-hit areas.
  • According to the NUG, 18 people lost their lives due to the Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine, Shan, Mandalay, Ayeyarwady, Sagaing, Magwe and Yangon.
  • The Ministry of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Risks Management- NUG announced on Monday that over 31,000 acres of plantation were destroyed by the flood of the Cyclone Mocha on Sunday.
  • On Tuesday afternoon, the Minister of Human Rights- NUG met with government ministers and the MPs at the Parliament Building in New Zealand. Reportedly, they discussed Myanmar’s affairs.
  • At 10:00 am Monday, there was a meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration- NUG and Township People’s Administration Teams from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region, Bago Region, Taninthayi Region, Ayeyarwady Region, Mandalay Region and Yangon Region.
  • At 3:00 pm Monday, there was a meeting between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration- NUG and Township People’s Administration from Sagaing Region.
  • According to the leader of Pale Township People’s Administration, they, in cooperation with local PDFs, have been watching the strength of local dams due to the constant rainfall of the Cyclone Mocha.
  • On Tuesday, Magwe District PDF Regiment (2) announced that the junta administrators and departmental staff in Yenangyaung Township are to resign.
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, the camp of Local PDF Regiment (29) was damaged by Cyclone Mocha. Reportedly, they have been in need of rations.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Sagaing Region, a rally of Yinmabin North marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday morning.
  • In Monywa, a Local Youth Association conducted an anti-junta movement on Tuesday.
  • In Kani Township, local people warmly welcomed the PDFs on their way back after fighting the junta army on Monday night.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army raided Twingone Village at about 12:00 pm on 13 May and took away people’s belongings.
  • In the battles near Minma Village of Kani Township on Sunday and Monday, 8 junta soldiers including a captain died.
  • In Kani Township, the junta army raided the backline camp of a local PDF and took away things worth 40,000,000 MMK.
  • In Khin-U Township, the junta army burnt over 200 houses on the western bank of the Ayeyarwady River from 7 to 12 May.
  • In Sanchaung Township in Yangon Region, hand-made bombs in bags were found and removed in Linluntaung Ward on Monday evening.
  • In Tilin Township in Magwe Region, the whole camp of over 600 IDPs floated away due to Cyclone Mocha.
  • In Sintkai Township of Mandalay Region, Dr. Tin Cho Cho, who had put pressure on non-CDM health staff, was shot dead at about 5:00 pm on Monday.
  • In Myingyan Township, there was an attack on the junta army stationied in Nechar Village on Saturday morning. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers and Pyusawti members died.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, there was an attack on the junta army stationing at Oattu Bridge near MeneO Village at about 9:00 pm on 9 May. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.
  • In Paungty Township of Bago Region, there was an attack on a junta troop on patrol at about 8:00 pm on 12 May. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers were seriously injured.
  • In Thayarwady Prison of Bago Region, transferred political prisoners were beaten on their arrival.
  • In Ayeyarwady Region, Kyankhine Township Strike Committee protested against the military dictatorship on Tuesday, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Mon State, there was an attack using projectiles at the combined office of Thatone Township at about 1:00 pm Monday. Reportedly, no one was injured in the incident.
  • According to the CTPDF, over 50 mines were destroyed by Cyclone Mocha. They called on the public to contribute to further procurements.
  • The S&C successfully completed their solar power station project. They will initially supply power to 100 houses of IDPs and victims of natural disasters.
  • In South Korea, young people organized a football match along with a sale to raise funds for the Spring Revolution. They will donate the funds for the education of displaced children in the upcountry area of Myanmar.
  • In cooperation with Myanmar workers in Malaysia, the NLD (OC) expressed its desire for the immediate release of the political prisoners including President U Win Myint and State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • In Kuala Lumpur of Malaysia, Myanmar people led an anti-junta protest on Tuesday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • Major General Twan Mrat Naing of the Arakan Army (AA) called on the international community to provide emergency assistance to the victims of destructive Cyclone Mocha.
  • On 27 April, a video went viral on social media, containing the scene in which a member of the KNDF was exposing a battle prisoner to electric shocks. On Monday, Karenni National Defence Force announced that they had taken action against that member together with the ones who were making fun of the victim.
  • The KNDF announced that the public are not to use Bawlake-Ywathit Road as there might be fighting between their combined force and the junta army anytime. They also called for contributions to their needs.
  • In Bawlake of Karenni State, there was an attack on junta troops on the evening of 9 May. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died and a gun was confiscated.
  • In Myawady Township of Kayin State, there was an attack on the junta army in Kyaukmai Area on Sunday. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers died and 12 others got injured.
  • In Mone Township under the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (3), the junta army arrested 3 women and 4 men from Ye Oh Cin Village on the night of 10 May. Reportedly, they have been out of contact so far.
  • In Kawkarait Township, the junta armed forces have been destroying local roads. Consequently, the public has faced difficulty in transportation and daily basic needs.
  • The CDF Asho announced that their headquarters and the quarters of their members had been damaged by heavy rain and strong wind of Cyclone Mocha.

The Military Council

  • In Sittway of Rakhine State, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing gave 70,000 lakh MMK and other items for the rescue and rehabilitation of the victims of Cyclone Mocha.
  • On Tuesday morning, the junta leader was in Bagan and he was inspecting pagodas. Consequently, there were tight security measures.
  • The junta propaganda team announced that 3 members of the security forces lost their lives while carrying out rescue activities for the storm victims in Sittway.
  • For the victims of the Cyclone Mocha in Rakhine State, Thidagu Sayardaw donated 1000 lakh MMK to the junta Yangon Regional Chief Minister and regional military chief.
  • The military junta announced that the junta navy had sent the relief items for the storm victims in Rakhine State.
  • The junta Department of Archaeology announced that some pagodas in Bagan got damaged by the heavy rain of Cyclone Mocha.
