The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a national speech on Saturday, the NUG Acting President said that there was no way to go back to the 2008 Constitution and they had been making an effort to build unity with remaining ethnic organizations.
  • The Acting President also said that PDFs and their alliance of ethnic armed organizations (EAOs) had been able to control most rural areas and there would soon be liberated regions.
  • The Acting President conveyed a message to the international community that supporting the military junta was against the desire of the Myanmar people.
  • On Saturday, the NUG announced that U Kyaw Zaw had been appointed as spokesperson of the NUG President’s Office.
  • In the report on their activities, the NUG Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the public to maintain cooperation, support and determination for the victory of the revolution.
  • On the one-year anniversary of the NUG, the Chair of the Pa-O National Federal Council-PNFC called on all people, including the NUG, to join hands until the revolution succeeds in putting an end to all forms of dictatorship and building a federal union.

Revolution Activities

  • In Monywa in Sagaing Region, local PDFs attacked No. (2) Police Station at 1:30 am on Saturday. Reportedly, 12 members of the junta police died.
  • In Monywa, there was a grenade attack on the junta inspection gate at the Tamartan Crossroad Traffic Lights on Friday. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • In Yinmabin Township, local PDFs conducted a bomb attack using a drone on the building, where the junta army and Pyu Saw Htee were stationed in Bantbwe Village, at 10:00 am on Saturday. Reportedly, there might be casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Wetlet Township, a local guerrilla force led an attack on the junta waterway police camp near Indaung Village at 8:30 pm on Friday. Reportedly, two police members died, three others were caught alive and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Myaung Township, a combined force of PDFs conducted a grenade attack on a local police station at 5:20 pm on Friday while a birthday party was being held for the second police officer Sithu Lwin.
  • In a village in Pale Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship and the junta Thingyan on Saturday morning.
  • In a village in Shwebo Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Yinmabin District, LGBT people led the 402nd day of protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Tamu, on Friday afternoon local PDFs attacked a group of Pyu Saw Htee members committing robbery under false pretences against PDFs. Reportedly, two Pyu Saw Htee members died and one other ran away.
  • In Kyunghla Township, the junta army set fire to Waibula Village for the second time at about 5:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, half of the village was burnt down.
  • In Myaung Township, a local PDF arrested three illegal drug dealers and users on Thursday.
  • In North Okkalapa Township in Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion in Ka Ward at 8:35 am Saturday.
  • In Tontay Township, a local PDF conducted an explosion at the military security office at about 7:45 pm Friday.
  • In Bahan Township, Dark Shadow caused an explosion on military housing and a bunker on Saturday morning.
  • In Bahan Township, there was a grenade attack on junta soldiers on their way to entertain at the junta Yangon Mayor’s Pandal (Thingyan stage) on Saturday morning. Reportedly, there were casualties among them.
  • In Dala Township, there were exchanges of fire between junta soldiers and police members at the Central Pandal on Friday evening. Reportedly, the pandal had to be disassembled.
  • In Kawhmu Township, Southern PDF conducted a guerrilla attack on a military convoy at about 5:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and many others were injured.
  • In South Dagon Township, unknown people fired nine gunshots at Nyein Chan Aung, allegedly a junta informer, in Ward 71 on Friday night.
  • In Natogyi Township in Mandalay Region, a local PDF fired a mortar at the junta army providing security at a sub-power station in Pyinsi Village at 8:00 pm Friday.
  • In Pauk Township in Magwe Region, the junta army shot a 60 mm grenade into the hut of IDPs from Tansu Village on the evening of 12 April. Reportedly, nine IDPs died.
  • In Tilin Township, a local guerrilla force conducted a surprise attack on the police station in Saymintaw Village at 6:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, two members of the junta police died and three others were injured.
  • On Saturday, PDF-Gangaw Battalion (YAW REGION) published a video of the group testing weapons they made themselves including, 60mm grenades, which have been made safe for the people operating them and guns.
  • In Pathein in Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was a bomb explosion in front of the floating market on Kanna Road at about 1:00 pm Saturday.
  • In Phyapone Township, there were two bomb explosions near the junta municipal office and Central Pandal on Saturday morning. Reportedly, there were many casualties. According to local PDFs, they carried out the attack.
  • In Kyaunggone Township, there was a bomb explosion in front of the junta pandal at about 6:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, many people were injured.
  • In Maubin, there was a bomb explosion near the junta Central Pandal in Ward 5 at 3:30 pm Friday.
  • In Hinthada Township, local PDF blew up a MyTel telecom tower near Pyidawgone Village at 8:30 pm Friday.
  • In Paungti Township in Bago Region, a combined force of PDFs attacked the junta army in Lebin Village at 3:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, a combined rally of women, basic education students, LGBT people and youths conducted a rosy movement against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Pulaw Township, the junta army arrested three men in Kade Village on Thursday and killed one of them.
  • In Kyaikmayaw Township in Mon State, an armed group attacked the camp of the Border Guard Force (BGF) at Chaunghnakwa Bridge on Saturday morning. Reportedly, five BGF members died.
  • In Ywangan Township in Shan South, junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members set fire to the house of U Htay Aung in Peyintaung Village at 2:30 am on Saturday.
  • In Ywangan Township, there was heavy fighting between the junta army and a local PDF in the south of Taung-Oo Village on Friday. Reportedly, two PDF members died and another one was injured.
  • In Kalaw Township, there was a bomb explosion at Inkaung Dam on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, a combined rally of gem workers marched for a union of federal democracy and against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Myitkyina, there was gunfire at the walking Thingyan at 5:00 pm Friday.
  • In Myitkyina, there was a bomb explosion at the junta state immigration office at 9:30 pm Friday.
  • In Kyain Seikkyi Township in Karen State, there was a mine explosion at the pandal in Kyonekawun Village on Friday morning. Reportedly, there were no casualties.
  • In Demoso Township in Karenni State, the DMO Local PDF announced the kinds of crimes for there would be legal action on Saturday.
  • In South Korea, Degu Sayardaw led a protest against the military dictatorship in Myanmar on Saturday morning.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Lay Kay Kaw Area under the control of KNU Brigade (6), the junta army suffered great losses in battles up to Friday morning and a lot of weapons were confiscated.
  • In the Wawlaymyaing Area under KNU Brigade (6), a large number of the junta armed forces invaded the area starting from the 2nd week of April. Consequently, there were heavy battles between them and a combined force of the KNLA, KNDO and PDF. As for the IDPs, they are badly in need of food and medicine.
  • According to Thai media, there was a free meeting among the Thai Border Guard Force, Myanmar junta army and the KNLA for sustainable friendship between Thailand and Myanmar on the Friday morning of the New Year (15/04/2022).

The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and his wife went again to the pandals of the junta armed forces in Pyin Oo Lwin on Saturday.
  • On Friday, the second junta leader Soe Win went to the pandals in Nay Pyi Taw.
  • The junta newspaper stated that crowds of people enjoyed the 3rd day of the water festival throughout the country on Friday.
  • Reportedly, the cars enjoying the water festival in front of the junta Yangon Mayor Pandal were the ones licensed to the municipal department.
  • On a social media, a letter from a dead soldier to his family went viral. In the letter, he told his family not to hate PDFs upon his death and that he had been fighting hard since the beginning of the military operation.

Summary on 18 April

  • In most parts of the country, Myanmar people protested against the junta Thingyan water festival and they managed to transform it into a Revolutionary Thingyan. On the last day of the festival, just a few pro-military people played water at the junta pandals.
  • On the other hand, the military junta became more active in Sagaing and Magwe regions, and Karen, Karenni and Kachin states with powerful anti-junta movements. They also set fire to villages. Consequently, there were heavy battles between them and local PDFs.
  • The NUG Acting President said that PDFs and their partner ethnic armed organizations control most of the rural areas and there will soon be liberated regions. It was such a good piece of news for the public. It could also be regarded as a success for the PDFs.
