NUG

  • The NUG announced that 146 staff from the Union Election Commission who were mainly in charge of the general election had been blacklisted and dismissed because they performed duties under the military junta, which is against the Union Election Commission Law and Election Laws.
  • The NUG Ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management stated that it promises to implement 7 factors to protect disabled people’s rights during the interim of the revolution.

Revolution Activities

  1. The film “Myanmar Diaries” about the fight against the military junta in Myanmar won one of the world’s highest prizes, the ‘Berlinale Documentary Award’ at the Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin, Germany, according to a statement from the film festival.
  2. Ko Kaung Chan Myae Shan, a second-year student from the University of Medicine, in Taunggyi was forcibly abducted with his family from their home in Mahlaing, Mandalay region on the evening of February 14 by the military junta.
  3. There was intense fighting between junta troops who launched an offensive with many soldiers and several armored cars against the Karenni allied groups and the PDF near to Warisupalai village in Moebye on the border between Shan and Karenni states. Two armored cars were destroyed and there were several casualties among the soldiers. Myanmar junta jets also bombed local PDFs.
  4. In Naungwine quarter in Moebye, a camp where the junta soldiers were stationed was attacked by Karenni allied forces early in the morning of 17 February. Some junta soldiers were killed and one Phae Khon PDF member was injured.
  5. At the Shwe Pyi Thar 14 crossroads in Yangon, the junta fired 30 shots, carried out a raid and arrested three civilians, according to locals.
  6. On February 17, at Lapadaungtaung, the committee of Yinmarpin-Salingyi multi-villages rally, the leaders of the people’s strike in Yangon, and the Depayin leaders of the people’s strike went on strike against the military junta.
  7. On February 16, Kalama and Latkaukya villages in Kyaukmyaung Township, Shwebo District, Sagaing Region were raided by army soldiers. Almost all of the villagers fled as the soldiers arrested and tortured locals.
  8. In Yaykyipin village, Yinmarpin, there was a rally of people going on strike against the military junta.
  9. Locals led by Pyi Gyi Ta Gon Sayardaw went on a night strike against the junta on February 17.
  10. Buddhist monks from the rally of the Sangha Union chanted and recited a Myitta, protesting against the junta.
  11. In Phatmar village in Putao Township, Kachin region, a couple was shot dead by SAC soldiers as they were fleeing from fighting on February 15.
  12. 250 junta soldiers with 16 cars who were launching an offensive in Longshay village in Saw Township, Magway were attacked with 3 mines by the Saw PDF. Three soldiers including an officer were killed and another six were injured.

EAOs

  • In Phalu, KNU No. (6) Region, there have been intense clashes between junta soldiers and the allied forces of the KNLA and PDF. The SAC carried off the dead bodies and the injured in three cars. The KNLA allied group collected some weapons.
  • In east Longyi, Mupan District, northern Shan State Special Region No (1), there was an intense battle between SAC soldiers and the MNDAA on February 13. Eight soldiers died, according to The Ko Kang Media.

Military Junta

  • The junta will allow private businessmen to tender for 11 industries in the National Races Village, Tharkayta. Tenders will be selected on March 1.
  • Aung Naing Oo, the SAC’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations met and had discussions with the Chairman of South Asia Future Investment Group located in China, according to junta-controlled media.
  • Min Aung Hlaing said that commanders need to watch and control each soldier to make sure they have a high standard of living and lifestyle as they need to have their basic needs and healthcare looked after to some extent.
  • The SAC’s deputy commander-in-chief, Soe Win said that Myanmar is trying to keep abreast with other countries and cooperating with the UN Sustainable Development Goal 14, “Life Under Water” by sustainably developing costal and marine regions.
  • Min Aung Hlaing said that he does not support the activities of being armed relating political and national situations when he met with SAC staff and locals in Maingyaung and Maingkhat township, east Shan State.
