The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a government meeting on Tuesday, the NUG Acting President stated that it should hold the policy on fighting against the military dictatorship in their right hand while holding the policy of protecting the lives and property of the public in their left hand.
  • On Tuesday, the NUG Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement calling on countries neighboring Myanmar not to let the military junta into their airspace to conduct terrible air strikes.
  • On Monday, there was a meeting between the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, and the township public administrations of Sagaing Region, Magwe Region, Bago Region, Tanintharyi Region and Ayeyarwady Region. There, the NUG Union Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration stated that 2023 was an important year and so, it is necessary that all forces make an effort, join hands and carry out activities.
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration, the local public administration and local defence forces met and held discussions with the community of a village in Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region.
  • In Ayadaw Township in Sagaing Region, local public administration and local defence forces confiscated products produced by junta affiliated companies from a car whilst carrying out security inspections on Monday. Reportedly, they set fire to the products.
  • In Sagaing Region, Yinmabin Township PDF announced on Sunday that local defence forces will follow international humanitarian laws and behave properly.
  • On Sunday, Tanintharyi Township Public Administration announced that the junta army products produced by the junta and their affiliates must not be sold or bought.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Tel Aviv in Israel, Myanmar people protested against the junta’s planned elections in front of the Myanmar Embassy on Monday.
  • According to an Urban Guerrilla source, junta personnel have been pretending to be guerrillas to entrap and arrest members of underground forces in Yangon.
  • In Nyaung-U Township in Mandalay Region, the junta army raided the house belonging to the Chair of the Township National League for Democracy (NLD). They then arrested the Chair, his son and two other people living there.
  • In the southeast of Natoegyi, two junta policemen were shot dead at about 9:00 am on 14 January while demanding money. According to a local PDF, some weapons were confiscated.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of the Mandalay Aungmye Thazan Township Students’ Union and the Yangon University Students’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, sharing Oh-Wai stickers.
  • In Ngazun Township, the junta army set fire to Japanagyun Village at about 4:00 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, over 50 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In Sagaing Region, a combined rally from Salingyi, Yinmabin and Shwe Nwe Thwe marched against the junta’s fake election on Tuesday.
  • In Khin-U Township, local people marched for the NUG and against the junta’s illegitimate election.
  • In Salingyi Township, there was a clash between the junta army and an alliance of local PDFs near Hsatone Village at about 11:00 am Monday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a combined force of local PDFs conducted a mine attack on junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members near Mount Lay Nyin at about 9:00 am on Monday.
  • In Kani Township, a local PDF donated the rice bags, confiscated from a junta army vessel, to the public on 12 January.
  • In Wetlet Area, the Burmese Students’ Union formed a basic education students’ union on Tuesday.
  • In Kantbalu Township, the junta army set fire to Nyaunggone Village on 14 January. Reportedly, they also burnt two local men to death.
  • In Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region, PDFs burnt Thajettaw Village Police Station at about 11:00 pm on Monday.
  • In Pulaw Township, there was a battle between the junta army aided by Pyu Saw Htee members and PDFs in Shatpone Village until 4:00 pm on Monday. Reportedly, four junta members died and a gun was confiscated.
  • In Paungty Township in Bago Region, the junta army was attacked with mines by local PDFs near Yoat Hsai Village at 9:00 am Monday. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died and three others were seriously injured.
  • In Mobye Township, the junta army deliberately shot mortars at places where the IDPs were staying. According to MB-PDF on Tuesday, a displaced person lost their life and two others were seriously injured.
  • According to the sources, the military junta sent President U Win Myint to Taungoo Prison and tightened security measures there.
  • On Monday, the SIF released a statement calling on ethnic armed forces, political parties and the public to reject the junta’s fake election.
  • Based in Yangon Region, Cats Association has conducted a give-and-take raffle project to raise funds for weapons and drones for the revolution forces in Sagaing Region and Magwe Region.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, there were battles against the junta armed forces invading the area. According to CDF Matupi on Monday, they lost a member as well as weapons and daily items.
  • In Fruso in Karenni State, snipers attacked the junta army. According to KNDF Regiment (4) on Monday, two junta soldiers died.

The Military Council

  • In a special meeting on Monday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that he found out that there was insufficient rice in the Naga Self-administered Region.
  • On Monday, the Chair of the junta Central Bank said that it was necessary for money changers to join the have to undertake training on following the provisions contained in the law against anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism law.
  • According to the junta’s Immigration and Population department, they issued more than 10,000 National Registration Cards (NRCs) to the people in the Wa Special Area and Laukkai in the Kokang Self-administred Region on Sunday and Monday.
  • The permanent Secretary of the junta Ministry of Labour said that legal action will be taken against garment businesses without bank accounts.
