The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In the Townhall Meeting with the public on Sunday, NUG Union Prime Minister said that it was the best time to knock down the faltering military junta.
  • In a Global Meeting with the Myanmar people on Sunday morning, the NUG Minister of Defence said that the junta army led by Min Aung Hlaing had become a more cruel and criminal as their sunset was getting nearer. He also said that they had been implementing a collective strategy to uproot the military junta.
  • The NUG Minister of Defence said that they had been carrying out inclusive and collective strategies and projects to fight against all the junta armed forces.
  • On the International Day of Justice, the NUG Minister of Human Rights said that they would continue in their efforts to take legal action against the unjust war crimes committed by the junta army as soon as possible.
  • The NUG Ministry of Education announced on Sunday that they would provide assistance to students and teachers who had to face difficulties and arrests due to the data leak from Kaung for You Education. They also stated that there would soon be a hotline where the public could report incidents of blackmail that need to be prosecuted.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Tamu in Sagaing Region, there was fighting between the junta army and a local PDF on the bypass at about 6:00 am on Saturday. Reportedly, a PDF member lost their life and three civilians were shot dead.
  • At the entrance to Dibeyin, local PDFs conducted a bomb attack using a drone on the junta army stationed at Kyungbin Gate at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Reportedly, seven junta soldiers were seriously injured.
  • In the west of Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of farmers and villagers protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • On their 493rd day of protest, a combined rally of villagers from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Myaung Township, the junta army fired mortars in an area where there was no fighting and hit and killed a 20-year-old woman.
  • In Yangon, a combined rally of youth and students marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday, chanting the slogan: ‘Uproot the junta army with the spirit of martyrs’.
  • In Shwepyitha Township, Win Naing and Tun Min, hundred-household leaders and allegedly Pyu Saw Htee members in Ward (15), were shot dead at a tea shop on Sunday morning.
  • In Dala Township, there was an explosion on a trishaw in Kamakasit Ward on Saturday evening. Reportedly, a man died and another one was injured.
  • At about 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, a convoy of three military trucks was attacked with mines by Natoegyi PDF on the Yangon to Mandalay Highway. Reportedly, more than four junta soldiers died.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township in Mandalay Region, there was a grenade attack at the junta army stationed at the junta Myawaddy Bank on Saturday night. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • In Yebyu Township in Tanintharyi Region, a Pyu Saw Htee member was shot dead by a local PDF in Mudu Village at about 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
  • In Moenyin Township in Kachin State, Hopin PDF announced on Saturday that car terminals and shops near the entrance and exit of the town as well as those near the junta armed forces were to close within three days.
  • In Matupi Township in Chin State, a military officer named Than Naing Win was shot dead in Hanaing Village on Friday. After that, six local people, including a couple of CDM doctors, were arrested by the junta army.
  • Basic Education Students’ Association and the activists released emergency warnings that teachers and students who had applied for Kaung for You Education should not stay in their homes to avoid being arrested there.
  • On Saturday, teachers’ groups announced that they would take action following the junta's targeting of CDM teachers teaching at public schools.
  • In California State in the United States, the Free Burma Action Committee-San Francisco led a public rally to commemorate Martyrs’ Day on Saturday.
  • In Daegu in South Korea, BUKBU FC held a fund-raising football match for the Spring Revolution on Sunday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • On the 75 th anniversary of the Karen National Defence Organization (KNDO), the Chief Military Officer called for understanding and unity among those fighting against the military dictatorship.
  • In Myawaddy Township in Kayin State, the junta armed forces blocked off the Myawaddy to Wawlay Road with barricades and shot mortars wildly. Consequently, local people have faced difficulties in their daily lives. On Saturday evening, a combined force of the KNLA and other groups removed the barriers and carried out a clearance operation in the area.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township under Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (3), there have been ongoing battles on a daily basis. According to the KNU/PDF on Sunday, the junta armed forces took local people as hostages.
  • In Fruso Township in Karenni State, a KA and KNDF combined force attacked junta armed forces stealing valuables and domesticated animals from people in Dawleku Village on Saturday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and his gun was confiscated.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, there has been heavy fighting between the junta army and the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) near Hsezin Village since Saturday. Reportedly, there were casualties among no less than 25 junta soldiers.
  • In Winemaw Township, there has been fighting between the junta army and the KIA near Nanzawyan Village since Saturday afternoon. Reportedly, the Lisu People’s Army and Shanni National Army have been fighting alongside junta soldiers in the battle.
  • In an interview with 74 Media, U Shwe Min, the Chair of the Lisu National Development Party, said that he would not change his attitude despite threatening letters calling for his assassination.
  • According to Mindat CDF, a convoy of over 100 military trucks left Pakkoku Township in Magwe Region for Chin State. 

The Military Council

  • On Saturday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and the government officer of Novosibirsk discussed the matter of direct flights between Myanmar and Novosibirsk in Russia.
  • On Saturday night, the junta team led by Min Aung Hlaing arrived back at Nay Pyi Taw military airport.
  • According to the Russian Palace, Dr. Dmitry Rogozin, director general of the Russian Space Agency whom the junta leader had met during his trip, was dismissed.
  • The military junta announced that the three people involved in Kaung for You Online Education (including the headmaster Ko Kaung Thike Soe) had been arrested in Aungban in Shan State on the afternoon of 13 July.
  • The World Bank warned that Myanmar could suffer economic problems for 10 years due to the political situation.
  • According to ISP Myanmar, there have been up to 300,000 IDPs in the areas under the control of the KNU and other EAOs; in Kayin State, Mon State, Bago East and Tanintharyi Region, after the military coup.
  • The junta Higher Education Department announced that students from University of Distance Education have to enroll by the end of July.
  • In Pathein Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the junta administrators have been collecting household lists using the excuse of the election in August 2023.
  • In Thayetchaung Township in Tanintharyi Region, junta soldiers set fire to the houses of local people who had run away.
  • In Mandalay Region, there have been frequent cases of robbery at gold shops and banks. As for the military junta, they have failed to handle those cases. Reportedly, they called bank managers for a meeting.

Summary on 18 July

  • The military junta tends to defame those who have been arrested by their armed forces. They spread a rumour that the headmaster of Kaung for You Education and his friends had been caught at a sexual entertainment venue, which led to criticism from the public.
  • The NUG Minister of Defence stated that they had been implementing strategies to demolish the military dictatorship. On a daily basis, the junta pillars have been cleared, resulting in a great loss for the military junta.
  • The NUG also called on the public to have understanding and unity with each other in the fight against the military dictatorship.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces have suffered great losses in battles against local PDFs. As usual, they have been burning villages and killing civilians.
