Yangon Region

  • The youth in Thaketa Township conducted “Free Our Leader” campaign for Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • As the pre-birthday movement for Daw Aung San Su Kyi, Yangon youth rallies made a “guerrilla protest” against the military dictatorship on Kyeik Wine pagoda road in Mayagon Township. Those rallies included participants from Sanchaung and Kyimyindine townships.
  • On Thursday morning, there was an explosion at 68 Residence at the junction of Kabaraye road and Sayar San road in Bahan Township. It is a modern condo project under construction and one of the share-holders is Daw Thet Thet Khine, a member of the State Administration Council. Reportedly, Yangon PDFs used a powerful hand-made bomb for the explosion.
  • An unknown gunman shot at U Maung Tun, the junta-appointed 100-household-leader of Ward (19) in Hlaingthaya Township. Reportedly, the household leader was not injured.
  • At 10:40 am Friday morning, armed forces blocked Sanchaung street and Min street and arrested a taxi driver at Win Star tea-shop at the crossroad of Sanchaung street and Padonma street in Sanchaung Township. The reason for the arrest is still unknown. Moreover, armed forces stopped and inspected passers-by and cars in front of Shwesin shop near Myatheindan pagoda at Ashaygon road corner in Sanchaung Township. After checking mobile phones, they arrested two young men and two young women.
  • At about 2:25 pm, armed forces blocked Dhamayone street and Aungdawmu street at Myaenigone in Sanchaung Township with four cars. They did not allow anyone to pass through the streets. They then raided apartments, but nobody was arrested.
  • Starting from Friday, security measures have been raised with four barricades at Ayeyarwun police station in the southern part of Dagon Myothit. There used to be only two barricades.
  • The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation-NUG requested business people not to purchase or take part in the bid sales for timber and plywood by Myanmar Timber Enterprise under the control of the junta. The event will be held in Yangon on 23rd, 24th and 29th June.
  • At about 1:45 pm, there was an explosion near the junta administration office on Marga street in Ward (12) of South Oakkalapa Township. A military car arrived there after the explosion and made an inspection.
  • At about 3:20 pm Friday, there were bomb explosions targeting a military car in front of the USDP office on road corner (147) and a Toyota Vitx taxi on road corner (155) in Tarmway Township. Two explosions happened at the scene on road corner (147) and the military car was destroyed. A soldier died and a number of other people were injured. Afterwards, a large number of military people blocked the streets from Tarmway mosque to Mingala Market and made thorough investigations. Regarding those explosions, they inspected the cars that passed Mingala Market on Banya Dala road until 5:00 pm.
  • At about 3:45 pm, there were four explosions near the city hall in Hlaingthaya Township. Reportedly, armed forces tightened security and made inspections there. Further enquiries are being made for details.

Mandalay Region

  • In Kyaukkone village of Kyartai village group, Myingyan Township, an informer to the junta named Min Zaw Oo told the villagers on Thursday night to send their children to school and said that if they fail to do so, their children would be suspended from school for five years.
  • The junta gave weapons to the pro-military people in Balone and Layywa Sone villages in Myingyan. Reportedly, the junta-appointed village administrator announced the curfew hours from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.
  • According to Myingyan Public Movement Committee, armed forces raided a house near Phaya Thone Hsu in Ward (6) of Myingyan on Thursday night and arrested a young man by force.
  • At about 11:50 am, a traffic policeman was shot dead near Yadanar Moe store in No. (19) Soonloon Ward in Myingyan Township.
  • On Thursday, Ko Myo, said to be an informer by the local people near the clock tower in the west of Moegoke, was shot and his arm was injured.
  • In Mandalay, U Kyaw Sein, the junta-appointed administrator of Chanmya Tharsi South Ward, was shot from behind on Friday morning while he was riding the motorbike with his grandson. He was injured in his back. Armed forces made inspections at the scene and found two bullets and one 9MM bullet shell.
  • Amidst the rain, Man Aung Pinle rally took to the streets and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Mandalay-based University Students Organization (Ta-Kha-Tha) made a motorbike parade around the city calling for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • At noon Friday, Man gems traders and brokers took to the streets and expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • Manlay Pyinyat Monks Union take to the streets every day without fail, holding the sign boards - “Peacefully protesting”.
  • There are more than 600 education staff members who have joined the CDM in Sinkku Township. Daw Thanda Aung, township education officer who keeps working under the junta, has been putting pressure on those CDM staff members for the repayment of interest-free two-month salary loans.
  • Armed forces have been raiding the villages of Sinkku Township with the excuse of the villagers attending warfare training. On Thursday, they carried out shooting at Min village football ground where the youth had been playing football. A young man was hit with a bullet in his thigh and was arrested.
  • Armed forces arrested a 43-year-old man named U Kam Hlaing from Namsam of Shan State, who had come to Moegoke to buy a motorbike on 29th April. He was charged with contacting a blacklisted organization. On Friday, he has been sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Young residents of Pyin Oo Lwin made a flower strike as the pre-birthday event for public leader Daw Aung San Su Kyi and as a protest against the military dictatorship.

Bago Region

  • Bago PDF announced on Thursday that they had conducted explosions at Bago Ward (6) administration office, criminal police office, Kalyarni Ward office, the revenue office and the electricity office. They also warned the informers and civil servants who keep working under the junta to stand by the public.
  • The people from Thanutpin Township made a “humanless strike” at dawn, scattering the pieces of paper with anti-junta words.
  • Two bombs exploded at Ward (5) administration office of Phado in Kyauktada Township on the morning of 15th June. Some police and military cars were damaged due to those explosions. So far, more than 20 people have been arrested.

Ayeyarwady Region

  • In Pathein, sheets of paper were scattered in front of the houses at 4:00 am, claiming that they are from the Pathein Informers’ Group and that they will take revenge on NLD party members and their family members, financial supporters, Gen-Z young people and the family members of PDF trainees.

Sagaing Region

  • Armed forces entered Ywathit village near Amyint old town in Chaung-U Township, shooting their guns. They then took away 200,000 Ks, edible oil and the tubs of oil-based fuel from the grocery shop in the village. Those armed forces have been stationed in Amyint old town.
  • In Hommalin, 50 junta police and soldiers raided Mya Thein Dan monastery Thursday evening. As the abbot had been away, they took away more than 100 rice bags which the public had donated to the monastery. They did the same at Naung Pu Kyit monastery on 16th June, made the abbot leave the monkhood by force and arrested him. They also arrested two local residents.
  • Monywa people made indoor protest, holding sign boards with anti-junta slogans.
  • A rally of various villages from Yinmarbin East and Salingyi North expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship, holding the sign boards - “Unity in farming knives”.
  • Monywa General Strike rally traveled round the town and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • Through Kyaukketad village in Minkin Township, armed forces and Pyu Saw Htee members have been raiding the houses in the villages in the lower part of Chin Dwin river, especially the houses of the government workers who have joined the CDM. Therefore, inhabitants of those villages have had to run away.
  • Through the lower parts of Chin Dwin river in Kani Township, armed forces are heading towards the northern part of Kani with three military cars. Reportedly, Pyu Saw Htee members on motorbikes are together with them.
  • In Thayetkan West village of Dipeyin Township, U Aung Myint Soe, the junta-appointed village administrator, was killed Friday morning. Afterwards, armed forces arrived there with seven military cars and raided in the village. In addition, they inspected the near-by villages, made some arrests and destroyed the houses.

Magwe Region

  • In Myaing, teachers, parents, students and the general public expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • The military junta has been putting pressure on 75 staff members of public health department in Taung Dwin Gyi Township, who have been in the CDM, to resume their work.
  • Some young residents of Natmauk made a high-heel strike, placing female high-heels on the photos of the military dictators.
  • In Thayet, armed forces have arrested 30 middle-aged and young residents with suspicion for the explosions at the houses of a child specialist doctor - Dr. Wutyi Khine Nyein Aye and an executive of city development committee - U U Myo Win the previous day. Eleven of them were said to have been freed. However, the release has yet to be confirmed.
  • In Yenangyaung, young people made a “human-less protest” against the military dictatorship, spreading flowers on the pieces of paper with the words of best wishes for Mother Su.
  • In response to the strong condemnation of US and British embassies on the fire at Kinma village, lit by armed forces, USDP, the political party backed by the military, issued a statement on Friday that they strongly condemn those releases, which damage the dignity of Myanmar people as well as regional peace.

Tanintharyi Region

  • In Longlone Township, young people from Yebyu and Natcin Shaung villages carried out protests at dawn and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship. Moreover, the people from Gadat Nge Seik village protested against the military dictatorship, holding sign boards that they will never be silent.
  • Myeik Dragon Generation Z, comprising young people from Myeik, made a human-less flower strike against the military dictatorship.
  • Dawei General Strike rally, in cooperation with the general public, expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship at noon Friday.
  • In Yebyu Township, Kanbauk residents protested against the military dictatorship, holding posters with the words - “We will never be silent”.
  • The military junta put pressure on Across the Border Doctors to stop their medical help for TB and HIV infected people in Tanintharyi Region on 6th June. Starting from the morning of 17th June, the organization is able to operate again.

Kachin State

  • In Moemauk Township, 7 military cars carrying rations and soldiers from Bamaw arrived at the army Ka-Ma-Ya (439), stationed at Nwam Lant village Friday morning.
  • In Dawphoneyan of Moemauk Township, KIA attacked 800 junta soldiers in 50 military cars Friday morning. Reportedly, there were a lot of deaths of junta soldiers.
  • In Tanai, the military junta dismissed 134 education staff members, who have joined the CDM.
  • In Pha-Kant Township, the public from Lone Khin village group made a parade in the village and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship. Amidst the threatening acts of firing by armed forces, residents of Tarmakan Myothit protested against the military dictatorship, holding the sign boards with anti-junta slogans.
  • On Friday evening, two military helicopters flew over Pha-Kant, where there are anti-junta movements. Enquiries are being made for the reason of those flights.
  • In Moegaung, the locals and the education family members made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for NUG.

Kayar State

  • Reportedly, there was shooting at Mahtawku village group in Lwai Kaw Township on Thursday night.
  • According to PKPF, 8 civilians were shot dead for no apparent reason during the stay of armed forces in Dimawso Township. Four of them were in the compound of BEHS, another three in the ward and the one near Moepyel railroad. There have been other cases like this.
  • Armed forces have opened a check-point near a church in Sanpya 6 mile village of Dimawso Township. They have been inspecting roadusers of Lwai Kaw-Dimawso. In addition, they have instructed people not to use the streets in the villages as they claim mines have been placed there.

Kayin State

  • At about 9:00 am Friday, there was an explosion at the bridge near the signpost of entrance to Phapun. Reportedly, there were no injuries.

Chin State

  • Zomi Revolution Army (ZRA), which has been working for Zo ethnic affairs and the integration of Zo ethnic people under one state, announced on Friday that they would not accept the formation of any armed groups in their operating areas. Their key operating areas include Manipura and Mizoram on India-Myanmar border, and Chin State in Myanmar. Reportedly, ZRA destroyed the training camp where Teetai PDF had been operating.
  • In response to the destruction of a PDF training camp by ZMA, various Zomi defence forces announced their strong condemnation on Friday.
  • Five young people who have been in detention after a bomb explosion in Palatwa were transferred from the police station to Regiment (289).
  • The IDPs from Mindat are still in the forest and at IDP camps. Reportedly, they are badly in need of food and medicine as well as accommodation due to the rain and poor weather conditions.
  • According to Mindat Public Administration, a 7-month-old baby boy died of the lack of medical treatment for the cold. He was one of the IDPs who had to run away due to the attack of the military in Mindat.
  • Through the leaders of Mindat community, there will be a meeting between Chinland Defence Force and the military on Friday. In Phaya Sakan village of Mindat, where the military rule has been declared, junta soldiers destroyed the houses of the public the previous day. This is the second time that they have done so.
  • At Baryat bridge in Phalan, armed forces made car transporting chickens travel together with their military car to the village on the way to Kalay. They also made fired ammunition near Loneban and Htinshuu camps for no apparent reason.

Mon State

  • In Kalawthaw village of Mudone Township, armed forces raided the house of Dr. Phone Wai Oo, a NLD party member, and arrested him for investigation on the night of Thursday. It is not known yet where he has been detained.
  • The people in Paung Township went to the beach, wrote “We want Democracy” on a 30-foot-long piece of clothing, and protested against the military dictatorship.

Shan State

  • In Narmakaw village of Thipaw, an unknown armed group took a 30-year old philanthropist named Sai Law from his house at 2:00 am and shot him dead.
  • Association for Public Democracy and Shan Youth Development was formed the previous day to fight against the military junta and build a new Republic of Myanmar with democracy.
  • In Muse, the education supervisor of the district and deputy education officer of Kutkhine were suspended from work for joining the CDM against the military junta.
  • The people from Thipaw made a flower strike as protest against the military dictatorship and as the pre-birthday event for Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • The youth in Muse made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship, holding posters in support of the PDF.
  • At the viewpoint between Kutkhine and Namphetka on Union road, a truck was burnt and another two were hit with shells at noon Friday.

Rakhine State

  • After the military coup, AA has been removed from the list of blacklist organizations. So, 21 lawsuits with the charge for contacting the AA were withdrawn.

Nay Pyi Taw

  • FAO under the UN rejected the appointment letter of representative submitted by the military junta. They made a decision not to accept anyone as the representative for Myanmar. ILO and WHO have decided that they would not recognize the representatives of the military junta.
  • The military junta is expanding the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development. Most cooperative businesses were running at a loss under the last government administration.
  • The military junta amended the 2020-2021 Union Revenue Law and reduced the amount of taxes for unknown sources of income.
  • Ministry of Health-NUG announced on Friday that they strongly condemn the killings of healthcare workers and volunteers, threatening their family members and arresting them with unlawful charges after the military coup. They would also punish those serving for the junta, who have been making trouble for the staff members in the CDM.
  • On the platform of Eternal Peace Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw, young people from Pyin Mana raised sign boards and expressed their wishes as a pre-birthday event for Daw Aung San Su Kyi.
  • Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said at the council meeting that banana plants would be distributed with reasonable price for the benefits of the country if the departments want to grow them. There have been environmental damage all across Kachin State due to the plantations of controversial Chinese banana plants.

Summary on 18th June

  • In Yangon, there were guerrilla protests on the streets as well as attacks targeting the forces under the junta. Security has been tightened and raids are being conducted constantly in the townships where there are frequent attacks on the junta armed forces and pro-military people.
  • In Mandalay, public protests are continuing. There are attacks on pro-military people. Security measures have been raised at the pillar offices, with fewer raids in the city.
  • In the villages of Sagaing, Minkin and Kani townships, the military, together with their Pyu Saw Htee members, make threatening shooting, raid houses and rob properties every day.
  • In some villages of Myingyan Township, the military has given weapons to pro-military people.
  • In towns and villages of other states and regions, public protests are ongoing with momentum. The IDPs in Chin State and Kayar State are in emergency need of food and medicine as well as for accommodation due to the rain.
  • The military junta made changes to the measures taken by the former NLD government. They have been putting effort into getting taxes and collecting new taxes. They have also been taking security measures constantly in cities as they assume that urban warfare may occur.
