The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that Pyin Oo Lwin was about 100 years old. Being a historic town, they need to take into consideration the need for a modern stadium which would be relevant to the status of the town.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing told business people to put effort into the production of coffee of high quality as the government would support access to good types of coffee beans, market and capital needs.
  • At the meeting of tourism in Mekong Sub-Region, the junta minister Dr. Htay Aung presented about launching Attractive Myanmar; procedures on health and safety; from the strategy roadmap (2021-25) on recovery of Myanmar’s tourism in post-COVID period.
  • According to the junta newspaper, a convoy of cars was attacked with remote mines near Yayei village in Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region as they were on their way back from vaccination.
  • According to a close associate of General Administration Department, the military junta instructed to collect data in wards and villages of Magwe Region with regard to which side the public support, the PDF of the NUG or the military.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Ministry of Defence-NUG announced that there were 13 policemen and 9 soldiers who had contacted to join the public the previous day. The ministry also knew that PDF members were faced with difficulties due to pressure of the military junta and with the strength of unity, that pressure must be resisted.
  • Ministry of Economics and Commerce-NUG announced that with the agreement of the Union Government, Daw Mya Nandar Thin was appointed as permanent secretary.

Revolution Activities

  • According to local residents, bunkers were being prepared for security measures in house compounds in the neighborhood of Laykaykaw Myothit of Myawaddy Township due to the news that there would be battles in the area between the junta armed forces and Kayin ethnic armed organization.
  • According to a responsible person of Democracy Affairs Committee (Dawei District), Mg Yin Mg Thant aged 15 was shot dead by junta soldiers in Gadat Ngetain village of Longlone Township at about 6:30 pm Friday.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of lower villages, led by students and youth, marched for the downfall of the military watchdog on Saturday.
  • In Longlone Township, a fearless rally of women, youth and students protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, young people conducted an anti-junta movement in a village on Saturday.
  • In Dawei, there was an anti-junta movement in Kanna sand ground on Friday morning, with posters calling on police and soldiers to join the public.
  • According to Kalaw Township Media, a combined force of the junta army and PNO attacked local PDF for one and a half hours on Saturday morning near Naungye village on Aungpan-Pindaya road in Shan South.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay District Students’ Union (Ba-Ka-Tha Central) led a march on Manawhari road and expressed their desire against the military dictatorship.
  • At about 5:00 am Saturday, Naungyoe Guerrilla Force blew up a MyTel telecom tower near Mandalay Technology University in Patheingyi Township.
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of Mandalay variety forces expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
  • On Saturday morning, Mandalay variety forces conducted an anti-junta movement, hanging a banner with anti-junta slogans at the traffic police office on Thaitpan road.
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, Latbadaung Taung General Strike went around the villages on Saturday morning and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Shwebo District, a MyTel telecom tower and related equipment were blown up near Thetkegyin village at about 7:00 am Saturday.
  • In Salingyi Township, local residents of Tawgyaung village marched for supporting the NUG and against the military dictatorship, holding signs- “All people, participate in the revolution for the downfall of the military junta”.
  • On Saturday morning, a rally of various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in a village on Saturday morning.
  • Amidst tight security measures by the junta armed forces in Myitgyina, a rally of Ba-Ka-Tha protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday due to the news that the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing arrived there.
  • In Kamayut Township of Yangon Region, Tha San, allegedly an informer to the junta, was shot at King tea-shop on Hledan road at about 7:00 am Saturday.
  • According to local sources, there were bomb explosions in many townships of Yangon on Friday night, including the area in front of Insein Prison.
  • In Kayan Township, a convoy of military trucks was attacked with mines by two young revolutionists. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers died in the incident. As for the revolution group, they lost two members. Another young man, who got injured, was arrested by the junta armed forces.
  • In Magwe Region, Yesagyo PDF announced that a military truck was attacked with 2 mines at about 10:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, 10 junta soldiers died in the incident.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kayar State, the military junta conducted movements, under the pretence of civilians using ordinary cars. Therefore, KNDF warned the public not to go out and travel after 6:00 pm, not to be mistaken if there is any shooting.
  • In Dimawso Township, U Nar Yel, sergeant of KA, died on Friday as he was hit with a mortar in the fighting between the junta army and a combined force of KA+KNDF near Dawposi and 6 Mile villages. His funeral was carried out on Saturday.
  • According to local residents, severe battles resumed between the junta armed forces and MNDAA at 3 locations on Myanmar-China border; Pansai (Gyukote), Monekoe and Lwegyun mountain, starting from Saturday morning.

Summary on 18th September

  • To show as if nothing was happening in the country, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing was supposed to be traveling around. In the neighborhood of Pansai and Monekoe with a large number of armed forces, there were severe battles.
  • The new territory of anti-junta movements is on the rise. In the area of Kalaw-Aungpan which had been peaceful for years, there were clashes with local PDFs and the junta army.
  • In Sagaing Region, Chin State and Kayar State, there were heavy battles. As for Kachin and Kayin states, they are in the position for fighting any time.
  • In terms of public protests against the military dictatorship, they were carried out every day in Mandalay, Sagaing and Dawei. As for Yangon, Magwe and Kachin, they had guerrilla protests.
