The Military Council

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing told the armed forces in Kachin State that a new government took office in the 2015 General Election. During their tenure, there was a lot of feedback and criticism and they couldn’t make it to a relevant extent in political, social and economic affairs.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that any government in the world had to try their best for the development of the country and thus, they had been giving priority to prosperity and food security in the country.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing, who had been exploiting natural resources in Kachin State, said that relying on resources would make it difficult in the long run and thus, productions that could secure the future of the country should be made.
  • The junta newspaper accusingly claimed that 4 local PDF members opened gunfire at Loikaw general hospital.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • U Aung Myo Min, Minister of Human Rights- NUG, said that concerning the mass murder by the military junta in Sagaing and Magwe regions, a report was submitted to the UN Human Rights Council on Sunday.
  • The NUG announced that as self-defence, the general public had been participating in the People’s Defensive War for their survival against the violence of the military junta. Reportedly, attacks were conducted at 11 targets of the administration of the enemy and 10 economic targets on Saturday.
  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, current Myanmar’s permanent representative to the UN, wrote a letter to the UN Secretary-General that as the military junta continued to conduct violence against the public in Myanmar, the international community needs to take immediate, constructive, effective, cooperative and result-oriented measures urgently.
  • According to the lawyer, the final appeal would be made for the withdrawal of two charges against Dr. Zaw Myint Maung, Mandalay Regional Chief Minister.

Revolution Activities

  • In Hakha of Chin State, the junta armed forces shot mortars wildly in ChinOoZi Ward at about 8:00 pm Saturday. According to local residents, no less than 5 people were hit with bullets and some houses were burnt down.
  • Due to shelling by the junta armed forces, more than 10 houses in Tantalan were burnt down. Pastor Cung Biak Hmun, who went out to put out the fire, was shot dead by junta soldiers who then took away his ring by cutting his finger.
  • In Thaketa Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion in front of KBZ Bank near Thaketa-Cinema bus stop at about 1:20 pm Sunday.
  • In Hlaing Township, Mg Win, allegedly an informer to the junta, was shot dead at about 7:30 am Sunday while he was sitting at a tea shop.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, a bomb exploded on the corner of Waybagi road and Thudama road at about 7:30 am Sunday. Reportedly, there were no injuries in the incident.
  • Amidst tight security measures in Yangon, Tamway Township Students’ Union (Ba-Ka-Tha Central) conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship, holding signs with anti-junta slogans.
  • In memory of comrade Ma Win Maw Oo who lost her life 33 years ago, a combined rally of the Students’ Union in Insein Township (Ba-Ka-Tha Central) made a guerrilla protest in the public on Sunday, conducting a sticker campaign and distributing anti-junta brochures.
  • As 223-day protest, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday afternoon.
  • In memory of Ma Win Maw Oo who lost her life 33 years ago in 88 public uprisings, a rally of Chanaye Thazan Township Students’ Union marched on Sunday for the downfall of the military dictatorship in the unfinished fight for democracy.
  • In Myingyan Township, there were bomb explosions at some places, including No. (1) police station, on Saturday night.
  • On Sunday morning, anti-junta posters were hung and anti-junta brochures were scattered in Mandalay.
  • In Sintkai Township, a mail train from Yangon to Mandalay was hit with mine near Tawma village at about 7:30 pm Sunday. Reportedly, two carriages were damaged.
  • On Sunday, youth and students protested against the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing to leave Myitgyina, placing anti-junta posters at the landmarks in the city.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, the junta armed forces conducted a violent crackdown on a rally of protesters near Inzauk village at about 9:30 am Sunday.
  • In Longlone Township, a man was shot in Gawin village. Reportedly, he was seriously injured.
  • In honour of Ma Win Maw Oo; a female student who fought against injustice till her last breath, Taungoo Township Students’ Union expressed their desire against the military dictatorship with anti-junta posters.
  • In Shwebo Township, local residents went around a village on Sunday morning and expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In honour of heroine Ma Win Maw Oo, Wetlet Township Basic Education Students’ Union hung clothing banners- “Fight with the spirit of Ma Win Maw Oo” at the crossroads and roadside of some villages.
  • In Salingyi Township, a combined rally of 3 villages from Latbadaung area was carried out a night strike against the military dictatorship by banging pots and pans on Saturday.
  • In Ngape Township of Magwe Region, the military junta told Padan villagers to leave by Sunday at the latest, saying that their houses were in the compound owned by the army. They also threatened that machines would be used to destroy the houses if the villagers failed to do so and legal action would be taken against them.
  • In Taungdwingyi Township of Magwe Region, U Kyaw Kyaw, a man, 50, was arrested and beaten by the junta armed forces. According to his relations, he died on Saturday noon.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kyaukme Township with the battle between Northern Alliance and RCSS, a female resident of Hukwet village was hit with mine. She was sent to Kyaukme hospital on Thursday morning. The ambulance of Hukwet village social group, which took her to hospital, was shot on their way back.
  • According to KNU, 5 military trucks went up to Ka-La-Ya (60) at about 11:05 am Sunday. Another 7 military trucks went there at about 11:45 am.
  • In Maikai Township of Shan South, there were exchanges of fire between two Shan ethnic armed organizations near the IDP camp in Nawlyaw village at about midnight Sunday.
  • In Kokang of Shan North, the military junta had been strengthening a large number of armed forces. According to the Kokang, there were 4 battles against MNDAA within a day.

Summary on 20th September

  • The junta leader went around the country and explained his reason for the coup to armed forces and their family members. However, his explanations were illogical and personal. The general public, including some families in the army, realized that the country was in a bad situation after the military coup. As the number of CDM soldiers increased, the junta leader was supposed to do the explaining by himself.
  • In Chin State, there were severe battles. The junta armed forces had a great loss there. As human rights violations, they even fired mortars at houses in towns. In Sagaing, they set fire to whole villages and conducted violence against local residents. In cities like Mandalay, there were robberies of motorbikes even in the daytime.
  • In the neighbourhood of Monekoe in Shan North, there were heavy battles. As for Sagaing, Mandalay, Yangon, Magwe and Dawei, they had great momentum in urban guerrilla attacks, clearance activities of junta-pillars and public protests against the military dictatorship.
