The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In a statement for the 74th Chin National Day, the NUG expressed their great respect for the Chin Defence Forces fighting for the end of the military dictatorship and for the liberation of Chinland. They also expressed their sincere thanks to all ethnic people, including the Chin people and Chin organisations, for their local and international contributions.
  • The Interim Chin National Council expressed its best wishes for the success of the Chin community in its efforts towards creating a federal democratic union.
  • In the statement for Chin National Day, the CRPH expressed that it was honouring Chin State for its fight for justice throughout history and for the unity among its people, public staff, political parties and revolutionary forces during the Spring Revolution.
  • On the 74th Chin National Day, Dr. Sasa, Special Envoy of the CRPH to the United Nations, said that the Chin community deserves the right to forge their own destiny.

Revolution Activities

  • In memory of the 22222 strike by Myanmar people overseas, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in front of the UN Headquarters in New York of the U.S.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, a large rally of local people marched against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • There was a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship where anti-junta slogans were shouted, in Yangon on Sunday morning.
  • On Saturday, Yangon’s PDFs conducted attacks at Hmawbi Army Avenue, Daweichaung Police Station, Myawaddy Bank near Sanpya Market and on a military truck. Reportedly, no less than 17 members of the junta armed forces might have died.
  • In North Dagon Township, there was a bomb attack at Daweichaung police station at about 7:00 pm Saturday. According to local residents, the junta police force fired back in response.
  • In South Dagon Township, there was a bomb attack at the police station on 2nd Road at about 5:18 am Sunday.
  • The original artist of ‘December Night’ criticized the performance of the song in the Winter Songs Program’ on the junta MRTV.
  • Revolution Forces, including General Strike Coordination Body – GSCB, called for public participation in a 222222 strike against the military dictatorship.
  • In South Korea, a rally led by Degu Sayardaw protested against the military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kalay in Sagaing Region, someone was cut into pieces. According to local people, it was a junta soldier named Thein Zaw.
  • On Sunday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Monywa, a combined rally of students and local people took to the streets on Sunday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In the south of Dibeyin, junta soldiers and Pyusawti members raided Yintway village at about 8:00 am Saturday.
  • In the south of Kalay Township, there was a guerrilla attack at the junta army at Gya-In village. Reportedly, 2 junta soldiers died and many others might have been injured.
  • On Sunday, a combined rally of Monywa students’ union and local residents marched on Kyaukka road, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Kani Township, the junta armed forces raided Chai/ Dinpauk village at about 11:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, they shot dead Ko Zaw Khine Win for no apparent reason.
  • In Kalay Township in Sagaing Region and Kanpetlet Township in Chin State, there were battles between local defence forces and junta armed forces. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.
  • In Mandalay, a rally led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw carried out a night strike against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union made a night protest, holding anti-junta signs.
  • In Pyigyi Dagun Township, a hundred-household leader was shot dead at about 10:00 am Sunday while he was sitting in front of his house.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Hopone Township of Pa-O self-administered region in Shan South, the Northern Alliance arrested a Mailin villager on suspicion of being an informer for the RCSS/SSA on Sunday morning.
  • In the south of Mobye on the Shan-Karenni border, there was fighting between a large number of junta forces and a Karenni combined force for the whole day on Saturday. According to Dimawso PDF, about 40 junta soldiers, including officers, died.
  • In Karenni State, the Karenni Democratic Front (KDF) is badly in need of mortars and bullets. They called for public’s contribution.
  • Reportedly, local defence forces confiscated weapons dropped from military helicopters.

The Military Council

  • In Chin State, the military junta organized small events at general administration departments for the 74th Chin National Day on Sunday.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Commerce, 12.54 million gallons of fuel oil, imported by 26 companies using 34 million USD from the junta central bank, is being sold in states and regions of the country.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Commerce, it is still negotiating to reopen Kyegaung, the main trading camp on the China-Myanmar border. It is is rumoured that it would be reopened in March.
  • According to the military junta, Myanmar will take part in 18 sports in the 31st SEA Games hosted by Vietnam.
  • On Saturday afternoon, there was an online discussion by the UN on climate change. Reportedly, present on the occasion were staff members of the junta MRTV.
  • In a statement for the 74th Chin National Day, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that they were carrying out activities to upgrade the education and health sectors to aid the development of human resources in Chin State.

Summary on 21 February

  • Despite the degradation of the community due to the violent activities of the junta armed forces in Chin State, the junta leader lied in a statement he made on Chin National Day saying that the military junta was fulfilling its requirements to help with development in the state.
  • In Yangon, the armed revolution gained momentum with guerrilla attacks all over the city. The same was true for protests against the military dictatorship.
  • In Sagaing Region, there were battles between local PDFs and the junta armed forces on a daily basis. As usual, junta soldiers suffered great losses and committed war crimes by setting fire to villages and using villagers as human shields.
  • In Chin, Karen and Karenni states, there have been battles between local PDFs/ EAOs and the junta armed forces on a daily basis. Reportedly, both sides have lost members.
