The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • To commemorate the 35th Chin Revolution Day on Monday, the Committee Representing the Pyitaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) sent a statement. It said that all democratic forces including Chin ones will overcome all the challenges faced by the Spring Revolution on the way to a federal democratic nation.
  • At about 1:00 pm on Saturday, there was an online meeting between the Education Committee under the CRPH and the Township Education Board under the Committee Representing the Tanintharyi Regional Hluttaw. Reportedly, they discussed the establishment of education committees consisting of experts and CDM staff.
  • In cooperation with thew USIP Burma Program, the NUG Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration has been conducting digital security training for the members of the Township People’s Administration since Saturday.
  • A representative of the NUG President’s Office stated that the report by Dr. Noeleen Heyzer to the United Nations General Assembly will hopefully become the driving force for the UN Security Council to take action against the military junta.
  • At 3:00 pm on Sunday, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and the Committees Representing the Regional Hluttaws from Sagaing Region, Magwe Region and Bago Region.
  • CDM students in their second semester of 2020 can enroll for the formal courses Batch (3) at Myanmar Nway Oo University starting on 17 March.

Revolutionary Activities

  • On Monday, a combined rally of local villages on the banks of the Chindwin River held a farm strike against the military dictatorship.
  • In Taze Township in Sagaing Region, there was a march calling for a boycott of the artists who will take part in the junta’s Thingyan celebration.
  • In Yin Mar Bin Township, a rally of Shwe Nwe Thwe protested against the military dictatorship on Monday.
  • In Monywa, there was a mortar attack on the junta’s headquarters of the North West Military Region on Sunday while the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing was there. In response, the junta army fought back with chemical weapons.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a mine attack on Pyu Saw Htee trainees on Saturday morning. Reportedly, nine of them died and many others were injured.
  • In Sintku Township in Mandalay Region, there was a mine attack on a junta convoy on its way back after inspecting gold mines at about 1:00 pm on Sunday. Reportedly, four junta soldiers died.
  • In Pauk Township in Magway Region, the junta army conducted air and ground attacks on a Pakkoku District PDF camp on Friday. They then burnt it down to ashes.
  • In Yesagyo Township, there were local battles against the junta army invading Yeelegyun Area for three days. Reportedly, local PDFs called for contribution to buy weapons.
  • In Gangaw Township, there was a mine attack on a combined force of the junta army and Pyu Saw Htee between Shotpin Village and Kaukku Village at about 11:00 am on Sunday. Reportedly, three junta soldiers died.
  • In the Yaw Area, there was a mine attack on the junta armed forces at 11:30 am on Saturday. According to YPDF, three junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members died.
  • In Launglon Township in Tanintharyi Region, the junta armed forces have been raiding villages both with forces on the ground and from waterways in March. Reportedly, they have also conducted arrests.
  • In Tanintharyi Township, there was a clash between the junta army and PDF fighters near the bridge at Htonekar Village on Sunday morning.
  • In Shan South, Taunggyi University Students’ Union called on U Aung Kham Hti, the leader of Pa-O National Organization (PNO/PNA) based in Kyauktalonegyi Area, to stop cooperating with the military junta so that he does not leave a black spot in the history books.
  • On Sunday, the Tactics of Muse warned local business people in Shan North not to advertise their products with the so-called artists cooperating with the military junta.
  • In Daegu in South Korea, Daegu Sayardaw led a protest against Myanmar’s military dictatorship on Monday.
  • To provide assistance to the IDPs all over the country, PDF members in the areas under the control of the Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (1) and Brigade (6) will publish books and sell them.
  • In Malacca in Malaysia on Sunday, the NLD OC Malaysia and the political activists led by U Myo Chit conducted a fund-raising music festival at Spa City Mall.
  • According to Data for Myanmar on Sunday, the junta armed forces have burnt a total of 60,459 houses over the two-year period since the military coup.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Demoso Township in Karenni State, there was an attack on the junta army on Sunday morning. According to KNDF Brigade (9), the dead bodies of five junta soldiers were found and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Thandaunggyi Township in Kayin State, KNLA Brigade (2) attacked the junta army at about 8:00 am on Friday.
  • In the statement for the 35th Chin Revolution Day, the Chin National Front claimed that it will implement administration, security and rule of law step by step.
  • In Laiza under the control of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO/KIA), there was a fire at J Yan IDP Camp on Sunday evening. Reportedly, 35 houses were burnt to ashes.
  • In an interview with BBC Myanmar, the Arakan Liberation Party stated that their new chair is Daw Saw Mya Yar Zar Lin and they would go on in accordance with the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).

The Military Council

  • On Sunday, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing went to the headquarters of North West Military Region in Monywa where there was heavy fighting against PDFs. He then called for unity within the junta army.
  • According to the junta propaganda newspapers, 290 sets of pearls were sold at the 58th Myanmar Gems Emporium held in Nay Pyi Taw for three days.
  • The junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation announced that the area of 678.19 acres in Pyinmanar Township in Nay Pyi Taw will become the Kyauktalone Kyoebyin Conservation Area starting from 14 March.
  • The junta Labor Department announced that skilled workers who will work abroad on their own and those who return home on leave will no longer need to apply for the Overseas Work Identification Card at Nay Pyi Taw and instead will be able to obtain it in Yangon within a day.
  • The military junta has been putting pressure on business people to provide financial assistance or sponsorships to celebrate Thingyan and build pandals (stages).
  • In Myeik Township in Tanintharyi Region, a military convoy wildly fired their guns in Toneyawgyi Village on Saturday. Reportedly, two people including a disabled young woman were hit by bullets and injured.
  • On Facebook and other social media, the military junta posted fake vacancy announcements. They then interviewed the applicants and made threats to get them to sign up as soldiers.
  • To spread the propaganda about how good the army is, departmental staff were instructed to watch the junta movie –‘A Red Blanket’ and submit the cinema tickets to their superiors.
