The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG announced that they had blacklisted and dismissed 92 non-CDM officers from the junta Agricultural Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation for their oppression of CDM participants.
  • In memory of the late journalist Hanthawaddy U Win Tin who passed away 8 years ago, people from all over the country, including NUG Ministers, international embassies in Myanmar, former political prisoners and activists, conducted a Blue-Shirt Campaign on Thursday for the release of all political prisoners.
  • In Mindat Township, the military junta threatened local residents to get them to repay loans from the previous government, including agricultural loans. Mindat Township Public Administration stated that it was not necessary to do so and repayments would only have to be made after the victory of the Spring Revolution.
  • According to Myaung Education Network on Thursday, they, in cooperation with the NUG Ministry of Education, managed to open 22 basic education schools in Sagaing Region’s Myaung Township in Sagaing Region.

Revolutionary Activities 

  • In an interview with Mizzima, CDM Captain Lin Htet Aung said that soldiers from various ranks had contacted them asking how to join the CDM.
  • The Federation of General Workers- Myanmar conducted a blue-shirt movement on the 8th anniversary of the passing of journalist Hanthawaddy U Win Tin.
  • In South Korea, Sayardaw Degu led a protest against the military dictatorship and an event in memory of journalist Hanthawaddy U Win Tin, who passed away 8 years ago.
  • In Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, an alliance of 16 forces warned that all copper production projects by the junta company and Chinese company should stop or else, there would be attacks on them. They also called on workers to resign by 5 May at the latest.
  • According to Special Force 11 (PDF), five members of Chaung-U Township PDF lost their lives while protecting Monywa General Strike due to two junta informers pointing them out to junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members. Reportedly, both of them were killed.
  • In Tigyaint Township in Sagaing Region,the Eagles Army – HPDF conducted a mine attack on the junta army invading the area at 10:00 am on Friday. Reportedly, six junta soldiers died and four others were injured.
  • In Tamu, U Htein Win, allegedly a Pyu Saw Htee leader in Sawbwa Ward, was shot dead at 8:30 am on Friday.
  • In Taze Township, the junta army fired from military helicopters in the neighborhood of Inn Village and Gadait Village at 3:00 pm Friday, even though there was no fighting in the area. 
  •  In Kani Township, a local PDF carried out a mine attack on a military convoy of rations at 9:00 am on Wednesday. Reportedly, a junta soldier died and four others were seriously injured.
  • On Thursday, Letpadaung Taung General Strike protested against the military dictatorship and called for the release of all political prisoners. 
  • On their 407 th day of protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • On their 438 th day of protest, Kalay people in blue shirts marched against the military dictatorship on the 8 th anniversary of the passing of journalist Hanthawaddy U Win Tin.
  • In Salingyi Township, a rural community made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Shwebo Township, the Shwe Kun Myay Rally protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning. 
  • In Dibeyin Township, the junta army killed a villager named Ko Nay Myo Oo and set fire to 40 houses in Nyaunghla Village on Wednesday.
  • In Kamayut Township in Yangon Region, there were six bomb explosions at a police station on Bayint Naung Crossroads on Thursday morning. Reportedly, there might have been casualties among members of the junta police. Due to wild gunfire from the police station, two people in the neighborhood died.
  • Dark Shadows expressed their sorrow for the death of two people killed by the junta police after the attack on Kamayut Police Station.
  • In Khayan Township, a military car on patrol fell into a stream at about 5:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, there might have been casualties.
  • The Anti-Fascist Force announced that they had assassinated Saw Moe Win, a former military officer and manager of the Global Treasure Bank (the Maungmakan Branch) in South Dagon Township for his oppression of CDM staff and anti-junta people.
  • In Khayan Township, U Thant Sin, a retired staff member, was shot dead in Thabyukan Village on Thursday morning. 
  • In Shwepyitha Township, a local PDF conducted a bomb attack on the office of social welfare and administration office, where junta armed forces had been stationed, as a part of the Nanhtike Aung Operation at 8:00 pm on Wednesday.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, there was an explosion near the Municipal Office on Wednesday evening.
  • In Yebyu Township in Tanintharyi Region, youths from the Kanbauk Area conducted a Blue- Shirt Campaign on Thursday.
  • In Longlone Township, local people in blue called for the release of political prisoners on Thursday afternoon.
  • Dawei District PDF announced on Thursday that the public were not to travel on the Dawei-Myeik Union Road from 7:00 pm to 4:00 am.
  • In Patheingyi, a local guerrilla force blew up a military junta CCTV security control box at the downtown traffic light zone on Thursday morning.
  • In Myingyan, local PDFs threw a grenade at No. (1) Police Station on Wednesday night. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died.
  • On 18 April, the news came out that Ko Thura Aung, a leader of the Mandalay protest, died after vomiting blood during an investigation, according to the Mandalay General Strike on Wednesday. They are currently seeking confirmation of the facts.
  • In Mandalay, wife of the Vice-Chair of the District NLD was arrested by the military junta as a hostage. Reportedly, her dead body was discarded on the roadside on 18 April.
  • In Magwe Township in Magwe Region, San Mu, the junta-appointed administrator of Kyarkan Village and allegedly a junta informer, was killed at 9:15 am on Thursday.
  • In Ywangan Township in Shan South, there were sudden heavy rain and strong wind while junta fighter jets were on their way to attack PDF camps in the mountain range to the west of Nabangyi Village on Wednesday. Consequently, they had to retreat and all PDF members managed to move somewhere safe.
  • On 19 April, Muse Security and Defence Force announced that action would be taken against administrators in Muse and Namkam who follow the instructions of the military junta and join hands with them.
  • Mobye PDF stated that drug dealers and users would be punished by local PDFs from their respective areas.
  • According to the AAPP, just a few political prisoners were given an amnesty by the military junta.
  • On Wednesday, a monk went to the frontline battlefield with PDFs to fight against the junta army. Reportedly, he gave a motivational talk to PDF members.
  • On Thursday, Defence Forces announced that they would identify and arrest those smuggling drugs into Mizoram State of India.
  • The U.S Embassy in Yangon announced on Thursday that the U.S Government, in cooperation with international allies, would keep their commitments to put pressure on the military junta.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • On Thursday morning, THE University Entrance Exam got started in the areas under THE KIO. Reportedly, a total of 2,192 students sat the exam.
  • In Duplaya District under KNU Brigade (6), the KNU announced on Wednesday that they would no longer allow military junta projects for national registration cards and household lists in the area.
  • It is believed that a large number of junta armed forces are preparing to invade the Lay Kay Kaw Area.

The Military Council

  • According to local people, the so-called Danu nationalists, who are aligned with the junta, have been recruiting to establish a Danu Army in Ywangan Township in Shan South.
  • On Wednesday, Dr. Htar Htar Lin and Dr. So Oo, who had worked on COVID-19 vaccines, were sentenced to prison.
  • The junta Central Bank announced the businesses and organizations which were excluded from their foreign money policy. According to the junta Ministry of Health, 500,000 doses of Astrazeneca COVID-19
  • Vaccine, donated by Malaysia, arrived at Yangon International Airport on Wednesday.
  • The junta Yangon General Hospital announced on Thursday that the out-patient center for mental health would be reopened starting from 26 April. 
  • In a meeting with the Secretary of the Junta Peace Committee on Wednesday, ASEAN Chair’s Special Representative Officer said that they would support the peace process in Myanmar.
  • The junta Minister of Investment and International Economic Relations said that they had been developing and will soon release Standard Operating Procedures to enable Myanmar companies without foreign currency to change MMK to foreign currency so that they can pay for imports.
  • There was a meeting between the junta deputy ministers and the team leader of the ASEAN Chair’s Special Representative Office for implementing the first phase and preparations for the second phase related to humanitarian aid for Myanmar via the AHA Centre.
  • In the meeting with the UMFCCI on Wednesday, the junta Minister of Trade and Commerce said that they would solve the difficulties of cash withdrawals and payments related to Central Bank.

Summary on 22 April

  • Despite tight security measures, the junta armed forces faced bomb explosions and attacks. Because of their response of firing wildly, there were civilian casualties. Because they are scared they are murdering members of the public.
  • In the very near future, there might be heavy battles between PDFs + their allies and the junta armed forces all over the country. As for the military junta, they declared an unlimited state of emergency in the army and alerted their members. As for the public, they need to take great care.
  • Throughout the country, armed revolutions and protests gathered momentum. There were also heavy attacks on junta targets, members and camps. The number of casualties among members of the junta armed forces is increasing on a daily basis.
