The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In Karenni State, revolutionary forces managed to confiscate a junta army tank. According to Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment- NUG, there would be a reward for such a confiscation.
  • The military junta announced that they would take action against those holding dollar locally. On the other hand, the NUG stated that USD could be easily and safely saved at their Spring Bank.
  • In the government meeting, the Acting President of the NUG claimed that it is essential to get the public’s support for victories in the revolution and it is vital to take action and establish alliances in order to get the public’s support.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Khin-U Township in Sagaing Region, the junta army has invaded the area since Tuesday morning. Reportedly, over 8,000 local people have had to run away.
  • On Tuesday, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin led an anti-junta march.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of Shwe Yegyi marched against the military dictatorship on Tuesday.
  • In Shwebo Township, there was a mine attack on the junta army on Sunday morning. Reportedly, 7 junta soldiers died.
  • In Kani Township, a junta soldier died, another one named Tun Win was caught alive and weapons were confiscated in fighting near Nwar Changone Village on Sunday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township of Taninthayi Region, the PDFs set fire to the old junta camp in Yga Nge Village on Sunday night after the departure of the junta soldiers.
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, there was an attack on the junta investigation gate in Yebyar Village on Tuesday morning. Reportedly, a junta policeman died and weapons were confiscated.
  • In Myaing Township, there was an attack on Kanni (Pyusawti) Village on the afternoon of 22 August. Reportedly, a Pyusawti member died.
  • At about 5:00 pm Monday, there was an attack on two junta soldiers on their way shopping at Yenangyaung Myoma Market. Reportedly, one of them died on the spot.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township of Mandalay Region, there was a bomb attack on the junta financial statistics office.

Ethnic Armed Organisations (EAOs)

  • In Titain Township of Chin State, two policemen defected to the PDF-Zoland, along with weapons, on Sunday. Reportedly, each of them was rewarded with 50 lakh MMK or 5 million MMK.
  • In Demoso Township of Karenni State, the junta army set fire to a house in Tani Larle Village on Tuesday morning.
  • In Karenni State, the focal person and the director of the Rural Land provided 100,000MMK to each CDM policeman from Karenni People’s Police Force.
  • In Kyonedoe Township of Kayin State, the junta army fired mortars into local villages. According to the Karen National Union, a person lost their life and some houses were damaged.

The Military Council

  • In a press conference on Tuesday, the junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun stated that they had been focusing on collecting a national population census in 2024.
  • The junta propaganda leader claimed that they had been making an effort to empower exporters.
  • The junta Vice-Chair (2) of the Central Bank stated that inflation was in some extent due to the high cost of imports and the increase of trade deficits.
  • The military junta stated that there had been 119 peace talks from March 2021 to 27 July 2023.
  • According to the military junta, El Nino will impact countries including Myanmar this year. However, it would not affect the production of rice as the extreme weather would be only after the harvest of the wet paddy.

  • Despite their promise to hold an election, the military junta keeps putting it off. They changed their tune saying that the election could be held only after the collection of the population census throughout the whole country.
  • The military junta has failed to admit that the high inflation rate is due to their mismanagement. Instead, they just blame the high cost of imports and greedy people.
