Summary on 22 January

  • There was military tension between RCSS and UWSA, which announced that they would carry out defense sharply. There have not been any battles between these two powerful armed organizations for over ten years. If they resume their fighting, local people would have a great loss. In Shan North, there are still thousands of IDPs due to battles between RCSS and SSPP.
  • Despite the junta propaganda that Karenni Forces have been committing war crimes, it is junta soldiers, in reality, who have been conducting a variety of terrorist acts, including using people as human shields and conducting rapes. Likewise, the junta armed forces have been preparing for marches alongside human shields in Sagaing. They would then accuse PDFs of attacking civilians through their propaganda. It is their plan for abusing grassroots level staff members.
  • As for Sagaing, they had great momentum in the revolution with harmony among the KIA, PDF and ABSDF. In the near future, there might be liberated areas in the region.
  • In Kayin and Karenni states, there were still heavy battles. The military junta had a great loss there whereas thousands of local people had to run away. The IDPs have been in need of emergency assistance as they lack food.
