Yangon Region

• On Thursday afternoon, more than 1000 prisoners with criminal charges were released from Insein prison due to their cases being closed by the military junta.

Mandalay Region

• On Wednesday, a rally of Pyi/Gun with strong determination, led by Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw, held a night strike against the military dictatorship.
• On Wednesday night, a rally of Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public as usual. They then made a protest against the military dictatorship.
• On Thursday morning, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship, chanting “Our blood will not cool down until bloody debt is repaid”.
• On Thursday, Mandalay Monks’ Union expressed their desire against the military dictatorship.
• In Moegoke, a group of unknown people entered the house of the Yebu Ward administrator the previous night and there was gunfire.
• In Myingyan, Myingyan Technology College Students Union (Ba-Ka-Tha), in cooperation with the oppressed, protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
• A rally of Mandalay People expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Thursday.

Sagaing Region

• In Minkin, a woman passed away in the detention center because the military junta did not allow her to receive medical treatment. Reportedly, she had been unjustly arrested.
• · In Shwebo Township, U Thein Tint, a resident of kunseit village, was shot dead by the junta armed forces on Wednesday night.
• In Tantsi Township, a man named Gyagyi, Kangalegone villager and Pyusawti member, was killed by cutting off his head near the cemetery of Ilyashe village on Yeoo-Kalaywa road on Thursday morning.
• In Saipyin, young residents made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship.
• In Wetlet Township, U San Maw Lin, USDP lobbyist in Yelemaw village, was shot dead on Thursday.

Magwe Region

• In Myaing Township, Basic Education General Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public, went around the northern villages on their motorbikes and protested against the military dictatorship on Thursday, chanting “We will take preventive measures against COVID-19. We will also fight against the junta”.

Taninthayi Region

• In Longlone Township, basic education students made a movement for the recognition of NUG by the UN and against the military dictatorship.
• On Thursday morning, Dawei General Strike, in cooperation with a rally of students, expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
• ·In Longlone Township, the students and the public from Nyinmaw village marched in the rain for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
• In Longlone Township, the students in Lower Yebyu village called on the UN to officially recognize the NUG.
• In Thayetchaung Township, there was an anti-junta movement on Thursday morning, distributing educational leaflets for the prevention of COVID-19.
• In Longlone Township, there were public protests against the military dictatorship in Lower Kyaukwut, Waidy and Nyinmaw villages on Thursday.
• In Datgyi village of Longlone Township, basic education students led an anti-junta movement, calling on the UN to officially recognize the NUG.
• On Thursday afternoon, basic education students from Thabyeshaung village requested the UN to officially recognize the NUG.

Kachin State

• In Moenyin District, Kamai PDF made an attack with mines at a check-point of the junta armed forces at the entrance to the town at about 7:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, the military junta lost 4 soldiers.
• In Pha-Kant Lonekhine group, a rally of local residents expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.

Kayar State

• As the battles started again in Kayar State, local residents of two more villages had to run away. There are up to 3441 IDPs in Bawlake Township. According to a rescue team member, they were likely to face food supply problems.

Chin State

• By the time 4 military cars with oxygen machine arrived in the compound of Mindat hospital, there was a battle near Yanchaung village, between the junta armed forces and Mindat Township CDF.
• In the fighting between the junta army and Mindat CDF on Thursday afternoon, a 20-year old CDF member lost his life.

Shan State

• According to local residents of Thipaw Township, there were battles near Naung-Ang village, starting from 7:00 am Thursday.
• In Shan East, there was damage in Maiyaung and Maipyin townships due to days of heavy rainfall.

Kayin State

• In Mutraw (Phapun) District, there were 29 battles between the junta armed forces and a combined force of PDFs with the KNLA regiment (5) within 8 days from 15th to 22nd July. According to the KNU newsletter, 26 hunta soldiers died and 35 others were injured, including a military officer.

Nay Pyi Taw

• Ministry of Health - NUG announced on Thursday that they had established a COVID-19 prevention and control team in cooperation with ethnic health organizations. They would try to get international aid. They also expressed their hope for the cooperation of the public.

Summary on 22nd July

• In Yangon, there were almost no protests. The public still has to struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic. They also faced a lack of medicine as well as the need for oxygen.
• In Mandalay, there were still many public protests as usual with great momentum. There were also junta-pillar clearance activities.
• In addition to public protests in Sagaing Region, there were clashes between the junta armed forces and local PDFs as the military junta has been strengthening their manpower. Outside the battles, the junta army killed civilians. On the other hand, their informers and Pyusawti members were murdered. Such events are likely to increase all across Sagaing due to the brutal treatment of the junta army against the public.
• In Chin State and Kayar State, the battles started again. Consequently, there will be more IDPs in the days ahead.
• As for other states and regions, they had almost no protests. In Shan State, local residents may need help due to COVID-19 and disastrous floods.
