The Military Council

  • U Khin Mg Yi, the junta minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, and other responsible personnel attended the 16th ASEAN environmental ministerial meeting and related ones hosted by Indonesia via video conferencing on Thursday morning.
  • According to the Ministry of Education, (53179) students aged 12 and above in Yangon got COVID-19 vaccinated for the first time.
  • According to the junta newspaper, the junta chair of Yangon City Development Committee and the junta chair of Nay Pyi Taw Council attended Lancang-Mekong Governor Forum on Culture and Tourism, organized by China to revitalize the tourism sector beyond the COVID-19 pandemic, via video conferencing together with administrators and governors from regional countries such as China, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
  • At ASEAN+3 Financial and Central Bank Deputy Ministerial Meeting, U Mg Mg Win, the junta deputy minister of Planning and Finance, said that COVID-19 had negative impacts on Myanmar’s economy. The significant fall of economic growth rate in Myanmar was mentioned in the Macroeconomic Outlook Reports by World Bank, IMF, ADB and AMRO. However, Myanmar hoped to gain the economic growth rate of (3.8%) in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaw Min Tun said that an officer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs would attend ASEAN Summit.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG announced that there were weekly lectures for midwifery students in the Myanmar Midwifery Education Group to achieve health and education objectives in the intervening time and those lessons were based on the curriculum of the International Confederation of Midwives.
  • According to the NUG, 5 soldiers and 3 policemen made contact on Friday to join the public.
  • On Friday, Ministry of Women, Youth and Children and Ministry of Human Rights-NUG jointly launched a report on violations of women rights in Myanmar by the junta army starting from the military coup on 1st February to September.

Revolution Activities

  • According to the U.S. Advocacy Coalition for Myanmar – USACM, 3 representatives from USACM met with 3 U.S. lawmakers to push for the Burma Act, which would target the military junta.
  • On Friday, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship.
  • As a 257-day protest, Kalay people marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • In a village of Shwebo Township, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Friday morning.
  • On Friday, the junta armed forces raided the villages in Ayadaw and Khin-U townships of Sagaing Region. Reportedly, they arrested, beat and shot at local residents, accusing them of being PDF members.
  • In Dimawso, the junta army shot mortars into the wards. Consequently, some more houses in Zaygone Ward were damaged. As there are still unexploded mortars, Dimawso Township PDF has called on the public to take caution.
  • In Thaketa Township, a combined rally of local residents, Dawbone students’ union and LGBTQ took to the streets on Friday morning and made a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship, holding signs - “The public with empty future”.
  • In Thanlyin Township, Thanlyin REVOLUTION Youths led an anti-junta movement on Friday, hanging anti-junta posters.
  • At about 1:15 pm Friday, there was a robbery at the branch of KBZ Bank at Urban Asia on 48 street in Bodataung Township.
  • In Yebyu Township, the junta army shot dead a resident of Wetchaung and left his body in front of his house.
  • At about 8:30 am Friday, U Nyi Nyi Aung, a member of Dawei District Administration Council, was shot.
  • In Yebyu Township, the junta army inspected a human head hung on the fence in front of NLD office. According to a local resident, they did not remove it.
  • On Thursday night, a rally of southern Dawei expressed their desire against the military dictatorship, burning the image of the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing.
  • In Pandale village of Longlone Township, two men were shot dead by an armed group in plain clothes, assumed to be Pyusawti, at about 8:30 am Friday.
  • In Hakha, the junta armed forces arrested and beat local residents at about 2:00 pm Thursday. They then left the area, using the people as human shields. On the other hand, a combined force of CDF blew up the Thimyit stream-crossing bridge between Hakha and Tantalan.
  • In Insein Township, Ghost Rangers warned the electricity department which had been collecting electricity bills from the public by force.
  • In Myaing Township, a combined force of Basic Education General Strike Committee and local people marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday night.
  • In Pyi of Bago Region, local underground guerrilla force conducted a bomb attack near the junta army (959) at about 7:20 pm Thursday. According to Pyi PDF, 2 junta soldiers died on the spot and 6 others were injured.
  • On Friday, a rally of Mandalay engineers took to the streets, calling on the public not to live as if the revolution had nothing to do with them.
  • On Friday, Mandalay Monks’ Union led an anti-junta movement, reciting Parittas.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • According to MNDAA, junta soldiers no longer take back weapons and bodies of their peers who died in frontline battles against EAOs and PDFs. Instead, they just leave them easily and run away.
  • In Moemauk Township of Kachin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and KIA at Dagaw divergent point from 6:30 am to 8:00 am Friday.
  • In Dimawso of Kayar (Karenni) State, KNDF fired at the junta army stationed in the monastery compound at the back of police station from 8:00 pm to 8:30 pm Thursday. Reportedly, there were casualties among the junta soldiers.

Summary on 22nd October

  • The military junta has been arranging to send an officer to ASEAN Summit. However, they may be able to take it easy only when they follow the ASEAN consensus. On the other hand, they cannot do as much as expected because there are restrictions on their access to financial resources.
  • The NUG released a report on human rights violations of the junta armed forces in Kayah and Chin. They are getting better at diplomatic affairs in the international community.
  • In Sagaing Region, there were attacks by local PDFs. On the other hand, the junta army oppressed local residents in search for PDFs and thus, the whole villages had to run away.
  • In Chin, Kachin, Sagaing and Shan North, there were frequent battles. The same was true for Kayin and Kayah.
  • As for Yangon, Mandalay, Ayeyarwaddy, Bago, Taninthayi, Magwe and Sagaing, they had public protests as well as activities of guerrilla revolution.
