The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • In Shan South, Pekone Township Public Administration announced on Friday that 35 more non-CDM staff members had defected to them. 
  • On Friday morning, there was a meeting between the NUG Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration and extended public administration teams. Reportedly, they discussed the situation on the ground. 
  • Ministry of Health-NUG strongly condemned the attacks of the junta army on two hospitals in Banmauk Township of Sagaing Region, which had caused casualties among civilians. 
  • On Friday, Ministry of Health-NUG released a statement with great sorrow for the healthcare staff and civilians who had lost lives due to the junta army. They added that they would bring justice for the victims without fail. 
  • According to the Western Region People’s Defence Army, they have been training for urban operations and battles to gain control of the town. 
  • In Yinmabin Township of Sagaing Region, CDM doctors and CDM healthcare staff provided medical check-ups and conducted health talks at the interim basic education school on Saturday. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Hlaing Township of Yangon Region, Tin Maung Win, the junta hundred-household leader in Ward (2), his wife and his nephew were shot dead at their house on Saturday morning. 
  • In North Dagon Township, a couple were shot at U Kyin Oo Market in Ward (32) at about 10:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, the husband died and his wife was seriously injured. 
  • In Thanlyin Township, two PDF members were arrested together with weapons at a house in Thabyaykan Village on Saturday morning. 
  • In Kani Township of Sagaing Region, there was a protest against the military dictatorship in a village on Saturday morning. 
  • In Monywa, there was an attack on No. (2) Police Station at 9:00 pm Friday. According to Golden Eagle Force – Monwya, a member of the junta police died and another one was injured. 
  • In the west of Yinmabin Township, 11 members of Monywa District PDF (13) were attacked by the junta army in Shwe Hlan Village at about 5:00 am Saturday. Reportedly, 9 of them lost their lives and 2 others were arrested. 
  • In Myaung Township, the junta army raided Shwe Paukbin Village on Saturday morning and shot at local people. Consequently, a boat sank and 5 villagers are missing. 
  • In Wetlet Township, the junta army raided Hanlin, an ancient Pyu city, on Saturday morning and fired mortars. Consequently, over 10,000 people from 19 villages have had to run away. 
  • On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement. 
  • In Myaing Township of Magwe Region, local PDFs attacked Lingadaw Police Station on Friday afternoon. Reportedly, 7 junta members died and many others were injured. 
  • In Paukkaung Township of Bago Region, there were two mine explosions at an electricity office at about 8:00 pm Thursday. Reportedly, there may have been casualties among members of the junta army. 
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, three men and a woman were attacked with guns and knives in Kyauk Hsin Village at 2:00 am Friday. 
  • In Hinthada of Ayeyarwaddy Region, there was a bomb explosion at 4:00 pm on 13 October. In the incident, Soe Min Than, a junta traffic police sergeant, was seriously injured. Reportedly, he passed away on Friday. 
  • Regarding the sale of a Korean military ship to Myanmar’s Navy in 2009, Justice for Myanmar and Korean Civil Society in Support of Democracy in Myanmar called for legal action against the responsible personnel. 
  • In Kachin State, a rally of people from Hpakant gems mines marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting anti-junta slogans. 
  • On Friday, Chair of the Financial Action Task Force-FATF stated that Myanmar had been on their blacklist for terrorism and crime financing. After the announcement, the Myanmar Kyat decreased its value sharply and the price of US Dollar rose within hours. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Kanpetlet of Chin State, there was a fighting between the junta army and a local CDF on Friday morning. Reportedly, 3 junta soldiers, including a captain, died. 
  • In Kyaikto Township of Mon State under Karen National Liberation Army-KNLA Brigade (1), the military junta regarded the area as military operation area and invaded with a large number of the junta armed forces. Consequently, there still have been heavy battles and the number of displaced people reached nearly 2,000. 
  • Starting from Friday morning, a combined force of KNLA conducted their fighting to take control of Kawkarait in Kayin State. General Saw Nerdah Mya, founder of Kawthoolei Army, called for cooperative fighting against the junta army. He also claimed that the military junta would face their downfall very soon. 
  • In the area under the control of the Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (6), the junta army stationing in Maingkone Village Monastery ran away. Reportedly, a combined force of KNLA burnt the junta army camp there. 
  • In Kayin State, Myawaddy-Kawkarait-Asia Road had been closed for 5 days due to battles. According to the Commander of KNLA, the road would be reopened on Saturday. 
  • To raise a revolution fund for the KNU, Thoolei Lottery was initiated. However, there are still only a few ticket buyers. 
  • Karenni National Progressive Party-KNPP conducted their basic military training Batch (74) with 179 trainees for 3 months. Reportedly, they successfully completed it on Saturday. 

The Military Council 

  • On Friday, the junta Myanmar Investment Commission approved of 13 businesses including the ones for power production with renewable energy. 
  • On the third day of the 2022 Mid-Year Gems Emporium, 173 sets of pearl were sold. 
  • On Friday, the military junta announced that they would take effective action against the war crime of the KKO and PDF fighting for the town of Kawkarait. 
  • On Friday morning, Thailand donated 100,000 Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines for kids through Myanmar Red-Cross Association. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, licenses for storing oil and petroleum products must be extended from 1 November to 31 December. 
  • The military junta stated that extra National Registration Cards-NRCs and household lists would be abolished and the bank accounts opened with such NRCs would be done the same starting from 1 November. 
  • In Yangon Region, the military junta banned the sale and purchase of drones and related equipment. 
  • According to the junta Union Election Commission-UEC, they approved of the location for polling stations in 45 townships of Yangon Region. 
  • In northern townships of Rakhine State, the military junta banned travelling by the waterways. Reportedly, local people have faced difficulties in transportation. 
  • In Ngayotegaung of Ngapudaw Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, a large number of the junta armed forces have been mobilized in the area. 
  • In Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region, the military junta would hold a hot air balloon competition in Dazaungdine Festival. 
  • In Thayet of Magwe Region, a junta soldier attempted suicide on Friday. 

Summary on 22 October 

  • On Friday, Myanmar was placed on the blacklist for financing. Consequently, the local financial market was affected and the price of the USD increased, along with the depreciation of the local currency. 
  • The revolution has been in great momentum throughout the country. As for Kayin, Karenni, Chin, Sagaing and Magwe, they have had heavy battles. In those areas, local armed forces managed to take control of the junta army camps one after another. However, it is necessary for the upcountry area to take caution due to the danger posed by junta air strikes. 
  • In recent days, both the junta armed forces and local defence forces lost members. As for the military junta, they broke the Geneva Convention and killed the prisoners of war.
