The Military Council

  • The military junta announced that despite the decision of ASEAN not to invite them to ASEAN Summit, they were fully entitled to joining it as such a decision was not in compliance with the ASEAN Charter.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, Lancang-Mekong Puppet Festival would be organized at National University of Arts and Culture Mandalay from 25th to 31st December.
  • The junta newspaper said that investigations were being made to arrest robbers of the KBZ Bank branch in Bodataung Township of Yangon Region.
  • The junta Ministry of Planning and Finance announced that for financial assistance to the industries of film, music, arts, press and media with negative impacts of COVID-19, a loan worth 15 billion MMK would be provided from COVID-19 fund.
  • According to the military junta, the 5th consignment of 4 million doses of Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccines arrived at Yangon International Airport from Beijing of China on Friday evening.
  • The military junta announced on Friday night that riding motorbikes and modified ones was not allowed in Hlaingthaya Township of Yangon Region where military rule had been declared.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • According to the NUG, a report on women rights violations was launched to identify the losses faced by women in the tenure of the military junta, take action against inhumane activities of the junta armed forces and protect the rights of women effectively.
  • At the UN General Assembly, U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative, said that the military junta conducted violent crackdowns on peaceful protests with real bullets, arrested people unjustly, ill-treated them and prohibited the legal rights of the accused.
  • At the UN General Assembly, U Kyaw Moe Tun said that they would closely cooperate with international community, including ASEAN, the UN, ICC and the countries in and out of the region to hold the junta army officers and soldiers accountable, take action against them and make them obey international laws.
  • People’s Soldiers officially announced that Captain Aung Myo Htet from Regiment (66) Inma, Batch (52) graduate of Defence Service Academy, left the junta army and joined the public.

Revolution Activities

  • At about 12:00 pm Friday, there were bomb explosions at electricity offices in (12) townships of Yangon Region.
  • On Saturday morning, the Yangon PDF conducted an attack on the bunker of junta soldiers in the traffic police office on Maha Bandula road in Bodataung Township. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died.
  • In Thanlyin Township, there was an attack on a security booth in front of Government Technological University at about 7:00 am Saturday. According to local residents, a junta soldier died.
  • In Thanlyin Township, a grenade was thrown into the house of Khin Oat, junta-appointed hundred-household leader in Aungchantha Ward, at about 9:00 pm Friday. Reportedly, there was no injury.
  • According to local people in Thanlyin Township, there were attacks on a security camp of the junta army and a car carrying junta soldiers on Saturday morning.
  • According to a prisoner who was released, actor Pyay Ti Oo and model Paing Dagun are ill in Insein Prison.
  • On Saturday, Shwepyitha Township Students’ Union conducted an anti-junta movement on YBS, distributing leaflets against the slavery education of the military junta.
  • In Tamway Township, staff of the city development authority, accompanied by the junta police, collected taxes from the shops along Kyaikkasan road on Saturday morning.
  • At about 2:36 pm Saturday, some unknown people fired ammunition into Bargara traffic police camp in Sanchaung Township. According to local sources, a junta soldier died and another one was injured.
  • In South Dagon Township, ACPLF made a bomb attack at the junta police in Ward (20) at about 12:15 pm Saturday. Reportedly, a policeman was seriously injured.
  • In Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region, 5 policemen from Chuptin police station asked for help from U Tin Tun and Mg Kaung Thiha, father and son from Kangyi village, telling lies that they would join the CDM. According to local residents, they killed them during the investigation.
  • According to local people, the junta army set fire to Kabaunggya village in Tantsi Township for the second time on Saturday.
  • In Shwebo Township, local residents of a village marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
  • As a 227-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East protested against the military dictatorship on Saturday, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Phyuu Township of Bago Region, a policeman named Sithu Win was shot dead on the highway on Friday night.
  • In Pekone of Shan South, local PDF attacked the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (336) at about 9:30 pm Friday. Reportedly, 5 junta soldiers on patrol died and 5 weapons were confiscated.
  • In Chanmya Thazi Township of Mandalay Region, there was an explosion at the entrance to Myayi Nanda stadium, where the junta armed forces had been stationing, at about 10:30 am Saturday. Reportedly, 3 junta security guards were seriously injured.
  • On Saturday, the interim council of Yadanarbone University strongly warned vice-rector Daw Tint Moe Thuza for putting pressure on CDM staff to repay their two-month loans.
  • In Madaya Township, the burnt body of a MSPD member Bibi and 4 buried bodies were found near Ziphyubin village on Friday.
  • According to a member of Kyaikto Revolution Force, they set off an explosion at an electricity office in Kyaikto of Mon State at about 5:02 am Saturday.
  • In Putao of Kachin State, a man from Zeoun village was beaten to death by junta soldiers on Tuesday.
  • On Saturday, Dawei youth carried out an anti-junta protest, hanging a banner.
  • In Myaing Township, the Basic Education General Strike Committee and young people led a march against the military dictatorship on Saturday.

Ethnic armed Organizations

  • In Mupan District of Koekant Special Region (1) in Shan North, there was a clash between over 80 junta soldiers and MNDAA on Friday afternoon.
  • On Wednesday night, KIA burnt down an inspection camp of the junta army in front of Tawhlan village on Shweku-Bamaw road.
  • According to KNU (Central), there were 123 battles between the junta army + BGF and KNLA+KNDO in Mutraw District of Kayin State from 1st to 20th October. Reportedly, 58 junta soldiers died, including 3 military officers.

Summary on 23rd October

  • The military junta accused ASEAN of breaching the Charter and claimed that they were fully entitled to joining the Summit. On the other hand, they arranged to send an officer there. Therefore, some analysts wonder if they are going to resign from ASEAN.
  • In Yangon, the military junta had a great loss due to guerrilla revolution forces. In Sagaing, the junta armed forces oppressed local residents who had nothing to do with PDFs. Due to such inhumane activities, a lot of soldiers were fed up with the junta army and joined the CDM. There are still many others who want to do so.
  • In the areas under KNU, there were over 100 battles against the junta army within 20 days. As for MNDAA, they might turn their defence into an offensive.
