Spring Revolution Daily News for 24 September 2022 

The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Man Win Khine Than, Union Prime Minister of the NUG, stated that international help was needed to prevent more incidents like the one in Letyatgone Village. 
  • Union Prime Minister of the NUG said that Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration must join hands to take security measures, and it was essential for members of the armed forces to act in accordance with the Code of Conduct-COC. 
  • In Salingyi Township of Sagaing Region, there was a prize-giving ceremony to outstanding students from a school of the interim education, along with the graduation for those who completed their study. 
  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the general public have been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. Reportedly, up to 25 members of the junta armed forces died and 9 others were injured on Thursday. 

Revolution Activities 

  • On International Peace Day which fell on 21 September, there was a meeting between the Myanmar community in the United States and Chair of the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights: APHR. Reportedly, an open letter was handed in on behalf of the revolution forces on the ground. 
  • In Pakkoku Township of Magwe Region, the junta army raided Myitphya Village for no apparent reason on Friday morning and set it on fire. 
  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion near the new bunker at Thamai Crossroads at about 11:45 am Friday. 
  • In Katha Township of Sagaing Region, local PDFs have been attacking the junta armed forces in various ways including drones and mines. 
  • In Myaung Township, the junta armed forces raided and attacked the camp of the local PDF near Nabat Village at about 5:00 am Thursday. Reportedly, the camp was destroyed. 
  • In the west of Chaung-U Township, a combined force of local PDFs on secret patrol conducted an attack on the junta army on Friday morning. 
  • On Friday, Kalay General Strike continued their protest against the military dictatorship, holding signs to uproot the junta army which has been killing the people including children. 
  • In Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region, Tun Aung Kyaw, the junta administrator of Hlekuma Village, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon. 
  • In Natoegyi Township, U Khin Mg Win, allegedly an informer for the junta, was shot dead at his house in Seinbangyin Village at about 7:00 pm Thursday. 
  • The military junta has closed hundreds of Wave Pay and KBZ Pay accounts with financial contributions to the NUG and the Spring Revolution. Reportedly, they have been after such account owners. 
  • According to the US Foreign Minister, the US government announced on Thursday that they would provide humanitarian assistance worth over 170 million USD for the Rohingya community in Myanmar including the ones living in Bangladesh. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • Mobye PDF announced that the public were not to go here and there in town as there were still heavy battles with intense military tension in the area. 
  • In the area under the control of Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5), Kawthoolei Army attacked the junta army camps for 3 days. According to Mutraw Newsletter, 5 junta soldiers died and 4 others were injured. 

The Military Council 

  • In Pathein of Ayeyarwaddy Region, nearly 2,000 people have been in hardship because their houses near the railway must be demolished according to an order of the military junta. 
  • At the beach resorts in Ayeyarwaddy Region, the military junta instructed hotels, motels and bungalows to check their guests in accordance with the warrant list and photos first before offering their accommodation. 
  • The junta Union Election Commission stated that they are working to adopt the new law and by-law for the registration of political parties, and that political parties could apply for registration afterwards. 
  • According to the junta Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, they got started with the sale of gold coins in Yangon and Mandalay on 23 September. 

Summary on 23 September 

  • In Mobye of Karenni State, a large number of the junta armed forces have been conducting incursions in the area. Reportedly, it is a strategic location for the military junta and thus, they have been using junta soldiers from grassroots level in such battles. 
  • In Kayin State, the KNU has been taking hold of the junta army camps one after another. Reportedly, there were many casualties among junta soldiers while some others were caught alive. 
  • Due to the oppression of the junta armed forces in Yangon, there were fewer protests. However, there were more guerrilla attacks and bomb attacks on junta targets.
