The Military Council

  • According to the junta media, deputy major general Soe Htut, the junta deputy minister of home affairs, had been in Bago Region. He had been inspecting the prisons there.
  • Dr. Charlie Than, the junta Union Minister of Industry, said that investors would be attracted with tax exemptions to run electric vehicles in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.
  • The junta Ministry of Health declared Tatkone in Nay Pyi Taw, Dawei and Myeik in Tanintharyi as stay-at-home townships.
  • According to the junta media, the junta chief minister of Bago said that agritourism and ecotourism using dams and reservoirs would be implemented in the region.
  • According to the junta media, U Myat Kyaw, the junta chief minister of Sagaing Region, had been inspecting paddy fields and the hydro-project in Pyaw village of Myinmu Township, supplying water to 3600 acres.
  • In some townships, the junta armed forces called for help to arrest NUG and NLD members, accusing them of conducting murders and bomb explosions.
  • On Sunday night, the junta armed forces entered Wammathu, the native village of Chin national leader U Wammathu Maung. They destroyed the houses and stayed there. They also stole valuable things from the houses. They did the same at the hospital in the village.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Many soldiers and police have been joining the public as they do not want to be accomplices in the crimes of the military junta. Pyithu Yinkwin Organization, in cooperation with Ministry of Defense- NUG, have been supporting them.
  • According to Pyithu Yinkwin (People’s Embrace) Organization, they have been supporting the soldiers and police, who have joined the CDM, every month. So far, they have helped more than 790 soldiers.
  • After the review of People’s Embrace on the soldiers and police in the army, who stand with the public, pre-CDM codes will be issued, which is recognized by the Ministry of Defense- NUG.
  • With the excuse of COVID-19 infection in Nay Pyi Taw, the lawyer team has not been able to meet with President U Win Myint, State Counsellor Daw Aung San Su Kyi and Nay Pyi Taw Mayor Dr. Myo Aung for one and a half months. Therefore, they have been making arrangements to apply to the court so that they can meet with their clients during this week.
  • The NUG announced that they would take responsibility for years of service, positions and pensions of the soldiers and police who have joined the public.
  • Revolution Activities
  • According to PDF sources, a missile was shot at the junta army (402) in Thaton Township of Mon State at about 8:00 am Monday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers were hit and died in the incident.
  • In Sagaing Region, the junta armed forces had been raiding the villages in the east of Dibeyin Township. Therefore, residents had to run away.
  • On Monday, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Tamu, the junta army stationing at the school in Myoma Ward (12) was attacked with a bomb explosion by Tamu PDF at about 4:45 am Sunday. According to Tamu PDF, two junta soldiers died and some others were injured.
  • In Tamu, there was fighting on Monday morning. A responsible person of PDF Tamu said that 17 junta soldiers died. As for PDF, they lost one member and two others were injured.
  • The junta armed forces raided the villages in Pale Township. They took away rice and other food items.
  • According to YDF, Yaw Regional Revolution Committee was established with 29 individuals.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a tollbooth on Monywa-Yargyi-Kalaywa road was set on fire on Sunday night. The so-called manager was killed as well.
  • · Amidst tight security measures and mobility restrictions in Mandalay, a rally led by Mandalay Monks’ Union marched for supporting the NUG and against the military watchdog on Monday afternoon.
  • On Monday morning, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools protested against the military dictatorship.
  • According to residents of Mindat Township in Chin State, Mindat CDF found the packet of expired liquid medicines, which the junta soldiers dropped while running in the forest.
  • In Mayangone Township of Yangon Region, the junta armed forces raided a house in Ward (1) on Padauk Shwe Wah street at about 9:30 am Monday. According to residents, there were exchanges of fire and 4 people were arrested.
  • At about 7:00 pm Sunday, 5 soldiers ran away from Regiment (401) and (402) near Thabyechaung village in Dawei. One of them was arrested and killed, according to some villagers.
  • In Mindat, the junta armed forces shot mortars on Monday afternoon. According to residents, the whole villages had to run away.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Kayin State, there was a clash between KNLA Regiment (6) and the junta armed forces near Kwingalay village in the southwest of Myawady on Sunday.
  • At about 1:00 pm Monday, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and KNLA near Kamaigone village in the south of Kawkareik.
  • KNU announced on Monday that there were 9 battles between the junta armed forces and KNLA in Mutra District on Saturday and Sunday. As for the military junta, they lost 12 soldiers.
  • At about 7:50 am Sunday, a combined force of KA and KNDF fought against the junta army invading Karenni State between Bawlake Township and Matsalaung Taung.
  • On 74th Mon Revolution Day, Nai Han Tha, chair of Mon Pyi Thit, called for collective efforts of EAOs and anti-junta Bamar ethnic people.

Summary on 24th August

  • In recent days, the military junta had been mobilizing the army even in the areas of EAOs. Before that, there had been battles in some places of Chin, Kayah, Kachin and Kayin states as they had entered the area with full power. In Kayin, there were battles throughout the state.
  • In Mindat of Chin State, Pha-Pun and Kawkarait of Kayin State, and Kayar State, there were battles all across the areas. In Tamu of Sagaing Region, there was fighting in town with local PDF. In the rest of Sagaing, there were guerrilla attacks with local PDFs. On the other hand, the junta armed forces had been doing clearance operations. Consequently, hundreds of residents had to run away.
  • Amidst arrests in Mandalay, various rallies marched against the military dictatorship. In Yangon, urban guerrilla activities gained momentum. On the other hand, some people were arrested due to information leakage.
