The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • On Wednesday, The End of Dictatorship (EOD) under the NUG Ministry of Planning, Finance and Investment announced that they would soon carry out a fund-raising housing project named Spring Yangon Investment.
  • According to the NUG Ministry of Defence, Shwebo District PDF conducted a bomb attack via drone at the junta armed forces on their way out from Hmawtaw Village in Kantbalu Township of Sagaing Region at about 10:40 am on Monday. Reportedly, three Pyu Saw Htee members were injured.
  • The NUG Minister of Defence said as they have become systematically-organised and well-equipped PDFs have begun resembling a professional army and that revolutionary forces including LDFs had been trying more to collaborate and manage their respective areas.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In a battle on the border of Kantbalu-Kawlin-Kyunghla on Tuesday, local PDFs arrested three junta army officers and confiscated a lot of weapons.
  • On Tuesday, there were heavy battles on the border of Kantbalu and Kawlin in Sagaing Region. Reportedly, the junta army conducted air strikes at midnight, together with the black-out of telecommunication.
  • After a great loss in the battle on Kantbalu-Kawlin-Kyunghla, the junta army conducted aerial bombing via three fighter jets at 11:40 pm on Tuesday. Reportedly, four civilians died on the spot.
  • On Wednesday, Kalay General Strike protested against the military dictatorship, placing an anti-junta banner on a bridge in town.
  • On Tuesday, there was a clash between local PDFs and the junta army on the Monywa-Yagyi-Kalaywa road section. Reportedly, about 20 junta soldiers died.
  • In cooperation with Monywa youth, a combined rally of Salingyi and Yinmabin marched against the military dictatorship and raised an anti-junta banner.
  • On Wednesday, a combined rally of villages from Salingyi and Yinmabin marched for the end of the military dictatorship, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • On Tuesday, the military junta sealed off the house of actor Kyaw Thu and his wife in Ward (5) of Mayangone Township in Yangon Region.
  • Holding signs for peace and justice, a rally of anti-junta monks protested against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • In Myeik Township in Tanintharyi Region, Than Oo, the junta administrator of Kangyi Ward, was shot dead at about 3:00 pm on Tuesday.
  • Together with 265,000 signatures from the public, 509 local and international organizations sent a letter to the US government asking for sanctions against Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise- MOGE, the main source of finance for the military junta which is committing genocide.
  • In Hpakant in Kachin State, there was a rally in support of the KIA, PDF and NUG on Wednesday. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Wednesday, the military junta revoked the license of Lucky Little Home Publishing House using the excuse that they published obscene material.
  • In Tontay Township in Yangon Region, 6 members of the junta administration were shot dead. Then, the junta army arrested and ill-treated the people in Ziphyugone Village.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Kyaikto, there was fighting between the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and the junta armed forces. According to the KNU, 13 junta soldiers died and four others were injured.
  • Due to ongoing battles in Yathaytaung Township in Rakhine State, there were over 1600 displaced people in need of emergency assistance, according to Arakan Army (AA) on Tuesday.
  • In Duplaya District, there were over 30 battles between KNLA Brigade (6) and the junta Border Guard Force (BGF) within 20 days. Reportedly, nearly 50 junta soldiers died.
  • In Nyaunglaybin District under Karen National Union (KNU) Brigade (3), there were 25 battles in the first half of August. Reportedly, 57 junta soldiers died and 36 others were injured.
  • In Karenni State ,the Karenni National Defence Force announced on Wednesday that the public were not to use the streets in and around the town of Demoso.
  • According to CDF Mindat, logistics focal person Salai Kyaw Oo and CDM police officer Myo Thet Tun died in an explosion.
  • In Indaw Township in Sagaing Region, there was a battle between the junta armed forces and Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Nabar Village on Tuesday. Reportedly, there were casualties among junta soldiers.
  • In Banmauk Township in Sagaing Region, there were ongoing battles between local PDFs and the Shanni National Army (SNA). On Tuesday, there were three battles in the area.

The Military Council

  • On Tuesday, the Arakan Army (AA) released a warning to Maungdaw townspeople. After that, the junta border police force- Kyaingchaung No. (7) fired mortars at night.
  • There was a discussion among responsible personnel including the Chair of the junta Central Bank and some international organisations on reducing the risks of money laundering in Myanmar and fighting against financial support for violence.
  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing said that it was necessary to have good production, trade, financial and banking systems for an economy. He added that there would only be trade if there was enough production.
  • After the military coup from 1 February 2021 to 31 July 2022, there were 186 serious cases and 45 general court cases where the charges involved corruption.
  • The military junta led by Min Aung Hlaing said that the country had lost 259,670 million MMK and 13,326,746 USD due to corruption cases during the tenure of the NLD government.
  • The junta leader said that they would help the EAOs to carry out legitimate businesses after signing the National Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
  • The newly-appointed Chair of the junta administration in Chin State said that the allocated funds would be used in agriculture, livestock and Emerald Green projects.

Summary on 25 August

  • The junta leader Min Aung Hlaing has been trying to persuade the EAOs to sign the NCA by offering them business privileges. In recent days, he said ethnic people should join the military or BGF if they still want to take up arms. That’s why he was referred to as a headless chicken by the leader of the KNU.
  • In Rakhine, Kayin, Karenni states and Sagaing Region, there were heavy battles. As the junta army conducted attacks targeting civilians, there were casualties among the general public and the number of displaced people increased. The junta armed forces have been burning villages and killing civilians and committing genocide on a daily basis.
