Yangon Region

• In Sanchaung Township, the youth led an anti-junta movement on Saturday morning.
• On Friday night, about 30 junta soldiers arrested Ko Latt (Mingalataung Nyunt), a pro-military nationalist who lost his mother, aunt and sister due to COVID-19, for going live on Facebook at Yayway cemetery and criticizing poor management of the military junta. Reportedly, they released him on Saturday morning.
• Starting from Friday, some oxygen plants in Yangon would not provide refills using a queue system. Reportedly, their service would be available only through oxygen distribution committees in respective townships.
• According to Yangon regional administration council, oxygen support teams have been established in respective townships and the program of distributing oxygen free of charge started on Saturday.
• In North Dagon Myothit Township, the junta armed forces arrested Ko Kyaw Moe, a resident of Ward (40), at about 8:00 pm Friday while he was banging pots and pans. Reportedly, they released him on Saturday.
• Starting from 8:00 pm Friday, the strike of banging pots and pans resumed all across Yangon to drive away the military junta.
• On Saturday evening, a rally of Thanlyin GZ marched against the military dictatorship.
• All Burma Federation of Student Union announced that the junta armed forces made a crackdown on the protest in Insein Prison on Friday by beating those political prisoners and kept the protest leaders in solitary confinement, including Ko Zaw Htet Naing or Sit Naing, a CEC member of the Student Union.

Mandalay Region

• Amidst arrests in Mandalay, a rally of Myataung expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.
• On Saturday, Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military dictatorship, “Truth cannot be silenced in solitary confinement”.
• Chanting anti-junta slogans, a rally of Chan/Zi in Unity, in cooperation with Cooperative University students, expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
• On Saturday, the youth hung posters on the entrance to Mandalay, calling on the public not to forget that it was in Mandalay where the junta army ruthlessly killed a 7-year old child and that there was no need to discuss in bloody debt.
• Mandalay Monks’ Union made an anti-junta movement on Saturday.
• At about 2:00 pm Saturday, there was a robbery in a house on 40 road (between 63 and 64 streets) in Mandalay. Reportedly, the house owner was injured with a knife wound.
• Amidst various oppressions of the junta on protesters, a rally of Mandalay youth and students expressed their objection to the military dictatorship on Saturday.
• On Saturday evening, Mandalay Youth rally marched against the military dictatorship, chanting “This is the final battle uprooting the junta”.

Sagaing Region

• Pale PDF announced that they caught a vehicle smuggling timber near Indinetha village in Pale Township and destroyed the timber by burning.
• In Yinmabin Township, a combined rally of Kyaysagya village and Paygone village expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship on Saturday.
• According to local residents, four military ships carrying tanks, weapons and rations passed Dagaung on Saturday morning and went up the river Twardso Bamaw jetty via upper Tigyaint Katha.
• Young residents of Kalay made a protest against the military dictatorship.
• In Monywa, a rally of LGBTs without fear marched up Bogyoke road to show that they stand with political prisoners who were unjustly arrested and detained in Insein Prison. They then made a protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday morning.

Magwe Region

• Captain Goat Guerrilla Force to Drive Away the Tiger announced that U San Aung, Thadut village administrator in Myaing Township, was hacked to death at his house at about 11:00 pm Thursday.
• In Aunglan, the youth conducted a campaign “The people have only the people” on Saturday, distributing food to those living from hand to mouth.

Taninthayi Region

• In Longlone Township, basic education students made an anti-junta movement in Waidy village on Saturday afternoon, calling on the public from all over the country to protest against the junta leader.
• On Saturday afternoon, Dawei General Strike, in cooperation with a rally of students, expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship.
• In the eastern area of Dawei, the youth led a protest against the military dictatorship on Saturday.
• In Longlone Township, a rally of Lower Yebyu village with strong determination marched against the military dictatorship on Saturday evening.

Kachin State

• In Pha-Kant, a rally of Lonekhine group residents expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.

Bago Region

• Bago PDF announced that 20 people who work with the military junta, including soldiers, had lost their lives due to them.

Chin State

• Due to the invasion by junta armed forces in the villages of Mindat Township, there were battles again with Mindat CDF. According to local residents, a CDF member lost his life and a large number of villagers had to run away again.
• In the south west of Mindat, Mindat CDF attacked the junta police station in a village on Saturday morning. Reportedly, they managed to keep it under control.

Mon State

• In Paung Township, the public made a motorbike protest against the military dictatorship in the rain on Saturday.
• In Thatone Township, the administrator of Thamban village was shot dead on Friday.

Kayin State

• On Saturday afternoon, 130 oxygen cylinders were confiscated at Myawady bridge (2) under the order of military officer Myo Min Naung from Kayin state military council). They had been officially imported from Thailand for charitable organizations in Yangon Region.

Nay Pyi Taw

• The military junta declared a public holiday until 1st August to cut down the spread of COVID-19 infection.
• According to the announcement of the junta Nay Pyi Taw city development council, tests cannot be provided at the moment to patients with severe symptoms of COVID-19.
• The junta leader requested the CDM health staff again to resume their work so that they could effectively provide necessary health care for the public struggling with the infection of the COVID-19 third wave.

Summary on 24th July

• In Yangon, the protest in Insein Prison had ripple effects among the public. The public resumed the strike of banging pots and pans at 8:00 pm every night. Taking advantage of COVID-19 crisis, the military junta has been trying to bring life to administration offices. Consequently, it may be more difficult for those who need oxygen to get refills on their own.
• In Mandalay, there were still rallies and protests with great momentum as usual. The protest in Insein Prison had ripple effects on Mandalay as well. Mandalay rallies continued to express that they stand with political prisoners from Insein Prison. The junta armed forces have been stationing in Obo Prison.
• In Sagaing Region, public protests had great momentum and so did the revolution of PDFs. As for the junta armed forces, they had been strengthening their manpower and weapons. The ships carrying tanks and weapons went up steadily and thus, it was likely that they would conduct crackdowns on Katha PDFs.
• In Chin State and Kayar State, the battles started again and thus, the number of IDPs would be on the rise in the upcoming days. There might even be heavy fighting. At the border point in Kayin State, the military junta confiscated oxygen cylinders of the public. Consequently, there might be oxygen difficulties in Yangon and other areas.
• As for other states and regions, they had almost no protests. In Shan State, local residents may need help due to the COVID-19 crisis and a devastating flood.
