The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The NUG Ministry of Human Rights announced that the military junta has been committing mass murders in the country on a daily basis.
  • In a government meeting, the Union Prime Minister said that the NUCC has been carrying out activities in various sectors whereas the CRPH had been making an effort to support the revolution via meetings with international organisations and working for laws and policies, in cooperation with the NUCC and the NUG, for the revolutionary period.
  • The NUG Ministry of Defence announced that as of 17 May 2022 nearly 15,000 junta soldiers had died in the People’s Defensive War, which started on 1 June 2021.

Revolutionary Activities

  • In Longlone Township in Tanintharyi Region, a rally by Basic Education Students’ Union, LGBT people and local people took to the streets on Wednesday.
  • In Chaung-U Township in Sagaing Region, 50 junta soldiers and Pyu Saw Htee members had been robbing people’s belongings and so, they were attacked with mines ten times. Reportedly, 36 of them died.
  • In Myinmu Township, a military convoy was attacked with mines by a PDF at the entrance to Kanphya Village at about 4:30 am on Tuesday. Reportedly, a military truck was damaged.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of villagers marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Wednesday.
  • On Tuesday, a soldier named Naing Win from the Kalay-based junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (361) contacted a local PDF and joined the public.
  • On Wednesday, the Mandalay District Basic Education Students’ Union hung an anti-junta banner at U Pein Bridge.
  • In Mingaladone Township in Yangon Region, the Y.G.R.F conducted bomb attacks on the junta supporting army (323) and a motorbike shop by a Thwethaught member on Tuesday.
  • To support the Inle People Defense Force-IPDF (1008), Vitamins-For Spring Revolution are carrying out Art Gallery Projects and selling tickets until Wednesday.
  • In Magwe Region, there was an attack on the junta Yemyetni Camp between Tilin and Gantgaw townships. Reportedly, five junta soldiers died. As for the YRPA, one of their members got seriously injured.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, a so-called Pyu Saw Htee member from Sankywe Village was shot dead by an armed group at his house at 10:30 am on Tuesday.
  • In Kyaukgyi Township in Bago Region, the junta army arrested two local people; father and son, at about 4:00 pm Monday.
  • In Pathein Township in Ayeyarwaddy Region, there were sounds of explosions near Shawpya Village at about 9:45 am Wednesday.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • The junta Pao National Organization started to collect 30,000 MMK from each household in their area on Wednesday. Reportedly, they also threatened the public saying there would be legal action against any social media post talking about the payments.
  • According to a KNU spokesperson, it did not matter how many arguments there were at the NUCC. It was just important to clearly see the common enemy and keep commitments until the destination.
  • In an interview with Yangon Khit Thit, the KNU Secretary-General and member of the NUCC said that the NLD had always been part of the revolution and thus, the public should just focus on the fight against the military junta- the common enemy.
  • In Beelin Township under KNU Brigade (1), an alliance of the KNLA conducted an attack via drones on the frontline camp of the junta army stationing in Wintapan Village.
  • In Pekone Township on the Shan-Karenni border, no less than 30 junta soldiers have died in local battles since 15 May. Reportedly, a member of the KNDF and two PDF members lost their lives as well.
  • According to the Shan National League for Democracy (SNLD), they will not take the junta election into consideration until the end of 2022.

The Military Council

  • In Shan State, the junta armed forces have been demanding money from truck drivers passing through Taunggyi at night.
  • According to the junta Ministry of Trade and Commerce, Myanmar earned 58.933 million USD from the export of rice and broken rice in April 2022.
  • According to the military junta, there would be a national-level effort to reopen the Myanmar-Thai friendly bridges and border gates. The public will be informed of the date this will happen.
  • On Tuesday, the junta Chair of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area gave 40 lakh MMK to a group of 200 former soldiers who had worked as security at local schools in the previous academic year.
  • Reportedly, there was a meeting between the military junta and a team led by Vice-Chair of the New Mon State Party in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday.
  • In Chin State the area with the fewest universities and colleges, the military junta has been making arrangements to open a new college and industrial high schools.

Summary on 26 May

  • The coup has been like an official permit for the whole junta army to exploit the public. Just outside towns and on highways, the junta armed forces can be seen demanding money from road users including trucks.
  • In the upcountry area, the junta armed forces took away valuable things before setting fire to people’s houses in villages. They also killed local people.
