The National Unity Government (NUG) 

  • Myanmar Nway Oo University sent a congratulatory statement to the very first convocation by Kachin State Comprehensive University. 
  • At 9:00 pm Friday, there was a meeting (8/2023) between the Central Committee on the Interim Public Administration-NUG and Local People’s Administrative Teams from Sagaing Region and Magwe Region. 
  • At the United Nations General Assembly, a majority of member states supported the decision condemning the invasion of Ruussia into Ukraine for more than a year. Reportedly, Myanmar’s Permanent Representative to the UN U Kyaw Moe Tun also voted in support of it. 
  • In Geneva, Switzerland, the Minister of Human Rights-NUG met with the new High Commissioner of the UN Human Rights on Thursday. 
  • In Laiza, the very first convocation of Kachin State Comprehensive University was conducted and 63 students graduated. Reportedly, present on the occasion was brigadier general Gun Maw. Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, Minister of Health-NUG, delivered the speech online. 

Revolution Activities 

  • In Monywa Township of Sagaing Region, there was a surprise attack on the junta army stationed at the immigration office. Reportedly, 4 junta soldiers died on the spot. 
  • In Yinmabin North, there was a march against the military dictatorship on Friday morning. 
  • In Shwebo Township, the junta army set fire to Paukchaing Village for a third time. Reportedly, 57 houses were burnt to ashes. 
  • In Shwebo Township, PDFs conducted various attacks on the junta armed forces from 12 to 21 February. Reportedly, nearly 30 junta soldiers died and many others were injured. 
  • In Kantbalu Township, 5 people from Nyaungzin Village were hit with mines on Saturday morning. Reportedly, one of them was in critical condition. 
  • In KyarIn Seikgyi Township of Kayin State, there was an attack on Phaya Thonesu Police Station on Saturday morning. Reportedly, the junta station was on fire. 
  • In Thabaitgyin Township of Mandalay Region, PDFs conducted a bomb attack via drone on Chaunggyi Police Station. 
  • In Ngazun Township, the junta army set fire to Japangyun Village for two consecutive days. Consequently, nearly the whole village was burnt to ashes and local people had to run away. 
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, young people conducted an anti-junta movement and a public talk against the PTTEP and PTT products. 
  • In Longlone Township, non-violent anti-junta movements have regained the momentum. 
  • In Pauk Township of Magwe Region, the junta armed forces invaded and raided 6 local villages. Reportedly, more than 3000 local people have had to run away. 
  • In Nattalin of Bago Region, 386 students will take the junta’s matriculation exam. 

Ethnic Armed Organizations 

  • In Hpapun District under Karen National Union-KNU Brigade (5), Bhama People Liberation Army-BPLA attacked and took control of a junta army camp on Saturday morning. 
  • At 3:00 pm Friday, local people welcomed the members of ABSDF Batch (1) on their arrival back to Cjhindwin Area after being equipped with arms. 
  • In Pinlaung Township of Shan State, the junta army fired heavy artillery on local villages without any provocation. According to the Karenni National Defence Force, one person lost their life in the incident. 
  • In the convocation by Kachin State Comprehensive University, brigadier general Gun Maw called on the graduates to promote the dignity of their Mother University by taking part in the revolution and the rehabilitation period beyond the revolution. 

The Military Council 

  • After the adoption of the amended law and by-law on the political parties registeration, up to 9 parties have applied to the junta Union Election Commission. Among them is New National Democratic Party led by Thein Nyunt, an advisor of the Military Council. 
  • The junta Deputy Minister of Information claimed that it was necessary to take action against the channels, websites and Facebook pages for showing and selling local and international movies illegally. 
  • The military junta responded that it was just an exaggeration to claim that there are 1.1 million Rakhine refugees staying in the camps in Cox's Bazar in Bangladesh. 

Summary on 25 February 

  • The PDFs and the EAOs have had more and more trainees whereas the military junta finds it hard to recruit for their armed forces. 
  • In recent days, the military junta stated that they would accept the return of Rohingya people who had run away due to their violent activities. However, they gave an excuse related to the number of those people. In other words, their claim to accept the refugees is just propaganda.
