The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • The Committee on Public Affairs of the CRPH launched an application named Ahlu Shin App for a special fund to support CDM staff, heroes of the revolution.
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the NUG had made a replacement for the position of their representative in France.
  • The NUG announced that Union Minister of Economics and Commerce had been joining the 7th annual Sustainability Week: Accelerating transition, building resilience organized by Economist Impact in London from 21 to 24 March.
  • U Kyaw Moe Tun, Myanmar’s Ambassador to the United Nations, said that the public stand with the people in Ukraine following the Russian invasion. He also called on the international community to help the Myanmar people in the fight against the military dictatorship.

Revolution Activities

  • London-based Myanmar Accountability Project (MAP) announced that they would submit an application on 29 March for a lawsuit in Turkey against war crimes in Myanmar after the military coup on 1 February 2021. They would also send the list of the junta leaders including Min Aung Hlaing for arrest by the Turkish authorities and international police.
  • Reportedly, Fortify Rights released a report calling for the investigation and action against 61 junta leaders including Min Aung Hlaing for killing Myanmar people on purpose.
  • Amidst tight security measures in Yangon, Burmese Youth Network conducted a guerrilla protest against the military dictatorship on Friday, chanting - ‘Towards the society with equity and equality’.
  • In Insein Township of Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion at administration office of Phawgan Ward on Friday. Reportedly, there were casualties among members of the junta armed forces.
  • In Longlone Township of Taninthayi Region, youth led a protest against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • In Hpakant Township of Kachin State, local people marched against the military dictatorship. They also showed their support for the KIA, PDF and NUG.
  • In Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region, 50 junta soldiers was attacked with mines near the stone monument at 7:20 pm Thursday. Reportedly, 2 of them died and 8 others were injured. According to Knight Commanders (MMU), a mentally-ill person was injured due to the wild gunfire of the junta army.
  • As a 380-day protest, a combined rally of Salingyi North and Yinmabin East marched against the military dictatorship on Friday.
  • On Friday morning, there were posters threatening - ‘PDFs and their supporters must die terribly’ posted in crowded places in Kalay.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a rally of villages led a march against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mandalay Region, a local guerrilla force opened fire at a police station in Kyaukse Industrial Zone (1) at 3:30 am Friday. Reportedly, they managed to drive away 12 junta policemen.
  • In Nay Pyi Taw, San Lin Htet, a junta captain, got drunk on 19 March and insulted other soldiers. Consequently, there was a quarrel among them. Reportedly, all of them, except for the captain, were beaten.
  • In Wawlay Area of Karen State under the control of KNU 6th Brigade, the junta conducted air strikes with fighter jets at 11:30 am Friday.
  • On Friday, People’s Destination announced that a captain from the Defense Service Technology Academy (DSTA) had joined the CDM on 3 March.
  • In Matupi Township of Chin State, 100 junta soldiers entered Waytu Village on Thursday and made searches of houses. They then took away public belongings and arrested 3 villagers including a pastor.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • In Phalan Township of Chin State, the flag of the junta army was taken down from the bridge at the India-Myanmar border in Rihkhawdar and the flag of the CNDF was put up there.
  • In Karen State, there were battles between the junta armed forces and the KNU. Reportedly, 6 junta soldiers died.
  • On Thursday evening, a contingent of junta soldiers invading Laykaykaw New Town was attacked with mines by Cobra PDF and at least 2 of them were injured.
  • In Hpakant and its neighbourhood in Kachin State, the KIA has been inspecting grocery shops, restaurants, bars and KTVs to see whether they have been selling junta army products.
  • KIO Central Committee released a statement with sorrow for 7 Kachin people who had died in a plane crash in China.

The Military Council

  • The military junta announced their new appointment of 2 chief judges and 3 judges at state and regional level.
  • At the meeting of the National Committee on Persons with Disabilities, the second junta leader Soe Win said that more focus must be given to activities for disability grading and registration.
  • There was a dress rehearsal of the troops who would perform a military show on the junta army day on 27 March and it was attended by the second junta leader.
  • At the launching ceremony of Myancopharm, secretary of the military junta said that in addition to the availability of procedures, local production of such COVID-19 vaccines would reduce the spending of foreign currency.
  • In a coordination meeting on Wednesday, the junta minister of information said that they would take action against 69 cinemas which refuse to show movies.
  • According to the junta newspaper, loans out of the COVID-19 fund were allowed for over 800 business in film, music, art, press and media.
  • The junta propaganda leader Zaww Min Tun said that except for criminals, PDFs and CDM staff would be accepted.
  • On Thursday, there was a meeting between the junta Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and Europe-Asia Economic Union (EAEU) in Nay Pyi Taw.

Summary on 25 March

  • In recent days, Chin Defense Forces took control of the junta army camps in Rihkhawdar of Phalan Township. According to social media posts on Friday, the flag of the military junta was removed and the flag of CNDF was raised at the bridge on the India-Myanmar border. Therefore, Rhikhawdar might be under the control of the CNDF.
  • Amidst oppression of the junta armed forces, there were anti-junta movements in Yangon. As for Mandalay, they had no protests or other movements as there were thorough searches for PDF members, combing the area. However, there were still revolution activities in other parts of the region.
  • In Karen, Karenni, Kachin and Sagaing region, there were heavy battles. In recent days, the military junta could not provide support in various areas. It might be because the junta armed forces had to take security measures for the military performance on the junta army day. In Chin State, there might be battles in the days to come as a large number of junta soldiers had been sent there.
