The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • Reportedly, the NUG gave 10 lakh MMK for each of the PDF members and person who lost their lives due to a bomb attack via military helicopter during the event on completion of PDF training in Chinpone Village in Yinmabin Township in Sagaing Region.
  • According to the NUG Deputy Minister of Planning, Finance and Investment, they have been making arrangements for a NUG Pay financial service starting from June.
  • Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, the NUG Minister of Health, delivered a speech at the graduation of the 76 th Lady Health Visitor training by the Interim Council of Nursing and Midwife Training Schools.

Revolution Activities

  • In Yinmabin Township and Salingyi Township in Sagaing Region, local people from 19 villages had to run away due to being invaded by junta armed forces.
  • In Kani Township, a large number of the junta armed forces have been invading the area causing thousands of local residents to run away.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army set fire to Wadan Village on Thursday.
  • In Salingyi Township, the junta army arrested two Ywatha villagers- Ko Chit Thein Zaw and Ko Kyaw Nyein as hostages and shot them dead.
  • In Yinmabin Township, a protest from Sonechaung Village marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday morning.
  • In Shwebo Township, a rally of villagers marched for the NUG and against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Kayin State, the junta army might attack to try to take back their Thaybawboe camp on the Wawlay-Myawaddy Road under the control of KNU Brigade (6) meaning that it is not possible for the IDPs to return home yet.
  • In Hpakant Township in Kachin State, local people marched for the KIA, PDF and NUG on Thursday. They also protested against the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township in Taninthayi Region, a combined rally of women and youth marched for the downfall of the military dictatorship on Thursday, raising a banner for the building of a new nation out of ashes.
  • In Mingala Taung Nyunt Township in Yangon Region, there was a bomb explosion at a local police station at about 9:15 pm on Wednesday. According to local residents, there were sounds of gunfire as well.
  • In Yesagyo Township in Magwe Region, all the policemen left at the Myaydaw Police Camp ran away, according to MGN – TIGER.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • Since Thursday, the junta Pa-O National Organisation- PNO has been demanding 30,000 MMK from each household in their area for their fund. Reportedly, they also threatened local people that they would be punished if they post about the charges on social media.
  • In Chin State, the Mindat Township Public Administration announced that parents were not to send their children to junta schools because of security risks.
  • In Paletwa Township on the border of Chin and Rakhine states, there was fighting between the junta army and the Arakan Army (AA) starting at 10:00 am on Thursday.
  • The Kayan National Party (KNP) sent a congratulatory statement to the national conference of the Shan National League for Democracy- SNLD held amidst hardships during the tenure of the military junta.
  • According to the Karenni State Consultative Council, 24 people detained by the Karenni State Police Force were released in an amnesty on Thursday.

The Military Council

  • There was a discussion between the junta peace team and New Mon State Party for three days. Reportedly, they signed an agreement.
  • The junta Central Bank announced that because payments for products and services are being made in the country with foreign currency there was a high demand for foreign currency which caused the exchange rate to become unstable.
  • Starting on Thursday morning, there were enrollments at the junta basic education schools.
  • The military junta stated that PDFs had burnt school text books to be sent to Myeik District in Tanintharyi Region.
  • According to the military junta, they discussed the development matters for the d country with different ethnic groups.
  • Starting on Wednesday, the junta police members in Ayeyarwaddy Region were provided with moral training.

Summary on 27 May

  • The coup has been like an official permit for all of the junta army, from top to bottom, to exploit the public.
  • According to local residents, battles resumed between the Arakan Army (AA) and the junta army. However, neither side has yet reported on casualties. As the military junta threatened to conduct violence in Rakhine State, it is necessary to watch them to see if they commit human rights violations and war crimes.
  • The military junta announced that legal action would be taken against the use of foreign currency for trading in the country. Consequently, there might be more financial crises and economic downturns. It is assumed that the junta has been creating such hardships on purpose.
  • Even in areas without fighting, the junta armed forces have been setting fire to people’s houses and killing people. Consequently, the number of IDPs has been on the rise throughout the country. In some areas IDPs are in urgent need of food and shelter, especially shelter-related items as it is now the rainy season. As for those in other areas, they have run out of rice and food and are in trouble because of difficulties accessing assistance due to the military junta.
