The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • In accordance with the right to self-defence, the public has been taking part in a People’s Defensive War. Reportedly, 48 members of the junta armed forces died and 11 others were injured on Saturday.

Revolutionary Activities

  • A rally of monks protested against the military dictatorship an held signs saying ‘The army killing the public is just the public’s common enemy’,.
  • With best wishes for the revolutionaries, the monks showed their support for the revolution.
  • On Sunday, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw claimed that one could not rule the country just by knowing how to shoot a gun.
  • On the Sagaing to Monywa Road, a military convoy pretending to be normal trucks was attacked with 40 mines by local PDFs.
  • The focal person of the Khin U Local Guerrilla Force (KUGF) asked whether junta soldiers could only set fire to local villages in Sagaing Region. He challenged them to fight the revolutionary forces face to face on the ground.
  • In Myaung Township, there was a bomb attack using a drone, led by Bo Nay Toe, on the junta army which had taken over a local PDF camp.
  • On Saturday evening, a combined rally of the MRDA and 96 PDF soldiers marched for the end of the military dictatorship.
  • In Ayadaw Township, local people marched against the military dictatorship on Sunday morning.
  • In Khin-U Township, a combined rally of local people and students marched for the NUG and the United Nations to keep Myanmar’s Ambassador U Kyaw Moe Tun. They also expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • On Sunday, in Sanchaung Township, there was an event in memory of four heroes of the Spring Revolution, Dr. Zin Lin, Nurse Ma Khin Khin Kywe, Ko Kyaw Gyi and Ko Pyit Gyi, who lost their lives when the junta armed forces conducted a violent raid on an apartment last year.
  • Starting on Sunday morning, the junta army blocked off the whole town of Thanlyin Township in Yangon Region and made inspections.
  • In Thanlyin Township in Yangon Region, 11 soldiers allegedly ran away from the junta navy. According to local sources, the junta armed forces inspected some wards in town.
  • In Yangon, there was a black ribbon campaign to express sorrow for the children who had lost lives in the air strike on Letyatgone Village.
  • In North Okkalapa Township, a rally of students’ unions conducted an anti-junta movement on Sunday, hanging a banner saying, ‘The victory is for those who dare to fight,’ in front of No. (1) High School.
  • On Sunday, there was an anti-junta banner near a junta army bunker.
  • On Saturday, the retired General Ohn Thwin, a teacher of the second junta leader Soe Win, and his son-in-law former Captain Ye Tayza were shot dead by Urban Guerrillas.
  • In downtown Kyoto, a rally expressed its desire against the junta Ambassador attending the funeral of Japanese Prime Minister Abe.
  • In Changwon in South Korea, Korean and Myanmar people conducted a protest against the Myanmar military dictatorship on Sunday.
  • In Kyaukme in Shan State, a policewoman named Hnin Wuit Yi Win died on Saturday as she was knocked down by a military truck.
  • In Buthidaung Township in Rakhine State, the junta armed forces stationed in the border guard police camp near Alechaung Village fired mortars at Thabaittaung Village Group on Friday.
  • In Pulaw Township in Tanintharyi Region, a junta 100-household leader was shot at his house in Kyell Village on Friday night.

Ethnic Armed Organisations

  • In Kyaukgyi Township in Bago Region, there was fighting between a combined force of the KNLA and the junta army stationed in Hnawtaw Village school at about 7:00 am on Sunday. Reportedly, two junta soldiers died and many others were injured.
  • In Kayin State, the Kawthoolei Army Regiment 5 attacked the junta army camps based in Hpapun on Saturday. According to the Mutraw Newsletter, five junta soldiers died and one other was injured.
  • In Kyar-In Seikgyi Township, Win Min Kant, a military officer aged 34 from the junta army Ka-Ma-Ya (556), was caught by revolutionary forces at about 9:00 am on Sunday.

The Military Council

  • According to army sources, the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing indefinitely postponed his trip to Pyi Oo Lwin due to security reasons.
  • In Rakhine State, only people with National Registration Card (NRCs) are allowed to travel on land and on waterways. Moreover, passengers have to wait for a long time as the junta armed forces make inspections.
  • On 14 September, 12 fully-armed soldiers ran away from the junta Mawyawaddy navy based in the Kanbauk Area of Yebyu Township.
  • In Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Region, the military junta has been arranging to hold the Tazaungdine hot air balloon festival.
  • The junta media claimed that Sagaing PDFs had arrested two monks, accusing them of being junta informers. They also stated that 56 monks and a nun had been killed by PDFs.
  • The junta Pillar Media accused four PDF members of commiting a robbery at a gold shop in Ward (1) in Pakkoku in Magwe Region and took away 50 ticals of gold and 30 lakh MMK.

In Sittway in Rakhine State, the junta General Administration Department instructed local restaurants and shops to close at a fixed time.

Summary on 26 September

  • More and more soldiers have been running away from the junta army on a daily basis. Throughout the country, members of the junta armed forces have joined the CDM and deserted their forces. In Rakhine and Kayin, a lot of junta soldiers joined local EAOs and some others were caught and gave up their arms. In other words, they had less trust in the junta leader Min Aung Hlaing and took their chances by leaving the junta army.
  • In Sagaing Region, villages have been burnt on a daily basis. However, revolutionary activities have not decreased. The same is true for Yangon with tight security measures by the junta armed forces.
