The Military Council

  • U Ko Ko Hlaing, the junta union minister of international cooperation, said that as the implementation of the 4th point in the 5-point consensus by ASEAN leaders, humanitarian assistance would be provided to Myanmar soon.
  • On Wednesday, a meeting was held at office No. (1) under Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations to finalize the discussion on the Myanmar Economic Recovery Plan-MERP, drawn up by a working committee on reducing the impacts of COVID-19 on the economy.
  • According to the military junta, they had been working to take legal action against the organizations under CRPH and NUG as well as their affiliates. They could also identify and arrest terrorists who had been hiding in towns and villages as well as their supporters.
  • According to the junta media, those from the CRPH and NUG pretended to be military officers in Mandalay Region and demanded money from business people to defame the military.
  • In Titain Township of Chin State, three policemen, who were in charge of security at Myanmar Economic Bank in Myoma Ward, were shot dead. The military junta announced that the gunmen had stolen 388 lakhs from the bank and weapons.

The National Unity Government (NUG)

  • After the suspension of Radio NUG, short-wave radio programme by the Ministry of Communication, Information and Technology-NUG in recent days, it was broadcast again on Thursday.
  • U Moe Zaw Oo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs- NUG, said that preparations were being made for the inevitable fight against the military junta who had no desire for peace and who just carried out military operations.
  • The NUG announced that a tax system would be introduced soon for the business people, who trust the Spring Revolution, to pay taxes safely.
  • The NUG announced that Daw Khin Ma Ma Myo, Deputy Minister of Defense, was transferred to be Union Ministry of Economics and Commerce.
  • The NUG announced that the 1982 Citizenship Law would be abolished and replaced with a new one which would recognize the citizenship for any children of citizens, regardless of their birth places.

Revolution Activities

  • After the violent arrest in Thamai of Yangon on 23rd August, a young protester Ko Lin Nyo has been missing. Reportedly, many other anti-junta youth in affiliation with him were also arrested.
  • In South Okkalapa Township, there was a bomb explosion at the township general administration office on 22nd August. Regarding it, the junta armed forces killed a suspect named Mg San Win Aung, a young volunteer aged 19, in the investigation on Wednesday. They then contacted his family to come and take his dead body making a payment of 10 lakhs.
  • Via his social media post, CDM captain Linn Htet Aung said that 3 military officers had joined the public.
  • On Wednesday night, Mandalay Monks’ Union recited Parittas for the public as usual and protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday morning, a rally of Aungmye Thazan Schools expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, a rally of Mandalay variety forces marched against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, Myataung rally marched for driving away the military watchdog.
  • In Thapaitgyin Township, the junta armed forces arrested local residents, who had been carrying out a gold-mining business in Chaunggyi and Latpanpyant villages, and robbed them of property. Reportedly, most business people had to run away.
  • On Thursday, Pyigyi Dagun Sayardaw led a protest against the military dictatorship at dusk.
  • On Thursday, a rally of Mandalay Force protested against the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, a rally of LGBTIQ expressed their disapproval of the military dictatorship.
  • On Thursday, a rally led by Mandalay Monks’ Union marched against the military dictatorship.
  • In Mandalay, the junta armed forces set up inspection booths and barricaded the roads. On Thursday, Maha Aungmye youth conducted an anti-junta movement, hanging posters - “We own our roads. Protest against unfair orders”.
  • On Thursday, a combined rally of Chan/Zi in Unity, Mandalay people and Mandala University students marched against the military watchdog.
  • In sorrow for the 4-year anniversary of Rohingya women, there was a march against the junta rapists in a village on Monywa-Amyint road-side on Wednesday.
  • In Khin-U Township of Sagaing Region, farmers led a protest against the military watchdog on Thursday.
  • On Thursday, a rally comprising various villages from Salingyi North and Yinmabin East expressed their desire against the military dictatorship, chanting “NUG is our government”.
  • On Thursday, Kalay people marched against the military watchdog.
  • In Ayadaw Township, the junta armed forces raided Kywebagan village on Wednesday, destroyed houses and arrested local residents. With a sense of fear that they might come again, about 4000 villagers had been hiding in forests until Thursday morning.
  • In Monywa Township, female farm workers in Monywe+Gyaymone village made a farming strike against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Pale Township, USDP members destroyed a house in Tane village for no apparent reason at about 10:00 pm Wednesday.
  • In Yinmabin Township, Yinmabin PDF arrested a junta policeman who pretended to join the CDM and who had been spying on the PDF.
  • On Thursday, Kalay people marched against the military dictatorship. As they were about to part after the protest, the junta police in plain clothes conducted an arrest. Reportedly, 10 protesters were arrested.
  • In Tantsi Township, the youth led a protest against the military watchdog in Kabaunggya village on Thursday.
  • In Magwe Region, Myaing Township Basic Education Strike Committee, in cooperation with the public from south west zone, expressed their desire for the downfall of the military dictatorship as well as for the emergence of federal democracy on Thursday morning.
  • In Myothit Township, the public from rural community made sesame-harvest strike on Thursday morning, chanting anti-junta slogans.
  • In Tantalan of Chin State, the junta armed forces opened fire wildly in Palaka Ward near the police station on Wednesday. In the incident, a 10-year old boy was hit with a bullet in his neck and died. Reportedly, his funeral was carried out on Thursday.
  • Between Hakha and Tatalan, there was a fighting between a combined force of CDF Hakha-CDF Zophei and the junta armed forces the previous day. CDF officially announced that at least 3 junta soldiers lost their lives.
  • In the townships of Chin State, the military junta made an announcement by placing sheets of paper containing the words “To know for CDF, to know for the IDPs and to know for the public”. Local people said that it was just like a joke.
  • In Phekone Township of Shan South, Pyusawti members, backed by the military junta with weapons, have been conducting violence. According to Phekone PDF, those people made threatening acts on Wednesday night, throwing bombs at the houses of local residents.
  • In Longlone Township, there was a night protest against the military dictatorship in Kanyonegyun village on Wednesday.
  • On Wednesday evening, young residents of rural community in Longlone Township expressed their objection to the military dictatorship.
  • In Longlone Township, a rally of youth in Lower Yebyu marched against the military dictatorship on Thursday.
  • In Thayetchaung Township, young people conducted an anti-junta movement, “The wall of the junta will be broken by the storm of the youth”.
  • The junta armed forces arrested the chair of the KNC, a political party of Kachin ethnic people, on Tuesday evening.
  • At about 7:00 pm Wednesday, there was a bomb explosion at the Mytel office in downtown Loikaw of Karenni State.
  • At about 9:30 pm the previous day, there was gunfire in Bago. After that, the junta armed forces raided the wards and arrested some local residents.

Ethnic Armed Organizations

  • As Karenni State Police Force comprising the police who joined the CDM, they would make plans to provide help where necessary in the revolution.
  • AA said that COVID-19 vaccination had a beneficial effect on the prevention in the community as well as in the country. Therefore, the people were to receive vaccination if they had a chance. They have been trying make it possible for everyone to get the COVID-19 vaccination.
  • According to KNU communication team, KNLA Regiment (17) seized a camp of the junta army on Thursday morning.

Summary on 26th August

  • The military junta had been constantly arresting the youth who were involved in NUG, NLD and the revolution. They also killed them on purpose. Therefore, it could be regarded as violent conduct. With dependence on ASEAN, they had been trying to gain international recognition.
  • As for the NUG, they have been announcing that the battle will start very soon. They also talked about preparations in case of the battle. They also shook the military junta with accusations regarding Rohingya affairs.
  • There was no news about the fighting between EAOs and the junta armed forces on Thursday. However, there were clashes between local PDFs and the junta army in Chin and Sagaing. Despite arrests of protesters, various rallies in Mandalay still marched against the military dictatorship. In Yangon, there were no protests or revolution activities for the time being as arrests were conducted through a chain of contact. However, protesters could still threaten the military junta. As for other states and regions, they had almost no protests.
